Great analysis. Perhaps Beterbiev's balance was off due to the knee surgery he had several months prior. He was limping in the initial fight build up. Warrior's mindset so made zero excuses but it was clear, he wasn't 100%. Nonetheless, Bivol's defense was tight (it had to be). In the rematch I believe Beterbiev (given that he's healthy) will stop Bivol. Just my opinion. Great fight. Chess match. Rematch will give a more decisive victor. Keep up the excellent fight analysis champ. 👊🏽
Great take on the fight, as always Champ. I'm SOOO glad to finally have myself set up on UA-cam and following your site. Boxing misses you, and I'm SO glad to see you are still so active in boxing and doing ALL these fantastic re-caps and videos. I miss the days when you were a live analyst so watching these are an especially fantastic treat for me--- Keep On Rocking !!!
It was beautiful boxing, a contrast of styles. Both fighters wanted to implement his style and negate the other's strengths. Bivol boxed beautifully from the beginning of the fight, with constant movement, holding centre position, landing cleaner shots, being defensive-managing the distance well between them, and not allowing Beterbiev to close the gap and plant his feet to land heavy blows; he knew what he was supposed to do, a true master tactician. And as long as Bivol maintained this, he won the fight. He did this exceptionally well in the first half of the fight, especially in the first three rounds, yet Artur kept pressing forward, slowly closing the gap, even though it was difficult because Bivol is exceptional with distance control; being hit by Bivol when he did to deter him from marching forward, he kept that pressure on him relentlessly, would close the gap and land some heavy shots on Bivol also winning rounds from the first 6. I had it 3-3 after the 6th round. Beterbiev hurt him badly in the 7th and Bivol was winng that round easily. Bivol fought strong in the 8th especially 9th, but took some heavy shots, man, in the exchanges that deterred him from throwing as much as the fight went on. That's why Beterbiev swept the last three rounds with less resistance.
You said it all champ. If bivol was constant with those in-between counters from Beterbiev single jab, he would have stopped Beterbiev or won enough rounds. Those in-between 2-3 were connecting always and would have stopped Beterbiev but bivol wasn't consistent with it and it was so open for him to counter till round 12 but he was hesitant Maybe because of fear of been hit with Beterbiev power
Agreed Champ. it definitely was not the same fighter that night. Bivol absolutely had a HUGE missed opportunity. Maybe Father Time and the knee injury was the cause of Beterbiev’s performance, he is getting on in age and had a lengthy amateur career or maybe just an off night , but that was the night for Bivol to shine.
That was an elite fight between Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol. They could have defeated anyone else in their division on Saturday, especially Bivol--an exceptional performance. Upon rewatching the fight, I agree with the judges that Artur won the Undisputed Light Heavyweight Championship. I initially thought Bivol had won, and I was heartbroken for him that he didn't get the decision, but in the end, the rightful man won. It was 3-3 after the 6th round, with Bivol winning his share of the rounds--the first three rounds clearly. Beterbiev won the 7th, which Bivol initially dominated, by landing a string of heavy, unanswered shots. Artur also closed off strong, winning the 10th, 11th, and 12th rounds. I'll admit Artur wasn't quite himself in the fight--he may have gotten old overnight and underperformed--slow and noticeably exhausted by the 4th or 5th round. His sheer will is what won him the fight. Yes, Bivol was ahead after the 9th--his performance was more eye-catching and precise, he is what you call a Master Boxer. Technically, the bout was a Bivol special, a beautiful display of the art of boxing against the pressure, will and consistency of Beterbiev.
@@powertrioagency5795 Bivol got an extra fight in when Beterbiev was injured so that definitely could’ve contributed to Beterbiev never really finding his zone…

Tbf, Bivol didn't throw long string combinations in this fight. He stuck to three pieces, the one time where he went above 3 punches was when he hurt Beterbiev; the same exchange where Beterbiev timed & hurt him. I enjoyed the fight in my opinion
@@HamzahAlli-z5y One clean flush shot change the whole game but credit to Bivol he was able to avoid what was sure a KO defeat and if he close in the championship rounds we’d be singing 🎵 a new tune… The Rematch tells the real story and I must say maybe Father Time is knocking on Beterbiev’s door… 🚪
Champ, Beterbiev couldn't get clean shots because bevol was always on the move, and blocking. Bevol never stayed still enough for Beterbiev. Beterbiev mistake is he never went to the body to slow Bevol down from moving. Beterbiev head hunted all night for a knock out one hit punch.
@TarversTake Champ, I remember watching your fight with Bernard Hopkins. Boxing has changed since those days when the best fought the best immediately. You all got straight to it. There wasn't all this waiting, ducking and dodging. The best was hungry to fight the best and get him out the way and on to the next. Now it's like waiting 50 years to see the 2 best fight each other. It's crazy. these new boxers are dodging and getting around fighting the next best in their weight class and still making crazy bag. It's nuts.
@@mikelucas3272 it’s possible but I’m also taking in consideration that Father Time is undefeated we gotta take 39 yrs old in to consideration looking at the opportunities lost to close the show… 🥊
beterbiev had a bad knee. he had surgery 4-5 months ago. i dont think he could train right. he was tired after 7 rounds and that has to be because of the injury.
This is why I believe that in a rematch Bivol can win and this time convincingly. Beterbiev is not the same fighter off the back foot. He did not look comfortable and the opportunities were there for Bivol to set traps and lead Beterbiev into a counter that could have put him on the canvas. Bivol even with his somewhat flawed approach has more routes to win than Beterbiev did, he just didn’t utilize them at the right time or at all. I believe he can do better than this in a return match now that he knows what Artur has and in his mind he feels I’m sure, like The monster isn’t such a bogey man anymore. His confidence has to be on an uptick given that he went the distance and could have actually won a decision if he has just took more risks and close the show in the championship rounds.
