This is the only air conditioner controller that truly works. The app is a little convoluted and has features that are gimicky but, I am happy after trying the competition.
Pretty happy with this device, been using it with the Apple home and it works pretty good for automations. Still waiting for native home notifications, that would be the icing on the cake so I’m aware when automations are triggered. We don’t use the optional subscription and it has never been a problem
The tado is available outside Europe, it can be purchased from the largest electric goods retailer in Australia. They are also the same price here both being $179, I guess the tado is being marked up a lot.
(4:49) There may have a misconfiguration that led Apple Home to think that Sensibo controllers use Fahrenheit internally, hence the half-degree steps when using Celsius. (I'm not an Apple user, but this is one of the few videos I could find about the Sensibo Air. I couldn't find any videos about the Sensibo Air Pro!)
Excellent video thank you. I have a Sensibo Sky connected via Homebridge to Homekit. Recently acquired two Sensibo Air and these automatically connected via the Homebridge plug-in. I didn’t need to use the built-in HomeKit functionality.
@@homekitnews For the sake of trying I connected the Sensibo Air directly to HomeKit. It had exactly the same functions no matter how it’s connected to HomeKit. I guess I can say the plug-in works great as the HomeKit direct connection.
The sensibo air might work on remotes without a display since I saw a UA-cam video about the sensibo and the person was using an AC remote without a display and it still identified the remote.
I have heard this, but I was unable to test whether it’s accurate. Pretty much all the other manufacturers insist on this as a prerequisite for their AC controllers to work, so I’m not sure how Sensibo managed to avoid this.
We have Daikin ACs here but they’re probably about 5 years old at worst, so not quite as old as your Models. The remotes have been readable by the M2, and all of the AC controllers I’ve tested so far, including the aqara P3. I wonder if it’s possible the AC would work with a newer Daikin AC remote that can also be recognised by the M2.
Hi, I no longer have the Sensibo here, so I can’t test Siri with this particular device, but I does work with my other AC controllers (I just tested it with my Tado to make sure!) The Sensibo should be no different in this case. There also should be no reason why you can’t turn the Sensibo off in the Home app.

Hi, each Sensibo can control one AC unit - unless you have two in the same room and want them to be controlled at the same time with the same settings. So if you have 5 AC units generally you’d need 5 of these controllers

I believe I have an issue with the thermostat in the unit. I set it to 25°C, and the actual room temperature is around ~20°C (I have a thermometer), but after 10 minutes, the unit's thermostat shows the room temperature to be around 30-31°C, and it doesn't provide much or any heat. Essentially, the AC sensor detects a much higher room temperature compared to the actual room temperature. If I use the "IFeel" button on the remote, it displays the correct (real) temperature. I used only the "IFeel" button, but after a while, it goes back to the unit's sensor. What can I do?
It’s been a while since I tested this out, and I don’t currently use it, but is there an option to offset the temperature reading in the app? I know Tado has this feature.
Yep! Similar issue with the Vida Cool system for Mitsubishi Electric air conditioners sold in Singapore, that's expensive and it looked to me like it was more limited than the Sensibo Air Pro I decided to get. (I'm mostly looking into the official Sensibo API and connecting that to Home Assistant on my NAS for cross-ecosystem automations) I've been trying to see if there were ways to integrate it more, like drawing power from the control board of the indoor unit instead of using an external power adaptor, and a microcontroller set up to prevent the indoor unit from beeping when controlled by the Sensibo unit but still beep when controlled by the original remote. However, I've not had much luck yet, though I'm on to something now that this video showed where the sensors are located on the regular Air, and I'm assuming the locations would be the same on the Air Pro.

