  • Surveillance video shows an altercation between country star Chris Young and Tennessee Alcoholic Beverage Commission (ABC) agents Monday, Jan. 22, 2024 at Dawg House bar in Nashville.
Young, 38, was charged Monday night with resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and assault on an officer, according to court records filed Tuesday morning.
"In light of the video evidence, Tennessee ABC needs to drop the charges and apologize for the physical, emotional and professional harm done towards my client," Young's attorney Bill Ramsey said in a statement.

This is just one of those, "Well, we went to the bar...." kind of stories/situations. You know, an odd incident that involves cops, damage, injury or hurt feelings that just rarely ever arises for a person when they are sober.

Actually this isn't the place where it all started but it's the place where the agents went after checking Chris Young from the other place and they done some things that seemed unusual about checking things out like taking a picture of Chris Young's ID so he went over to the place where the agents went to get some information. Him and his friends walked in and seen the agents headed their way so when they got to them Chris Young stuck his hand out to stop the agent so he could ask him about why taking the picture of his ID. Instead of waiting to see why Chris Young stopped him he pushed Chris into the bar and he hit a stool and fell. If Chris wanted trouble then he would've jumped back at the agent and pushed him but he didn't because he didn't want any trouble. They need to make a video from when it first started to the end.

Nice spin, but it's clear Chris' crew was waiting on the agents and Chris instigated the assault by pushing the agent who is trained to use significant force to make an assailant reconsider attacking futher. Which in Chris' case meant that his intoxicated self fell over the edge of the bar and into the table and chairs. Chris then continued to run his mouth like he has done in past bar altercations. The officers weren't having it, and likely he made threatening remarks which led to the officers actually detaining him. Note these snippets do not follow what happened at that point, they all cut off. It would be good to se unedited snippets.

If you look under 50 you are carded, it is a method to track troublemakers too... Chris happens to have a history which is likely why 1)He didn't want them to know who he was 2)Why he pursued them 3)Why his attorney is attempting to get people on Chris' side by releasing partial videos. That will end pretty quick when full video evidence is released to the public.

If the cop was taking his pic. Then he was breaking the law. So in that case cops don't have the right to invade privacy. Or put hands on a person either. Still' dogs are dogs. & drunk dogs, more so. Tenn. Is already a lousy tiolet. way they pass laws. & violate citizen rights.

The officer escalated the situation. It clearly was a friendly gesture similar to extending your hand out for a handshake. This is why charges were dismissed and disciplinary action should be taken against the officer.

Well, the charge is bogus, but neither one is wrong. The officer shoved him bc he shouldn't have laid his hand on the officer. You have no right to do that. But he didn't shove him that hard, the guy was clearly drunk and stumbled.

Chris and his entourage should not have been following and/or harassing these agents. He needs to check his ego.

    • @davidthompson1529

@@goldenhair7195 it was reported that Chris was only going to ask the agent why he had photographed his ID at the 1st bar. It didnt need to be escalated by that agent. The "ego" was clearly the cops. Most cops today get all bent out of shape if a simple question is asked. They see it as a challenge of their presumed authority and escalate things quickly. It needs to be stopped.

@@davidthompson1529my thing is, if he took a picture of his license, it’s the same as writing the license number down, like I’ve done so many times at work.
Why do you have to follow someone while they do their job? There’s no reason to follow and continue the situation when you could just walk away.
If the original incident occurred at another bar, that means the agents had already moved on. Chris Young followed them to a new bar to continue the confrontation.

@@callen0892 He's a Celebrity and that pic could have been sold to tabloids and create an image of wrong doing. Perhaps he wanted ask him not to do that. Either way, he had a right to atleast ask. He clearly wasnt belligerent. The cop was pissed because he felt his AuTHORITY was being challenged. EGO. There really was no need to record it or write it down. There was no civil or criminal issue going on. It was merely an age requirement check. That in itself is questionable Constitutionally. Since when do we allow law enforcement to just walk into places and demand to see "your papers"??? Traffic stop? Sure. Criminal complaint??? Sure. But sitting in public and having to identify yourself for no reason??? Clear 4th Amendment violation. Police state tactics.

@@davidthompson1529 being a celebrity gives you no more rights than a normal person. It’s illegal for law enforcement to share information from IDs they gather.
He allowed the officers to check his ID. They used their usual software to do so, apparently he didn’t like that. Boo hoo. He will be fine.
But I would NEVER try to stop an officer by sticking my arm out OR following them to the next bar after they already checked my ID.
