Buy the 49-euro-ticket outside of Germany

- 2 options for buying the Deutschlandticket from outside of Germany:
1. Try the DB Navigator app, the official app from Deutsche Bahn. This is where I have mine, but I think it doesn't sell it outside of Germany (please correct me if I'm wrong!) I think you need a German IBAN.
2. What I've definitely seen people outside of Germany do, is use the FahrPlaner app from the Bremen public transport authority. That also has an English language setting and definitely takes foreign credit cards, according to reports I've seen from places e.g. the Seat61 page about the Deutschlandticket.
Also remember to cancel it if you're leaving the country, as it's a subscription (but monthly-cancellable)!

From a German taxpayer: You're welcome!
(This ticket is heavily state-subsidized.)
Yes 😢
@@DonnyDarko13Oh no the German tax money is being used for benefiting its own people. The sheer horror.
Look at this way. A tourist will pay 49 Euro for something they won't necessarily utilise to the fullest. And ICE trains still need to be paid. I see it as a win
@@alihorda agree, good point 🙂
Tourists spend alot, so they'll infuse local economies (especially the less abled small municipalities) with cash flow because they could go to the smaller cities thanks to cheaper prices therefore germany needing less taxpayer subsidies for the countryside and more equality in germany.
i hear 99 luftballons and i instantly like

DB Navigator worked fine for me with a Dutch address and bank details.
We love our Dutch neighbours
I think it works with any EU/Schengen address and bank account
@@loho1125 Probably, haven’t tested it.
Good to mention that if you want to only use it for one month, you have to cancel the subscription before the 15th or else it rolls over to the next.
So if you visit for 2 weeks and those happen to be the last 2 weeks of that month you always have to pay for 2 months of subscription.
You can still easily get value out of it, but for 98€ you may want to double check if it's actually worth it for you.
This is what got me lol
How do you cancel it on this app. Help!!!
What’s happens if I buy a DEutschland ticket on June 1st. Cancel on June 10th so it doesn’t renew. Will the June ticket at least be valid until the end of the month?
You're a fucking legend man. DB website was asking for direct bank deposit which wasn't possible using a Canadian bank...your method worked no issues
Hi, did you have troubles cancelling the subscription with the app?
Just be aware that long distance trains are excluded from the ticket. (ICEs, ICs and ECs)
Is there a website when one can easily check which routes they can take and plan travel
@@diogomrksIn the DB Navigator App there's a filter which gives you the option to only show regional transportation ✌🏼
Do you know if, for example I want to go from Berlin to Cologne, can i find any bus or train with deutschlandticket?
@@candiceclairee yes, for sure! Might take a while though, but definetly doable and possible.
@@candiceclairee i just looked it up. It‘d take about 10 h with a couple of transfers. So definetly quite a journey. If money is your main concern and you plan multiple trips, the Deutschlandticket might make sense for you. If you only want to go from berlin to cologne, you might be better off booking an ICE and maybe locan tickets for each city :)
Thanks for this info! I am a Canadian who has been looking into this ticket and it will be nice to buy one from here for September without having a European account.
HVV Switch also allows international addresses. It was incredibly helpful when we went earlier this month.
as a German with a German address I found the HVV process very annoying ... apparently they also check your credit history... and they don't answer emails for weeks.
Great advice!
😊✌️🇩🇪🥨
Nice footage of Switzerland.
I wish they sold them as a normal paper ticket
That’s so funny cause this App is my local transit agency’s App ;)
Didn’t know they were the inviting outliers xD
I've used my Belgian address, and my Belgian bank account, and it worked fine. Also Belgian credit cards work perfectly. I have been happily using the Deutschlandticket for 3 months now.
on a roll with these shorts!
Ich bin Geschwindigkeit
Your information is wrong. Deutsche Bahns Navigator runs also in English and with foreign address. And still you aren't allowed to take long-distance trains. Don't forget to cancel the monthky subscription in time!
This is the app I am using for the €49 ticket in June. I live in NL and my closest station is Herzogenrath. Mark (Seat 61) Smith recommended it. It's the best one for those of us not resident in Der Vaterland.
Please, stop calling Germany "Das (not "der") Vaterland". We too try not to call all of the Netherlands "Holland".
Ein in Deutschland geparkter Wohnwagen reicht inzwischen aus um die deutsche Staatsbürgerschaft zu erlangen.