How does this device send the signal to the AC unit? Does it need to have line of sight to the AC or can it be connected to a power plug near floor behind sofa?
Not with this device, but the Switchbot hub 2 has an IR blaster that exposes up to 3 devices to HomeKit via Matter, although it would only be on/off in HomeKit.
I’m new to this side of things. How do you know it will be able to replicate your air conditioners remote? Does it work on all air conditioners remotes?
Theses types of devices are designed to do exactly that, replace your remote, for at least the main controls.The AC remote you have should have a display of sorts, with options to choose temperature and mode (heat, cool, auto etc). The device receives the basic IR signals from your original remote and determines what set of instructions the controller needs to download, via a database of 100s of different remotes. From there, it sends out signals in exactly the same way as you would with your remote, but with the ability to control it via HomeKit (or Google, Amazon etc).
I see that it is possible to program the device like you program a thermostat; however, my schedule is different from day to day. Is it possible to create a set of commands that I can easily switch between on the app or from google ... similar to turning on a lighting scene?
Hi, I can’t answer the question as it relates to Google, but it’s certainly possible with HomeKit, so you can just create a series of specific scenes involving the Sensibo Air with the parameters you want. I imagine there’s something similar with Google though.
It should work with practically any brand, and even if it doesn’t have the codes to a specific or rare AC unit, you can still teach it to learn the remote control for hour AC.
Not usually, it’s designed to work 1 for 1. If you have two ACs of the same type and the device can send a signal to both, then it can control both, but they will always be working on the same settings.
I have a mitsubishi mini split in the USA...wondering if this Sensibo Air is what I need for homekit control or will the Aqara P3 do a better job? I have an aqara hub and starter kit from Amazon right now....if i have 3 indoor units, would I need 3 Sensibo Air units or 3 Aqara P3 units??
The Sensibo Air will work fine with your mini split, as will the P3 (see my fuller separate answer re the P3 in the ‘hubs’ video). The P3 is a lot cheaper than the Sensibo, but the Sensibo is a lot easier to place due to it using a USB plug as opposed to a Chinese 16A plug. You may want to wait for the release of the forthcoming Mysa AC controller though, which should be out soon. Either way, you’d one each of these devices for each AC you wish to control, as they can only control one AC at a time, unless they’re all in one room, but even then they would be controlled as one AC together, not separately.
Hello guys, I saw the video, but I didn't quit get it. Is it fully compatible with Apple HomeKit, or do I have to run it through the app of Sensible? Thx in advance.
The Sensibo Air is fully compatible with HomeKit. You initially need the Sensibo app to set the device up. When I made this video, the device didn’t come with a HomeKit code, so I needed the app to generate the HomeKit code. The newer models now come with a HomeKit code on the device.

@@panagiotispapadopoulos8186 if you get an AC with WiFi built in, that will just give you an extra way of controlling the AC, but not in HomeKit. Having the Sensibo Air means you don’t need WiFi for your AC. The only time it might be required is if the location of your AC is not reachable via the Sensibo’s IR transmitter, but as long as nothing is in the way of the IR signal, you shouldn’t have any problems.

