Paulie jab is a thing of beauty. Its perfectly thrown with speed,precision and pop. Not to mention he has great footwork,and is a very smart fighter. And always comes to fight.Enough with saying he has pillow fist and admire what he does bring to the table as a fighter. Also to me the best commentator boxing has to date..

i used to hate Malignaggi but i learned to love him. very technical fighter with really good foot movement. he also has alotta heart. i hope he takes Thurman on his offer & bring that kid back to boxing grade school

He's a magic man with magic hands all right!
I've been training for awhile and I still get amazed at how hard the average Pro boxer hits. You can really see the disparity between these guys and your average MMA fighter, who tend to push their punches. Paulie's not an average fighter (he is a world champ anyway you cut it), but he's more known for his speed and boxing ability than his power. He's often chided for a low KO ratio and being "feather fisted," but that seems to be more because of his brittle hands than anything. Mayweather holds back a lot for similar reasons.

I've been watching a lot of interviews of boxers and lessons on the internet. And its the best video I've ever seen. its kind of a dream to learn boxing techniques from great boxers and champs and see how they're punching it for boxing fans.

I've always like Paul Malignaggi but he does not really explain how to bring back the jab to protect your chin after you finish throwing the jab or how to turn over the jab from before you land it, I think one of the guys who really does great boxing videos is Coach Anthony out of New Jersey, he breaks down all the basics, from boxing stance, throwing the jab and your foot work before and after the jab as well as blocking punches, etc.... All said I like Paulie's boxing commentary, he is for the most part spot on.

Pauli has a good quickness
When I was a kid I developed a decent jab to defend myself in scraps with other kids. Now, with so many people learning about take downs, I feel like a power jab would feed that lead leg to someone looking to wrestle. You never see someone jab in MMA with much success. I appreciate the jab lesson, though, and when to time the power shots. Gives me and idea of when I should launch the left hook in a defense scenario.
exactly people have no idea what it's like to be hit by a world class pro boxer, even if he's not meant to be a big puncher.

Reminds me of when i first took boxing and learned about the variations of the jab. My instructor felt that if you could only do one punch then the jab was the best.

Yea, I use to go to Gleason's Gym when Zab Judah, Paulie Malignaggi, Joan Guzman, Vivian Harris, Edgar Santana use to go there. And I use too see all of these guy's punch and spar. And it was like they were from a different planet. They hit really,really,extremely, hard...

How many ring smarts episodes are there ? I can only find 3 on youtube, are there any more. Also something seems a bit strange about this channel from a technical perspective, when I go to its page I can't see all the videos that in theory exist ?! Am I the only one with this problem ? Thanks.
Hi Juandenz2008! There are only 3 episodes so far...I'm hoping to get back into it soon. As far as the missing videos, I have some home videos of my family uploaded here, but made private so that only my family is able to see them. Sorry for any confusion. Thanks for watching!

Paulie is the best jabber in boxing. I don't think any boxing analyst would disagree with that. Paulie has lost only 4 times which is pretty respectable and hes not that bad. He only has 5 ko's which tells you clearly how effective his jab is. Iv seen Paulie fight many times and I am always impressed with his jab. Thats what he is known for. Hes a Jab artist. Obvioulsy he would need more than his jab to win against the top fighters however nobody throws it better then Paulie.
On another note, I love Paulie both as a boxer and as a commentator.

I think he doesn't fully commit to most of his punches. It suits him. I would consider him almost a pure boxer, still with a good amateur state of mind. It's a points game with him and I'm alright with boxers who like to bring all the tools to the table. His style is stick and move, and only go for the kill when he's 100% sure he can do so without getting caught too much or leaving himself open.