I am not sure whether you noticed, but not all trains in this video run in Germany. For example the red one is from RhB in Switzerland
It should perhaps be mentioned that the €49 ticket is only sold as a subscription. Even if you can cancel it again within 4 weeks! You can't buy a single ticket like this!
Cool shirt dude
I wish we had this in the uk
I can't even imagine 😭
best app, really good for getting around
Only for local (s-bahn and u-bahn) and regional train travel, not for the ICE. Be prepared to pay on top if they catch you on the ICE mistakenly
You can cancel the subscription until the 10th a month
Yes, make sure to cancel if you’re only there for a short time :)
hi, can you also make a video about this cancellation in Fahrplaner App?
Wait you can buy a ticket for 49€ use it for 10 days and then just cancel it and get refunded? That sounds like a big scam 😅
Do u get refunded the 49e even if you have used it for 10 days? Lol
@@jackjackmillar Nah you dont. But if you dont cancel till the tenth youll hve to pay for the following month as well.
Berlins BVG Ticket App will work too.
it doesn't.
All regional transport companies allow the same, and even the A&O hostel application
Is it true that if you buy it via VRS (Cologne-Bonn transport association) you can cancel it any day and not only until the 10th of each month?
wtf??? And I'm paying 85 bucks a month for the CITY of Zurich alone. Something's not right here with our prices..
Yeah bro you kinda live in one the richest places on Earth
When you buy the ticket can you just hop on any regional train , no booking involved , just show the ticket , thanks
Yes :) reservations aren’t even possible in most cases.
@@thornton cheers
Though conditions of the regional transport applies. That could mean in certain regions taking a bike with you is included ... in other not. In certain places not only trams and buses are included but also ferries... in other cities not. Actually very confusing ... but worth asking if the D-Ticket applies here.
FahrPlaner is my local app anyway
we can purcbase this from platform itself right? but then how to cancel subscriptiom im this case where there is offline purchqse?
And how to get an eticket card through this?
How to cancel for the upcoming months on this app?
Hiii! Can you help me???
I’ve purchased it the app DB. The Qr-code is already available on the app
BUT the 49€ were not CHARGED on my credit card.
Don’t know what to do cause I’m not in Germany yet and can’t test it
How can you cancel it after a stay in Germany for a month. Thanks
db navigator also works!
dose it accept eu bank?
Can you not buy it at a train station?
Why its only 3*on a background?
thanks. the ticket is a great idea but why have restrictions on who can buy it. PS Luxembourg has free public transport
Try funding a rail system that’s privately owned on taxes wenn your around 15 times larger
Because it is funded by tax money and mainly aimed at helping low income households to stay mobile, since it's getting more and more expensive to own a car. It also helps with getting real data on how many people are actually using it without having to guesstimate the amount of tourists which makes it politically easier to justify infrastructure spending on local railways, which has been lacking for decades.
@@Jisttoturn Deutsche Bahn is a state-owned enterprise. Except for involvement in a few international subsidiaries, there is no private ownership
There are no restrictions legally, just some companies didn't consider foreign customers. Happens to me for example all the time with apps in the playstore , that's why I have different Google accounts with different addresses.
@@Jisttoturn15 times larger? - Not rather 150 times?
I have a Dutch address and was able to buy it through DB, so why would I use this app
How do you cancel your ticket on this app
How to buy one day ticket in this app?
can I use it from the app? or do they have to post me a physical ticket?
Via the app. No printing or physical tickets required. (your phone needs to be charged, of course)
I was able to buy it with Deutsche Bahn using my Spanish address
Thank you! Finally bought it with ukrainian card❤
@thornton hi, i received the email confirmation after buying D-ticket in Fahrplaner, but, the order number on the email is not being recognized when I tried to add it in the Deutsche bahn mobil app, so I can use it to by train ticket....any suggestion?
you will recieve another email with the ticket number, you should write that number not the order number
Did you get this sorted out @javilopmmm???
I can't find this is the apple app store.....
i have
Can i travel cities to cities by this ticket like(berlin - Münich
How to cancel my subscription?
As a German i think this is bad, that you can't easily order this ticket. Because I think this ticket will also help to become Germany more attractive to tourists.
Passport plonker ! LOL
What if you've got a Welsh address?
stop bothering the sheep
Deutsche Bahn works too
and how can i cancel subscription?
you don't. You are now German.
Please, check yours recommended!!! There are no possible to buy ticket without IBAN!!!🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️Only Germans with IBAN German bank card can but ticket 49eur. I am from outside of Germany and can’t buy this ticket!!!
Lol this video must be very old! I do not live in Germany but DB app allowed me to buy 49 EUR ticket by indicating my country and my address!
Hi, How did you present a bank account from outside Germany via DB app?
@@egowich IBAN, every european bank account has one.
@@Julylouco4french bank didn’t work for me🥲🤷♀️moved to germany and will have official adress registered only in 3 weeks, and couldn’t buy the ticket nor via db app, nor via public transport info point, the woman there said “you need to have getman adress + only german bank account”🤡 it’s Cologne.
I'm so happy for all the tourists who can enjoy cheap travel while the 49€ ticket killed the JobTicket and German low pay workers get to enjoy paying 50 bucks a month extra to commute to work. Yay!
If your company hasn't adapted the Jobticket to the new scheme and is paying you a lot salary, is they who are scamming you, not a tourist
Why would i wanna visit Germany?
DB is too expensive !
Fake! Credit card must be from Germany!

it is a subcribtion ticket. just saying.
or u can just buy it when you arrive in Germany ?!
If you have a German address and credit card
@@Jisttoturnyou don't even need a credit card, I bought with PayPal from Rheinbahn App