I believe that the remote has to have the option to change modes, as well as have a display that shows the temperature. If the remote has these, it should work.
@@RossMalagarie possibly not, although you should double check with Sensibo to be sure. All other AC controllers I’ve tested have had this requirement, but it’s possible that the Sensibo doesn’t. @@homekitnews Yeah the problem is I wanted this device to turn my window acs that don't have wifi into a wifi/smart ac so I can control my ac at home while I was at work, because if the ac has a remote with a display then it probably is wifi/smart already then I wouldn't need to pay $120 to make it smart? Hi, as I understand it, if it can identify your specific AC unit and model, it should only show the modes that your AC is capable of. If your AC doesn’t have a heat mode, then it shouldn’t show up in the Sensibo app.
Yes, as they use Infrared signals just like the remote control that came with your AC. If your original AC remote can’t reach another AC unit in another room, then it’s the same for the Sensibo Air.
Each unit is designed to work with one AC, as it uses IR to control your AC unit. If you had two ACs in the room, it might be possible to control them both if the IR signal could reach both at the same time, but it would control each AC exactly the same, so both would turn off, on, set the same temperature etc.
It mostly depends on the remote that comes with your AC. If it has a display that allows you to choose the different modes, as well as see the temperature it is set to, it should work.
Hi, they should be compatible with almost any brand, although you should first check their website for certainty. If your remote doesn’t have these, it’s less likely it will be compatible.
Can you change the temp with it so you for example have it set to 10degrees Celsius in the weeks and if u go to the cottage for the weekend u can raise the temp to 22 degrees?
Yes, you can program it do temperature changes based on days of the week in either the Sensibo or Home apps. Not sure it’d go as low as 10°C though. My AC units can’t get that low.
@@homekitnews My Sharp has a "vacation" mode that i use in the winter so to make the question more precise.... Can i disable the vacation mode and set it in the normal heat mode that begins at 18C.
@@krokodilen31 yes, that’s easy to program in the Sensibo app. If you were to use the Home app, then you could easily set an automation that triggers the AC to come on based on your location as well.
I've just read some awful reviews about this. I'm not sure if I dare try it now. There are a couple of other options you didn't mention. None are perfect, but they're options. The Aqara hubs with built in IR blasters have incredible functionality to run air conditioners. They have one downside, which for me is a big one. They connect to the air conditioner about every 20 minutes. Each time they do, the air conditioner beeps. But, you can fully utilise all modes (I mostly use dehumidify) and set multiple automations within the Aqara app to keep the temp within the range you want (drops lower, heat, goes higher, cool or dry, between x and y, turn off. And you can create Siri shortcuts to override the automations for a few minutes. I had It's a bit warm which set it to cool. Mostly used that if I'd been in the kitchen with the oven on or out in the garden in the sun and wanted to cool down quickly. Also had It's freezing for if I was cold (dehumidify function tends to chill the air beyond the set temp at times). So it was great, but the beep was annoying. I moved the G3 hub to a windowsill in another room to watch my driveway and had bought a switchbot hub mini for a bot, so have been using that on the air con. It's not as good, but no beeps. If you use the cool function rather than the dehumidify function it's probably perfectly fine, but if you set it to dehumidify you can't set a temperature, only lower the temperature by 3 degrees. It has been okay during our very mild spring weather, but summer has started to kick in now and it just doesn't cut it on a hot day if you're using dehumidify. Unfortunately I really need to use dehumidify as humidity causes hand pain for me so I'm a bit stuck! Maybe I'll get another M2 and use that on hot or humid days and use the switchbot other days. Hmmm.
Honestly I prefer the Tado or the Mysa for controlling my AC units, as they have on-device control. I think the Sensibo is overpriced. The reason I don’t include thr IR blaster options in the Aqara hubs to control ACs is they aren’t exposed to HomeKit. Whilst the two Ambi Climate devices aren’t exposed to HomeKit offically, there are plugins to get them into HomeKit, so that sets them apart in this respect.
@@homekitnews Ahhh, I see. I'll have to look into the Tado. There's no Australian version but the UK version can be used with an Australian power adapter. I can't find a mysa listing anywhere. Neither the Sensibo nor Ambi have the dehumidify mode in HomeKit so I would be stuck using their app anyway. With the 2 IR blasters I've managed to set automations and a couple of Siri shortcuts so I don't need to open the app very often. It would be nice if it was in HomeKit though. At least the data from the sensors is.

@@homekitnews oh great. Thanks! Yeah buying American stuff is tricky as our power is 240v here. Worth a look though. Especially now I’ve decided to get another Aqara hub to use on hot days and then make a proper decision after I’ve moved. Maybe the mysa will be available here by then.

I've been using a Lenovo IR blaster which is great & can control more than just my AC but anything with IR remote function. However is naturally doesn't have AC specific functions and only has the basic operation of on/off hot/cold, set temp, set fan speed. It cannot do manufacture specific functions, for EG my Samsung AC's have a "FAST" button. I cannot seem to find out if the Sensibo CAN do this or not. NO Review I've found comments on the app functionality V's what the remote can do. Dose anyone know???
Hi, most of these AC controllers for HomeKit can do almost all of the functions of your AC controller, but there are always some specific features that are missing unfortunately. It’s the same with the Sensibo. In their own app you get access to all the modes, but in HomeKit it’s more basic with only off, Heat, Cool, and Automatic exposed, along with speed.

