So inspired. I am a baby gardener down in Tucson and so grateful for your resource. I had a bougainvillea that was munched like crazy last Fall…and so much poop fell on my plants under the plant. Let me tell you, my geranium has never looked so beautiful, even the javelina recently munched off the flowers. 😂 Like you have said, animals benefit our gardens much more than they take from it.

Tiffany, your celery is beautiful. I’m growing some for the first time this year and from seed. They’re still pretty young right now but I can actually smell the celery as I pass by. I planted some from a seed packet and I bought a celery seed spice jar and I figured I’d try some of those to see if they would grow and the germination rate was very low but some actually grew.
You’re so right about the insects having their time to eat vs ours. I bought some citrus trees last year and the other day I found some alien-looking grubs on one of them and I was starting to collect them to “get rid” of them. But, something made me stop and ask google who these creatures were that were eating my citrus and it was an “orange dog caterpillar” which later turns into a large swallowtail butterfly. I actually saw one of the butterflies yesterday but it wouldn’t perch long enough for me to get a decent photograph. It was as beautiful as it was large and all I could think was that if I had gotten rid of all of those caterpillars I would also be getting rid of this glorious butterfly. Also, it wouldn’t be able to help me with my pollination process.
Have a blessed and wonderful weekend and thanks for sharing your garden with us.

I just saw my first swallowtail butterfly a few days ago on my property! I was so excited. I am planting my garden as a Monarch butterfly way station to help the plight of those butterflies. Last year was a great success for me here. When I told my neighbor what I was doing she told me that now she knew why she has been seeing so many butterflies. I am now working on plantings to attract different kinds of butterflies. I am lucky to live on a one acre property so I can enjoy different kinds of gardens. Tiffany has taught me so much! I am happy you googled what you found. We can survive and live well without destroying all wildlife around us. We are special people!

@@juneramirez8580 I wish I was your neighbor 🤗🦋. I actually planted some milkweed last year to feed the monarchs and it worked. A bit too well. I only had six plants but two died. They were covered with caterpillars and I was so excited. I hope to get some more plants that are native to my region, southeast Florida. The leaves are coming back on the plants and the monarchs are still fluttering by.
I have a few butterfly species that were visiting before I added specific plants for them and the giant swallowtail was an added bonus. If you get to visually inspect their caterpillars you’ll see the spots and colorations that will be recognizable on the butterfly. It’s nice to find like-minded people. God bless your one acre and everything growing on it. Cheers!

@Karen Sterling the caterpillars that eat the citrus turn into so beautiful Butterflies. Its so hard seeing them eat the entire tree but it grows back so pretty. I think of it like if you mow grass vs letting cows eat it. The ripping of the grass makes it grow back fuller.

@@karensterling5246 we live across the country from each other. I am the low AZ desert. Did you plant tropical milkweed? I planted a bunch here and the monarchs chose it over the 3 native ones I grow. What I don't understand about the tropical not dying back in the winter in our southern areas and the parasites that collect on the tropicals. I did cut mine down to the ground in Feb like it was suggested. But none of my AZ native milkweed die back either and no one tells us to cut that back. I guess it has to do with more leaf space? Not one caterpillar was seen on the natives. I did have lot of Queen and smaller butterflies Even collected one thinking it was a monarch. They look alike in all stages. It hatched about the same time the monarch did so I could compare them. This year I hope to have a larger screened area for potted plants and caterpillars so it's not so much work for me.😊😊😊 I think with so many people planting milkweed it has helped the monarch population grow this passed year! Hope you have a wonderful growing year!

@@juneramirez8580 I have the native variety for my region. The orange/red colored ones were successful but the yellow variety didn’t take. I saw a couple of you tubers who grew their milkweeds in a screened off area and placed the caterpillars in them to keep them safe whilst they consume the leaves. Those guys have a voracious appetite.
I didn’t know about trimming them back either but they did start greening up from the bottom recently. I’m doing my best to do a sort of photo journal of the various wildlife that visit my space and the plants that they’re attracted to.
As far as the milkweed goes I believe the native varieties vary by region. I suppose that makes sense considering weather, soil and topographic variations.
I feel we could all do with happy gardening experiences this year considering the turbulent world events over the past couple of years. I think Mother Nature wants the same for us when we get unexpected visits from various animals/insects that bring a little joy to our 💕.
Thanks for sharing your feedback from across the country.

I have 2 very flushed parsley patches in my small balcony garden that are about 1 year old. If you don’t look close enough, you might think that they are celeries because they are so abundantly green and leafy😅.
Most likely, they will be used for fresh tabbouleh and pesto.

I love the concept of knowing when it’s your time to eat. I am curious about how to differentiate between the insects that will just decimate and damage your crop without recovery and those that will just eat eat but then plant will grow luscious again at which time it is our turn to eat. I will have to check out your videos and see how you apply this concept to various veggies.

Wow I learn so much from such a young person! I enjoy everyone of your vlogs. . Didn't know any of what you told us about celery. I think I heard from someone that celery was hard to grow here. Something about the length of time or high temps we get? But picking them at an earlier age from what you buy in a store solves that problem. I guess because we buy overgrown celery in stores that is what I am used to. I love your small garden vlogs. You teach us just how much we can grow in a well organized small garden. Love to see how you preserve your harvests. Again thank you so much. From just one of your fans in Glendale AZ.

I use local honey in foods, breads, and teas. The different herbs I mention will help with the symptoms and keeping your body strong but you don't want to forget the local honey.
