I love your video. Thank you! I am one of the Konkow Partners who own the Lake Concow Campground. Your video truly captures the peace and beauty of the campground. It even shows the beautiful drive. It was devastated in the Camp Fire 5 years ago. The "quiet area" was an active Konkow Maidu creekside village and held regular sweats and ceremonies for the tribe and the community. The structures were beautiful. I will post a couple of pictures for you to see what they used to be. One was the round house or ceremonial building which held special events and we enjoyed years of song, dance and stories in them. I sat many times as Grandma Jenny with the littles in there while mom and dad enjoyed a sweat. That is the bigger circle area. The smaller circle area was the sweat lodge. Many prayers were said and shared in there. We are slowly rebuilding.
Thank you so much for the detailed explanation. I just went on the website and saw some tee pees which look like it could be the structures that were destroyed. I do love this campground, the wildlife is everywhere and such peace filling the air. ❤️
@@gr8fullytedicated yes this Sunday. I need to catch up over on your channel since I’m back. Packing for a longer trip now then to an evening dr appointment.
@@AnnettesVanTease I am still in the Q land, but will be heading north east in a few days - its getting too hot here mid day. Happy travels wherever you are headed
@GooseTravels1 you’re actually close. I just got to Joshua Tree, I needed to see it before the heat gets bad. I almost missed it again. It is hot during the day down here. Safe travels to you on your trip north east.
The place across the road is Dot and Dave's and the place next door is her Sisters Peggy and Pete's Both were some of the hand full of places saved from the Campfire since they had the most prepared properties with a lot of defensible space
Thank you for explaining about the neighbors in the area. What a view everyone has, I’m happy to hear they were prepared enough to defend their property against the fire.
The holes were a replica Maidu Native village They lived for thousands of years in the Koncow basin which is the native way of spelling Concow , a lot of things were burnt up in the Campfire Concow was the first to be hit and was hit harder than Paradise
I am so sorry for all of the loss in your area to the fire. It is a beautiful campground. I would love to make this an annual event, I think I might, it is so calm with a nice hike and lots of wildlife.
Always with the gorgeous views and chill/serine content. Another great video and it was awesome to actually catch the end of this premier. I'll try to get here more quickly from now on! Hugs! 🤗
What a peaceful place. Beautiful too. I'm beginning to understand what drives you, and others, to seek out sirene places like this. Joy, relaxation, self reflection. What was the temperature like there? I could spend a day or two there alone, but it would also be fun with a friend. I would guess the large hole in the ground was some sort of ceremonial structure. Maybe American Indian. I would love to know exactly. Good looking grilled cheese sandwich! I've never tried dipping it in the soup. I like tomato soup, but it gets boring fast. I love the drone views! I think I need to watch your first trip there. 😊
It was so peaceful. I think you would enjoy it alone and I know you would love it with a friend. I may make this journey an annual event, before the camping season starts. It gives me the place to myself and helps the campground get customers off season too. Win win. 😊
I thought I came up with it, nope. I have a can I’m going to try that I found over the weekend. It’s definitely a thing. That brand of coconut milk was so good and creamy though, I only had it with the matcha, so good. 🤗
I loved this one!! You are so lucky! If I lived 30 min away I would go hang w/the lake and trees Every Day ~ I would not stay home!! At all. I love hearing the wind in the trees and the birds and animals. Not so much noisy humans. I feel sorry for the animals, vegetation, terrain ~ people don't walk softly. Every step connected and conscious, a kiss to Mother Earth. The tomato soup ~ I guess you weren't raised vegetarian?! LOL But that grilled cheese was fantastically on point, Wow!! I could See the sizzle!😍🤓🙏Thank you for being respectful of the Native village. M/b you will inquire about the walled area by the river? I'm curious about it too. It would be unfair and ignorant of me to speculate about it. Out here, in the Indigenous Pueblos (that are still presently inhabited since pre-Columbian times) there is an underground ceremonial space called a "kiva." It is for sacred ceremony and is restricted. Again, I would never presuppose that the 2 spaces are the same. The Pueblos here have dances at Christmas and New Year's (winter solstice times), and in the summer, feast days, powwow's, etc, that are open to the public. In the past no photography b/c it is sacred ceremony. And you need to know basic cultural manners/pueblo protocol to come correct about it. But the dances that are open to the public, tons of people go. Loved the drone shots! I remember the bear tacos!🐻😯 Or was that bare tacos, w/o the lettuce and tomato?😂And onions!?😳😱💀💀💀😁🤗
This spot was 30 mins from the sound bath spot, the week before. It’s actually about 90 minutes from home and I’m certain very busy during camping season which is coming up next weekend. They still use the Native Village for ceremonies here too. The men were down here in the village and women weren’t allowed. I was looking for them last year and remember joking that maybe with a hoodie on I’d look like a boy and could see them. I wouldn’t have entered if I saw people there. The sign didn’t say do not enter, it said do not use. I contemplated not going in then analyzed the words and figured I could walk through if I don’t disturb anything. I’ll ask about this if I go back next off season. 🤗

Love it, Hi Shawn!
The reason there is no boating or swimming allowed is because the lake is a domestic water supply of Thermalito Irrigation District
Very interesting thanks for explaining. With the lack of people and boats more wildlife seems to be there. So many ducks the times I’ve gone.
so what site did you pick LOL
The premium site with the best view! I may be in Joshua Tree a little later this week. Are you still in the area?
no I am in Galveston Texas on the way to Corpus Christi to do some beach camping on Mustang Island for a week - ever been there?
@BoondockingWithBoomer I just barely missed you I guess. No I’ve never there but an old friend runs a fishing boat near there. Sounds nice, enjoy.
thanks I will where did we miss each other how far east did you come ?
@@BoondockingWithBoomer I went as far as Phoenix then popped up to the Grand Canyon. Going back down near Joshua Tree maybe this week.
Homemade tomato soup when made right is delicious. Campbell's is horrible, and does not in any way represent the real thing.
Thanks I will try this again. I was told I needed milk, not water also. I will see which brand is best when I do try it again.
