They should make the 7 dwarfs like you said everyday people. Maybe one is a real estate agent, one works at a coffee shops, one works at a jewelry store, one works with animals, one’s a teacher, one’s a real doctor… etc. I hope they don’t eliminate the dwarfs in the movie! Seeing little people on the big screen is so important ❤ love you Tori and Zach

Yes, I like to explain that to other parents. If your kid sees a disabled person, and you angrily whisper, "Don't stare!" They're gonna come out of that moment with the message that "different = bad." But if you turn it into a positive interaction, where you explain the disability and/or assistive technologies in a positive light, then you'll have a kid like mine who would randomly say things like, "Mommy, I wish I could go zoom zoom on a wheelchair," when he was little.

I have several friends with dwarfism. I took my grandsons over to visit with my friends children. My oldest grandson(4 at the time) is exceptionally tall. My friend's son is older but obviously much shorter. He didn't understand at all why my grandson didn't know how to read when he was so tall. It was a learning experience for all of us but we handled it with humor and lighthearted education. The boys weren't afraid to ask each other questions after that. As a society, we need to normalize respectful questions. Acceptance comes through understanding. I homeschooled my 8 kids. I understand all about rude questions and statements from strangers.

      @justylex 2 місяці тому +17

@@sharonmartin1223would have nothing? Seriously? Maybe they would have had NORMAL childhoods. Maybe his parents would not have split up. Maybe he would have been closer to his brother with less drama. Maybe he would have found own path, like so many of us do. I am willing to bet that without reality TV, Zach and Tori would still be a married couple with 3 kids, and a little more privacy. There is something wrong with parents who want to expose their children and family drama to the world for money.

@@sandie1214I'm not a fan. I get tired of these Kids using their parents to make money while bad mouthing their parents ( who without said parents would be nobody's) They are the ones that made a pod cast and I just call bull crap on most of what he says. None of them work. I think they gave a sweet family but I think it's rude to keep Children away from grand parents that love them and use them as a Weapon. I think theirbparents have worked hard and raised them doing what they thought was best for them. I think he is very ungrateful and I think Tori is very ungrateful and they can get out and do a real job and not tell everyone who is really working hard how to live their life. Not everyone in this world gets to go to Disneyland whenever they want gets to run races and not actually go to work. They act very entitled very..so I don't watch them but I like the unplanned podcast but I don't like how these Children have treated either of his parents

Tori is correct! Moms who are having babies with any less common thing like dwarfism do tend to have excess fluid! I had a son with a form of dwarfism and had excess fluid. The doctors at OSU told me that’s common. Your body knows something isn’t quite right and it’s trying to sort of “heal” that even if it can’t. *your body isn’t healing dwarfism but something that can go with it like kidney issues or lung issues.

Also, I just want to say...the whole idea of snow white is her skin is snow white. People weren't annoyed because a Hispanic was in it. I'd love to know how Zach and Tori would advise parents whose children have their own challenges and cannot understand why they need to not stare, or when the appropriate time is to ask a question (loudly) about what makes another child or adult look different. My oldest has autism, and we have speech at the same time as a child with dwarfism. My son cannot understand the appropriate approach to asking a question because he is still learning social cues. I wish I had someone to ask, but the child's parent is never in the waiting room when we are interacting with the child.

parents should be proactive and teach their kids about disability. there's multiple children's books out now with disabled characters or explaining disability in an age appropriate way. you shouldn't wait to teach your kids until you see a disabled person in public and are forced to acknowledge it. this is not fair to disabled people who have to stop their day to teach other people's kids. disability is not some shameful scary thing, so parents should teach kids about it like they would about any other diverse population. kids are not prejudiced like adults and will take it at face value, it's the only way to truly normalize it.

I’m 4’10. I use to follow the show. I turn 61 on Friday the 13th and I’m a lifetime member of little people of America. I’ve had a lot of health issues ever since including severe seizures back in 2023 and on 5/10/24 so I’m not medically cleared to drive for six months nor am I cleared to go back to work until next year. I would be at my job sorting and packing apples six years today

Zach, I love how you were so outspoken about everything. Matt and Abby did a wonderful job with this interview. Love Zach and Tori and how they cared about their family dynamics. Zach was very outspoken about leaving the show and he does have 3 other siblings who did leave: Jeremy, Molly and Jacob.

Zach, tubes are not necessarily permanent. My child had nonstop ear infections, needed tubes at 9 months. They naturally fell out. He was speech delayed because he wasn't hearing sounds, so we did speech therapy. But the ear tubes allowed his ears to heal because he wasn't constantly in pain with ear infections. Quality of life versus inconvenience of using ear plugs.

I’ve been watching the show since the very first episode that aired! Zach and Tori were my favourite people on the show! I stopped watching this season that just aired, I basically only kept watching for Zach and Tori! I love how real and honest and down to earth they are!!

Wow Zack I’m also do what I’m told person but I’m working through it. With that said I’m your parents age, so I’m happy you saw this as young as you are. It’s a hard road for anyone but knowing yourself at your age would have made life much easier. WTG young man.

I watched LPBW less than more over the years (stopped watching once the new parent relationships started and there was a lot of drama on the show. But I wanted to say that even I found this episode educational and you guys were so careful and respectful in your talking. If all people would interact with someone "other" than themselves in such a manner, the world would be such a better and more peaceful place.
I feel for Zach feeling lost a bit in what he can do now being established but also not having other work experience beyond growing up on reality TV and coaching soccer. Personally, I think he should go to school either to be a child psychologist or a school coach, he definitely has the heart and perspective to be great at both!

Words have different meanings..even in the same lanquage, from different countries. In Canada I was called a midget because I was short stare with no " physical abnormalities ". I was born with twisted legs below the knees and was in casts and braces until I was in school. However was not a dwarf as I had no chromosomal differences. So I was raised that midgets were people of below average height but no abnormalities. I was lucky that when I reached 18 yrs old I had a ..for me... massive growth spurt.. and it put me over 5 feet. So I agree with Zach... I went by tone and context if I was called a midget as a kid. I have other health issues that I have lived with my entire life that are not physically noticeable just looking at me but I certainly remember the teasing and bullying in my childhood.

In the 70's elementary school, kids' football was called "Mid*et football." never once did we think it was mean or hateful it was because they weren't Jr high or Sr high size. I love Tori and Zack and those 3 children are adorable. Who cares how tall you are, it's the same with everyone else, it's who you are that matters.

The M word was originally used for people with specific forms of dwarfism different to this. It meant a person who was small but proportionate. Like many words we now find offensive it wasn't always viewed as a slur. It seems like every neutral descriptor of any physical (or especially intellectual) disability eventually gains enough of a negative connotation over years of use that they all end up falling out of favor.

This is a big part of why the DSM is updated so often in mental health. Mental health conditions gain stigma very quickly, and once they are associated with certain movies or stereotypes they are often renamed again.

Everything is a “bad” word these days- look at how ridiculous it has become- hunger is now food insecurity? WTH? Now the M word is banned?

I became very interested when I heard about how Zach has hydrocephalus and had to get a shunt. I had to also get a shunt when I was a baby because I have hydrocephalus and this is the first time I've heard someone else mention they have it as well. I can also relate to having a shunt replacement when I was 6 years old because it malfunctioned. Even though it has been 8 years, I'm still terrified that is it going to malfunction again.
