  • Recent changes in industry standards and practices enable up to 10x location-accuracy improvements. This talk will explain when and how developers can get or create high location-accuracy from Android devices, going over timelines, technology, and API details. This includes outdoor location (based on GPS) and indoor location (based on WiFi). It will also feature a demo where a person navigates around a room using an Android phone with WiFi RTT location.

The most interesting part is from 12:00 to 14:00, where he explains how it works, I wish that could have been expanded by about 30 minutes, I was on both Polaris and Poseidon subs in navigation. I can tell you, you do not want to use Maximum likelihood, you do want to use a Kalman Filter . The different is like night to daylight.

So will Google Pixel 3 have the dual-frequency GPS hardware to utilize L1 + L5?

When will 802.11mc RTT be available on the Google WiFi product (mesh network) ? What other APs do or are roadmapped to support RTT? When will fused location services support indoor positioning via RTT ?

Yo does the FusedLocationProvider stuff include "duel frequency GNSS w/centimeter accuracy" (27:20)
    ?
Does the FusedLocationProvider include the GnssMeasurment APIs (27:42) or is that separate?
I guess what I'm trying to ask is does the FusedLocationProvider allow sub meter accuracy outdoors or I have to do the duel frequency GnssMeasurment stuff described at 27:42?

For post-processing, if you have base/reference station data available - with a somewhat short baseline (< 20 km) - you can easily get 1-2 cm accuracy horizontally by measuring in static mode. The height will depend a lot on the length of the baseline, however, but it can also be as accurate as 2 cm.
In the future, what we need in Android is to be able to control which GNSS we want to prioritize, ourselves. An example: GLONASS (with FDMA) is hopeless in trying to calculate the integer amibiguities, so it should be possible to prioritize e.g. Galileo over GLONASS for this reason (and others). Right now, the RINEX raw data I collect consist mostly of GPS and GLONASS observations, while Galileo and BeiDou are mostly left out. This is a shame as the skyplots from the intervals of data logging reveal many higher-elevation Galileo satellites that aren't being used.

Hey what are you doing to get these measurements? Are you using the GnssMeasurmentAPI stuff described around 27:42??
Any thoughts on the FusedLocationProvider API? Or it is not as accurate as the GnssMeasurmentAPI with base/reference station data as described at 27:42?
      I really need that

      @@ltserge3226 Hi Serge,
I have been using Geo++ RINEX Logger for logging raw GNSS measurements using my Samsung Galaxy S9+ by turning on the setting "Force Full GNSS measurements" in the developer settings. You NEED to turn this on in order to allow the phase to be locked, otherwise the duty cycling causes cycle slips. The phone also must support Android 7.0 or newer in order to allow this.
Note: Since during the start of 2020, phase observations have very incosistently shown up in the resulting RINEX raw data collected using my phone; some times I get some phase observations other times I get none at all. We contacted Geo++ regarding this issue and they suspect a (maybe incorrect) flag is raised during the logging, which stops the phone from aqcuiring the phase measurements.

@@ltserge3226 Happy to help! I also recommend downloading an app that let's you open the ASCII files (like RINEX) on your phone, so you don't have to export the files to your PC before viewing them.

I downloaded the Wifi RTT Locator app from Google Play onto my Samsung Galaxy A13 phone. But after installing, I can't open it because it says my device is not supported. Which devices does the app support? I couldn't find it in the Google Play description of this app.

i want to notice the video is 16:02 ,the special Google WIFI RTT blue color router , 1.) Is it available to buy it? 2.) where do they sell it ? 3.) how much is the cost per one ? i used google wifi router and test with my google pixel 3a xl , i tested with google wifi rtt scan app , it works ,but the accuracy is not accurate within 1 m. just about +- 3 m., i tested in my living room in the apartment ,so when i saw this Video at 16:02 ,i am interested in special google wifi blue color router because it is very accurate , less than 1m. that why i want to buy it, because i want to test measurement as the google conference in the Video at 16:02 , and the next question are , 4.)are there other brand name of wifi rtt router ? 5.)what are the name of each brand name of wifi rtt router ? because normal router without 802.11 mc , can not do it ,6.) will only the phone with android p able to test measuring the distance from RTT ? 7.) does the phone need to have the chip of 802.11 mc embedding to test measuring the distance from RTT 8.) now what are the brand of the phone that can test measuring with RTT , because in my knowledge , the app that is available to test measurement is only wifi rtt scan app , i can download with google pixel 3a xl , that run android p operating system , i think there also is the chip of 802 . 11 mc embedding in the google pixel 3a xl ,but when i used other new phone that run the android p , for example , new samsung galaxy 9 or10,nor the phone that have API more higher than 26, it can not download the wifi rtt scan app, so if someone know the answer ,please let me know my 8 questions

*I just noticed this Video is **39:27** wow, Not got time for this, I have left the Building, as most of the Audience appear to have done after 10 minutes, I use Google® Maps and a dedicated Sat-Nav as back up and find in any **_blind_** spots the 2 work together ok. My Sat-Nav is much quicker to re-route as it does not depend on internet connection.*