I'm not a HomeKit user, Google assistant is my setup and it is probably the same that the app is full/most functioned, but Voice commands via google/alexa/homekit will be limited to the basic functions...
I’m not currently using the Sensibo, as I already have quite a few other devices that do the same thing, the Tado Smart AC Controller V3+, but on my Google Nest Hub you only get access to the temperature, heat - cool - off, and an option for schedules, so I imagine it’ll be much the same with thr Sensibo as far as Google is concerned.
You can also just place them on a shelf. As these devices generally all use WiFi, batteries would probably last a couple of weeks at best. Hopefully if a Thread enabled one came out, it would be a different story, although it’s also possible that the built in IR blasters these devices contain need a fair bit of power.
@@homekitnews Why? A remote uses also IR and lasts for years. Also there is wifi devices that last for years. Since this one has a touch function, it would be neat to place it next to the door above the light switch.
@@ctlspl I’m not aware of a battery operated smart WiFi device that can last very long on battery power alone. If you know of one, please let me know and I’ll be glad to say I’m wrong.
@@ctlspl I'll give you some credit for actually finding a WiFi device that uses batteries, but come on now... Have you seen the size of the batteries it uses? 6 x 1.5v D size! just four of those together is about the size of The Hulk's fist! It also offers a wired power option for sensible people. Still, you're comparing apples and oranges here, as the Moen doesn't have the kind of sensors that need to be constantly monitoring the air, like humidity and temperature. These sensors are the reason you can't have a battery-powered AC controller, and if anyone thinks it would be a good idea to have 6 x D size batteries instead of a USB cable, needs to think twice. The only sensor device that measures these metrics and uses WiFi that I'm aware of is by iHome, and it's not battery-powered either.

Hi Edwin, I have noticed that the P3 will sync the state and temperature when a signal is sent from the Sensibo. I’ll have to check if it works in the opposite way, with the Sensibo reacting to the signal from the P3. I’ll get back to you.
Interesting. I recently got a Sensibo Air Pro that I use with a Mitsubishi Electric air conditioner (purchased and installed in 2020), and it does actually sync with the remote for that! Even in the log on the 'graphs', it knows when the indoor unit had been controlled using the original remote. My guess is that Sensibo either sent out a software update to enable that, or it might be exclusive to the Air Pro.

Rechargeable Lithium batteries, yes, but can you imagine the size of it if you had to install a battery of a size similar to a doorbell? Not to mention the increased costs. Note that all devices of this type are the same, so you won’t be able to find something that supports HomeKit and is battery powered.
@@borislavtodorov6191 in HomeKit, if you’re on iOS15.1, you can now use the humidity sensor readings in automations. You can also do the same for the temperature sensor.
@@borislavtodorov6191 the Sensibo will only show the humidity levels in the settings when viewing it in the Apple Home app, but you can still use the humidity levels in automations, as long as you’re running iOS 15.1.
DOnt get why u ever would need this? We have two daikin pumps at home. Both can be controlled by the daikin app both iphone or android. I can see history and how much power it draws and the tempsens history. I can turn it off and on and set whatever temp or mode with my phone in house and even outside/away. So this is such a lame thing in my world.
But not everyone has the AC that you have, so whilst it’s of no use to you, it may well be of a lot of use to many others, especially those who want to have an AC controlled within HomeKit.
But nearly all of them won’t have HomeKit, which is where these products fill a gap. Most people with smart homes these days don’t want to jump from app to app to see or control devices, they want a sensor or smart light from one company to work with an AC controller from another, which is the whole point as to why HomeKit (as well as Google, Alexa) is popular.

Interesting. It's harder for me to get in Singapore, but Sensibo devices are easier to get thanks to there being an authorised distributor here.

The Aqara Hub M2 has both zigbee and IR controller, in my case however, the 20 year old Daikin A/C IR protocol is not supported.
Does the Daikin remote come with a display that shows the different modes and temperature etc?

How does this device send the signal to the AC unit? Does it need to have line of sight to the AC or can it be connected to a power plug near floor behind sofa?
It uses infrared, just like the remote control it replaces, so it does need some measure of line-of-sight.

