That's strange. In Pikmin 1, the pellet is part of the posy's model, and the type of pellet it drops is encoded in the GEN File information just like all other enemies that drop pellets (though a flag for cycling the color will make it ignore the color from the GEN File).
I'm so glad this channel is still uploading content related to Pikmin 2 glitches! I got one for you since I haven't seen it here at all (or at least last time I checked). Be warned, the results are meant to be a game crash, I just want to know what is causing it via error handler. Over 10 years ago I played Pikmin 2 with a friend on vs. I wasn't that good on vs so I was constantly losing, to be point I planned something to stop the game, and it actually worked! My friend then got mad and tried to replicate it, but it didn't work. Here's what I did: 1. Get the marbel from the other team into your onion. 2. As soon as it's about to play the cutscene, the player with the stolen marbel has to hit pause. If you did everything right the game will crash. I'm certain this is caused due to two flags being active while only one should, but I'm very interested in what the error handler says. Would love to see this game crash documented in this channel since I haven't seen it elsewhere!
Thanks! Was the crash something like this? ua-cam.com/video/kgguJLQgfN4/v-deo.html If the music was still going, it might have been a softlock instead of a crash, so no error handler would display. Still, nice job finding this so long ago! There are a couple of crashes that I haven't gotten around to recording yet, though I'm not feeling too motivated to do so, as I don't really understand exactly how they work at the moment.
@@grassdigger8695 No, there was no music when I paused it, the whole game froze. Perhaps it's a variation of the one you sent but done in a perfect frame? Thanks! I actually meant to write this some time ago but forgot; and it's fine you could try it whenever you have the time. I'll try to replicate it sometime and if I do get results I'll let you know. Till then, good luck doing it yourself!
@@SuprRooster Hmm, I'll ask some people who know about this softlock and figure out if they know more about it, then I'll report back to you. If they don't know, I'll look into it some myself.
I can guess why the limit is 48. There can only be 100 pikmin on the field at a time, and the smallest pellets will yield 2 pikmin when taken to an onion of the same color. This means 48 pellets have the minimum potential to produce 96 pikmin. Of course some maps will initially cap the platoon size to 95 to accommodate 5 wild pikmin, which means pellets of that color will only produce 1 pikmin when taken to an onion at the base.
I had a glitch one time where I got ultra-spicy spray without having ultra-spicy spray unlocked, and you can actually use the spray as well (note: I did have ultra-bitter spray unlocked, and I got the ultra-spicy spray via defeated a stone enemy)
Ah, yea that's been known for a while. Basically, the game assumes that you have both spicy and bitter sprays by the time you can kill petrified enemies, so they can drop spicy and bitter nectar drops. Fun fact: you can also have the reverse scenario: getting ultra-bitter sprays when you only have ultra-spicy sprays unlocked, but it's harder. I have a video about it: ua-cam.com/video/pBMrsDrzGn4/v-deo.html
Good question! I tested that without recording, and the Empty Posy will still be empty, even when you kill it. If you make a pellet disappear before the Pellet Posy matures, then it will have its pellet as usual.
@@grassdigger8695 Ah, thought it would've stayed silent like that. As for the 48 cap, I'm guessing that has something to do with everything else going on in the area (maybe that's specific to Awakening Wood and the other areas have different caps due to different things going on?).
I love seeing all of these weird glitches in one of my favorite games. Its really a shame pikmin 2 doesnt get the attention it deserves.

That's strange that they changed pellet posies, given how much stuff they recycled from the first game

48, such an odd cap. What if you make one disappear (by using it to grow more Pikmin)? Would one spawn in the Empty Posey then?

@@MinkeyTheFiftyFirst Nope, it's always a 48 cap, it's a global setting. It is a weird value to pick to be sure.
Can you ever see the internals of a pellet posie like this without reaching the pellet spawn cap?
