Wow Drew, that was incredible! I have just returned to California, 10 months in after 18 years of living and working as a photographer/director in Taiwan. This video really struck a chord with me. The shots are beautiful, and the pacing of the video is perfect. That Steely Dan shirt is a bonus! Wonderful Video thanks for making it!
So sick dude. Totally resonate with wanting to document life as it presents itself in front of you, whether it’s far off or right here. Thanks for sharing this!
This is awesome. I just shot my first rodeo the other day in Wanaka, NZ and im hooked. Cant wait for the next one. Also great line- 'Go find your story and start shooting'
When I got my first Leica, it felt like getting a magical sword in a fairy tale. There was so much mystique in the name and history that it got me out and shooting more. You might want to consider your next steps as documenting the people in the rodeo world outside of the venue. I’m sure they all have stories to tell.
I’m not sure how I found you and when I subscribed to your channel, but I’m glad I did. Leica’s are expensive and I see why. The clicks with the changing of the photos was topnotch. This a great video, especially ones of you being recorded while taking pictures. Great success to you and your channel. Happy New Year!!
loads of portra and Kodak stocks. sometimes didn't have the stock and had to pick up ultramax or fuji 400 from the closest walgreens on the way to our destination. if there's a shot you would like to know about please DM me or email me and I'll tell you the specs.
Great video Drew; I’ve been documenting rodeos on film in WI for a few years now as a long form project. If you haven’t already check out the rodeo work of Norman Mauskopf and Bill Allard, both big inspirations of mine.
thanks for the recommendations, i'm glad i went into it without a reference though. seeing others work spooks me out of doing the cliches but cliches can be glorious
@ gotta shoot the cliches yourself to get past them and discover what’s new in my opinion. You’ll figure that out naturally going to more rodeos though. Think of following dress code if you want to really have an easy time with access.
subscribe for the next upload! thanks for watching friends

What's your camera setup for the video part of these videos?
most of this was on a Lumix S5 with a 28mm 2.8 Canon FD lens