Not with this device, but the Switchbot hub 2 has an IR blaster that exposes up to 3 devices to HomeKit via Matter, although it would only be on/off in HomeKit.
I’m new to this side of things. How do you know it will be able to replicate your air conditioners remote? Does it work on all air conditioners remotes?
Theses types of devices are designed to do exactly that, replace your remote, for at least the main controls.The AC remote you have should have a display of sorts, with options to choose temperature and mode (heat, cool, auto etc). The device receives the basic IR signals from your original remote and determines what set of instructions the controller needs to download, via a database of 100s of different remotes. From there, it sends out signals in exactly the same way as you would with your remote, but with the ability to control it via HomeKit (or Google, Amazon etc).

These devices need to get their IR codes from a remote in order to be set up, so if a device doesn’t come with a remote, you can’t use it.
I see that it is possible to program the device like you program a thermostat; however, my schedule is different from day to day. Is it possible to create a set of commands that I can easily switch between on the app or from google ... similar to turning on a lighting scene?
Hi, I can’t answer the question as it relates to Google, but it’s certainly possible with HomeKit, so you can just create a series of specific scenes involving the Sensibo Air with the parameters you want. I imagine there’s something similar with Google though.

It should work with practically any brand, and even if it doesn’t have the codes to a specific or rare AC unit, you can still teach it to learn the remote control for hour AC.
Can it work with more than 1 air conditioner in the same time.
Not usually, it’s designed to work 1 for 1. If you have two ACs of the same type and the device can send a signal to both, then it can control both, but they will always be working on the same settings.
I have a mitsubishi mini split in the USA...wondering if this Sensibo Air is what I need for homekit control or will the Aqara P3 do a better job? I have an aqara hub and starter kit from Amazon right now....if i have 3 indoor units, would I need 3 Sensibo Air units or 3 Aqara P3 units??
The Sensibo Air will work fine with your mini split, as will the P3 (see my fuller separate answer re the P3 in the ‘hubs’ video). The P3 is a lot cheaper than the Sensibo, but the Sensibo is a lot easier to place due to it using a USB plug as opposed to a Chinese 16A plug. You may want to wait for the release of the forthcoming Mysa AC controller though, which should be out soon. Either way, you’d one each of these devices for each AC you wish to control, as they can only control one AC at a time, unless they’re all in one room, but even then they would be controlled as one AC together, not separately.

The Sensibo Air is fully compatible with HomeKit. You initially need the Sensibo app to set the device up. When I made this video, the device didn’t come with a HomeKit code, so I needed the app to generate the HomeKit code. The newer models now come with a HomeKit code on the device.

@@panagiotispapadopoulos8186 if you get an AC with WiFi built in, that will just give you an extra way of controlling the AC, but not in HomeKit. Having the Sensibo Air means you don’t need WiFi for your AC. The only time it might be required is if the location of your AC is not reachable via the Sensibo’s IR transmitter, but as long as nothing is in the way of the IR signal, you shouldn’t have any problems.

So all any AC needs for this smart device to control it is the AC must have a remote?
I believe that the remote has to have the option to change modes, as well as have a display that shows the temperature. If the remote has these, it should work.

@@RossMalagarie possibly not, although you should double check with Sensibo to be sure. All other AC controllers I’ve tested have had this requirement, but it’s possible that the Sensibo doesn’t. @@homekitnews Yeah the problem is I wanted this device to turn my window acs that don't have wifi into a wifi/smart ac so I can control my ac at home while I was at work, because if the ac has a remote with a display then it probably is wifi/smart already then I wouldn't need to pay $120 to make it smart? Hi, as I understand it, if it can identify your specific AC unit and model, it should only show the modes that your AC is capable of. If your AC doesn’t have a heat mode, then it shouldn’t show up in the Sensibo app.

Do I need a Sensibo device for each AC unit I have?
Yes, as they use Infrared signals just like the remote control that came with your AC. If your original AC remote can’t reach another AC unit in another room, then it’s the same for the Sensibo Air.
One device can connect to how many AC?
Each unit is designed to work with one AC, as it uses IR to control your AC unit. If you had two ACs in the room, it might be possible to control them both if the IR signal could reach both at the same time, but it would control each AC exactly the same, so both would turn off, on, set the same temperature etc.
Will this work with a york brand air conditioner ?
It mostly depends on the remote that comes with your AC. If it has a display that allows you to choose the different modes, as well as see the temperature it is set to, it should work.

