Had an 06 with the V8 and loved it. Bought it used with over 100k miles on it, drove it as my daily for 2 years while putting another 30k miles on it. Only paid for oil changes and brakes. After those 2 years I sold it for 2k more than I paid for it! Basically this thing paid me 2k for 2 years of ownership and 30k miles of travel. I should have kept her, the one that got away.

2007 ! I never really understood just how good Toyotas are until I found Scotty on YT just a few years ago (lockdowns era redpill). I should have realized when my bought new 2003 Echo never even needed brakes after 100k+ miles but I gave it away to family member as the rust was infested bad in the hood latch area in Hawaii. I always was amazed how trouble-free it was though. --- Here it is 2023 and not being able to afford a new car over the last 20 yrs, I have a pristine '94 Corolla touring wagon that was used maybe 3 times a year, that I snapped up a couple yrs ago. Same trouble free, and no rust. Funny though that its rust free even its older than the '03.

I had a 2002 Taurus SES 24 valve and dtove it as main car for 15 years. One recall. And only replaced starter after 13 years and coil pack after 14 years. Of course tires and brakes. When I sold it, it was still good for more years. And this was a Michigan car that went thru 15 winters. Only a little rust on rust on rear wheel lip.

Still very good vehicles if thats what you want, i just like the 3 generation with the 3.4 . I get way more power and 23 mpg highway with the non-ethenal gas 19mpg with ethenal.
Keep looking and have the cash ready ,when you see a decent one pop up go immediately . Took me two years to find my 2002. Had about 10 of them disappear before i got there.😅

2000 GMT 800 ( silverado, sierra, tahoe, etc) Best vehicles ever made. parts are literally EVERYWHERE and cost pennys compared to yoda parts. not to mention you can fix the gm trucks with a hammer and duct tape. But with the cost of duct tape its cheaper to just fix it right. just my op. Thanks Sir Kilmer.

My mom has had her Lexus ES350 since the early 2000's, with no issues. I've had my 2003 GTI VR6 for 21 years (bought new October 2002), with no issues as well. Both cars have had minor stuff done, such as a cooling fan that crapped out, or an MAF oxygen sensor that failed. All inexpensive repairs under $500 dollars. The 24v VR6 is a bulletproof engine, and much better than the older 12v VR6, which had inferior timing chain guides. This engine was easily VW's best ever!

    Hello Scotty,
I have a question. A few days ago, when I stopped my car on the home front door, I depressed the brake pedal to a full stop. Then, I engaged the parking brake. The car was totally at full stop at that time, but I accidentally released my foot off the brake pedal. Then I accidentally put the shift lever from D to P without my foot on the brake pedal. While the car wasn’t rolling, and I didn’t feel anything weird, do you think this may affect negatively the transmission? Can it break the transmission?

I let her have it for a lot less than you paid for yours because she needed help and I bought a new American pickup truck and now my transmission has gone out at about 90,000 miles. Those Town cars, Crown Victoria cars, and Grand Marquis cars are all based on the same platform and they are tanks.
