He was manipulating and forcing people to do as he wish. At the same time Shane started to threaten many members of group and the scary part for them was that he was capable of killing any of them from the back. Shane had to be killed for the better good of the group. The good thing he done, was mainly waking Hershel up to reality that walkers (zombies) were not people anymore.
As I’ve seen people say in comments on other videos, if Shane was still around when Negan introduced them all to Lucille then he definitely would’ve got the bat, one of his looks at Negan and Negan would’ve known he had to kill him😆

its crazy how randall actually manage to fool all of us with his act. We could see a glimpse of his kinda sadistic violent nature on ep 10 when he managed to free himself and started cursing that female walker and violently stabbed her multiple times while shane and rick had a fight, and we had pretty much the confirmation of it when shane pretended to be at his side and act like he was going to leave the group with him; he became much more relaxed and started saying strange things like "things there gets crazy sometimes, you gonna love it" showing that he didnt have any remorse regarding his group action at all
@BoobieConnoisseurRick and Daryl are pretty close. Shane was better than Rick. Daryl beat Beta even when heavily outnumbered and out of resources by the time he actually got to fight Beta. I'd say Shane has an extremely solid shot against Beta.

If they both went on a bit longer, there'd probably be a feeling that Shane was probably hoping Dale was right. The hilarity of this scene is that Randall was 100% going to get the group killed. He even told Carl that if he sets him free he will go get his buddies and they'll come "take care" of the group. Shane was the most misunderstood character in the fact that he was right the whole time and it took the protagonist/Rick realising this himself before people realised just how right Shane was.

He takes the boy to the farm only to have a useless discussion whether to kill him or banish him. Either way, the threat was real and Rick pushed Shane to the edge. Shane was right about the barn, and he knew Sophia was already dead.
what REALLY would've been an impactful exit for Dale is if the group voted on killing the Randel guy and Dale said "I'm out." And just left the group to go survive on his own. Yeah killing him off was surprising but what really would've made his exit most memorable, is him saying the group is losing their humanity and ditching them all.
Shane’s way of thinking was far ahead of everyone else’s. He understood it was survival of the fittest while everyone else wanted to keep their humanity intact. It wouldn’t be too long until Rick adopted the same mindset. Shane knew way before anyone else that right/wrong is irrelevant. Survival is all that mattered.
even as enemies this is how you seize in-team shits. Not bullets, not blood, words. Also as soon Dale died, even with Herschel around, the morality of the group died with him.