Hi, they should be compatible with almost any brand, although you should first check their website for certainty. Additionally, most of these types of devices are basically replicating your hand held remote for your AC, and it’s important that the remote has a display that can show the temperature, and the different modes. If your remote doesn’t have these, it’s less likely it will be compatible.

Can you change the temp with it so you for example have it set to 10degrees Celsius in the weeks and if u go to the cottage for the weekend u can raise the temp to 22 degrees?
Yes, you can program it do temperature changes based on days of the week in either the Sensibo or Home apps. Not sure it’d go as low as 10°C though. My AC units can’t get that low.
@@homekitnews My Sharp has a "vacation" mode that i use in the winter so to make the question more precise.... Can i disable the vacation mode and set it in the normal heat mode that begins at 18C.
@@krokodilen31 yes, that’s easy to program in the Sensibo app. If you were to use the Home app, then you could easily set an automation that triggers the AC to come on based on your location as well.

I've just read some awful reviews about this. I'm not sure if I dare try it now.
There are a couple of other options you didn't mention. None are perfect, but they're options. The Aqara hubs with built in IR blasters have incredible functionality to run air conditioners. They have one downside, which for me is a big one. They connect to the air conditioner about every 20 minutes. Each time they do, the air conditioner beeps. But, you can fully utilise all modes (I mostly use dehumidify) and set multiple automations within the Aqara app to keep the temp within the range you want (drops lower, heat, goes higher, cool or dry, between x and y, turn off. And you can create Siri shortcuts to override the automations for a few minutes. I had It's a bit warm which set it to cool. Mostly used that if I'd been in the kitchen with the oven on or out in the garden in the sun and wanted to cool down quickly. Also had It's freezing for if I was cold (dehumidify function tends to chill the air beyond the set temp at times). So it was great, but the beep was annoying. I moved the G3 hub to a windowsill in another room to watch my driveway and had bought a switchbot hub mini for a bot, so have been using that on the air con. It's not as good, but no beeps. If you use the cool function rather than the dehumidify function it's probably perfectly fine, but if you set it to dehumidify you can't set a temperature, only lower the temperature by 3 degrees. It has been okay during our very mild spring weather, but summer has started to kick in now and it just doesn't cut it on a hot day if you're using dehumidify. Unfortunately I really need to use dehumidify as humidity causes hand pain for me so I'm a bit stuck! Maybe I'll get another M2 and use that on hot or humid days and use the switchbot other days. Hmmm.
Honestly I prefer the Tado or the Mysa for controlling my AC units, as they have on-device control. I think the Sensibo is overpriced. The reason I don’t include thr IR blaster options in the Aqara hubs to control ACs is they aren’t exposed to HomeKit. Whilst the two Ambi Climate devices aren’t exposed to HomeKit offically, there are plugins to get them into HomeKit, so that sets them apart in this respect.
@@homekitnews Ahhh, I see. I'll have to look into the Tado. There's no Australian version but the UK version can be used with an Australian power adapter. I can't find a mysa listing anywhere.
Neither the Sensibo nor Ambi have the dehumidify mode in HomeKit so I would be stuck using their app anyway. With the 2 IR blasters I've managed to set automations and a couple of Siri shortcuts so I don't need to open the app very often. It would be nice if it was in HomeKit though. At least the data from the sensors is.

Yeah buying American stuff is tricky as our power is 240v here. Worth a look though. Especially now I’ve decided to get another Aqara hub to use on hot days and then make a proper decision after I’ve moved. Maybe the mysa will be available here by then.

I've been using a Lenovo IR blaster which is great & can control more than just my AC but anything with IR remote function.
However is naturally doesn't have AC specific functions and only has the basic operation of on/off hot/cold, set temp, set fan speed.
It cannot do manufacture specific functions, for EG my Samsung AC's have a "FAST" button.
I cannot seem to find out if the Sensibo CAN do this or not.
NO Review I've found comments on the app functionality V's what the remote can do.

