Memories of days gone by in Scotland with my ane folk that are no longer with us, ahhh so lovely....Closed my eyes and I was transformed once again. Thank you!
What a group : Jimmy Shand , Jim McLeod, Bobby MacLeod , Ian Powrie , Bill McCue and Jimmy Shand Junior -- certainly I will never see such a group together again and I doubt if anyone will ------- incredible .
I Used to watch the White Heather club every new years eve in black and white when I was a kid in London, my grandad was from the Highlands and my dad had a selection of Jimmy Shand 78s, couldn't help but tap my feet.
Yes, I agree. Music that you can't help but like. Shame there isn't more like this these days. Jimmy Shand was great. It's good to see so many people enjoying it.
Brought up with the white heather club and andy always bringing in the new year in our house. So missed are those great days. TV so dire now we switch off the tv and watch the old Hogmany shows of andy and company bringing in the new year on UTube
I think I'm related to Bill. My Dad always said there was a connection. My Grandpa's mother was called Margaret McCue. We're all good singers and accordion players.
More, please! The Laird o' Auchtermuchty doesn't get nearly enough time on here.......have you got the rest of this broadcast. (Some Bobby MacLeod, Jim Johnstone and Ian McPhail wouldn't go amiss, either!) Magic!
There's another video on UA-cam here of the full session of music that night. Wonderful listening! Love your accordion and playing by the way aidan! Im a big fan of your channel
Hogmanay on BBC just seems to be full of glitz and glamour....not even worth watching. I wish that they could squeeze in something like this, something down to earth.
Much of Scotland seems to be ashamed of it's traditional music, or it may be that many are tone deaf and only respond to tuneless beat and rhythm supposed to be music. Aye, Hogmanay on TV is a disgrace.
Bill McCue making a complete fool of himself. The Master of Scottish Dance Music sits there beside him - Jimmy Shand - The Scottish Dance Music Legend. In World War II the Japanese wondered how they could torture the Scottish P.O.W,s - eventually they came up with this..... they nailed the Scots prisoner's feet to the floor then put on Jimmy Shand records....
Brilliant, brings back memories of my dear mother singing in the kitchen.
My Irish Dad loved this band, so very happy to find this on You Tube, greetings from Australia..
It certainly is hard to beat. So glad there is a recording of it so we can continue to enjoy it, and for new viewers to discover.
They can keep all the rubbish they waste Hogmanay on these days, bring us back some wonderful evenings of real pleasure with people like this!!
I agrée Scottish music is fun as well as entertaining Ness shirley
I couldn't agree more, the Scots have always known how to bring in the New Year!!!
Yes takes me back to the new years eve's parties on Grampian TV !!!! with my Mum and Dad the good old years !!!!
Bill had a rare singing voice. Remember as a boy, he played football for Muirkirk Juniors. Lovely memories and a lovely man.

I'm not Scottish, but I love, love, LOVE this!

I would have loved it even more, had he sung the second verse also.
Great tune................... should be the National Anthem of Scotland

Shand and McCue ... two of Scotland's best.
"three of Scotland's best. - you left Powrie off the list !
Really nice voice, Bill McCue. So many singers are very high-pitched.
This is the best line up of Scottish danc bands you will ever find and i am sure you will never see it again.
never - Hall of Famers all of them !
What a voice. Like others on here I'm taken back to being a young boy with wonderful parents and this on tv or maybe radio around my bedtime.