Hi, most of these AC controllers for HomeKit can do almost all of the functions of your AC controller, but there are always some specific features that are missing unfortunately. It’s the same with the Sensibo. In their own app you get access to all the modes, but in HomeKit it’s more basic with only off, Heat, Cool, and Automatic exposed, along with speed.

I'm not a HomeKit user, Google assistant is my setup and it is probably the same that the app is full/most functioned, but Voice commands via google/alexa/homekit will be limited to the basic functions...
I’m not currently using the Sensibo, as I already have quite a few other devices that do the same thing, the Tado Smart AC Controller V3+, but on my Google Nest Hub you only get access to the temperature, heat - cool - off, and an option for schedules, so I imagine it’ll be much the same with thr Sensibo as far as Google is concerned.

You can also just place them on a shelf. As these devices generally all use WiFi, batteries would probably last a couple of weeks at best. Hopefully if a Thread enabled one came out, it would be a different story, although it’s also possible that the built in IR blasters these devices contain need a fair bit of power.
@@homekitnews Why? A remote uses also IR and lasts for years. Also there is wifi devices that last for years. Since this one has a touch function, it would be neat to place it next to the door above the light switch.

@@ctlspl I'll give you some credit for actually finding a WiFi device that uses batteries, but come on now... Have you seen the size of the batteries it uses? 6 x 1.5v D size! just four of those together is about the size of The Hulk's fist! It also offers a wired power option for sensible people. Still, you're comparing apples and oranges here, as the Moen doesn't have the kind of sensors that need to be constantly monitoring the air, like humidity and temperature. These sensors are the reason you can't have a battery-powered AC controller, and if anyone thinks it would be a good idea to have 6 x D size batteries instead of a USB cable, needs to think twice. The only sensor device that measures these metrics and uses WiFi that I'm aware of is by iHome, and it's not battery-powered either.

Hi Edwin, I have noticed that the P3 will sync the state and temperature when a signal is sent from the Sensibo. I’ll have to check if it works in the opposite way, with the Sensibo reacting to the signal from the P3. I’ll get back to you.
Just checked; it seems the Sensibo can get the P3 to accept signals, but the Sensibo doesn’t react when signals are sent from the P3.
Interesting. I recently got a Sensibo Air Pro that I use with a Mitsubishi Electric air conditioner (purchased and installed in 2020), and it does actually sync with the remote for that! Even in the log on the 'graphs', it knows when the indoor unit had been controlled using the original remote.
My guess is that Sensibo either sent out a software update to enable that, or it might be exclusive to the Air Pro.

If it was battery powered, they’d last probably 1 week. WiFi is power hungry, and would go through batteries really fast.

Rechargeable Lithium batteries, yes, but can you imagine the size of it if you had to install a battery of a size similar to a doorbell? Not to mention the increased costs. Note that all devices of this type are the same, so you won’t be able to find something that supports HomeKit and is battery powered.

@@homekitnews sensibo has a humidity sensor . Does it do something controlling humidity according temperature or just shows humidity as a level.
@@borislavtodorov6191 in HomeKit, if you’re on iOS15.1, you can now use the humidity sensor readings in automations. You can also do the same for the temperature sensor.

DOnt get why u ever would need this? We have two daikin pumps at home. Both can be controlled by the daikin app both iphone or android. I can see history and how much power it draws and the tempsens history. I can turn it off and on and set whatever temp or mode with my phone in house and even outside/away. So this is such a lame thing in my world.
But not everyone has the AC that you have, so whilst it’s of no use to you, it may well be of a lot of use to many others, especially those who want to have an AC controlled within HomeKit.

But nearly all of them won’t have HomeKit, which is where these products fill a gap. Most people with smart homes these days don’t want to jump from app to app to see or control devices, they want a sensor or smart light from one company to work with an AC controller from another, which is the whole point as to why HomeKit (as well as Google, Alexa) is popular.
