- I found this long clip in my files when I was making another comp. Bits of this clip were in another one of my Drawfee comps. I don’t remember why this whole bit was in my files, but I decided to have fun with it.
I also love Phoenix Wright. It messed up my brain.
I think all the kind comments I got on my first Drawfee comp went to my head. And I went wild with my editing of this bit alone.

The Ace Attorney games are great because everyone hears about Miles being gay but just dismisses it as baseless shipping until they actually play the game, and then without fail, they go "wait, he's actually gay?"

COMING FROM AN ARTIST: that photo of Phoenix can’t even be used as reference; the actual sculpture was being made by Maya which Nick wearing a suit and facing forward, unlike in the photo. If anything, the photo would be the worst possible reference to use for the sculpture because you can’t see Nick’s face properly and he’s not wearing a suit. He’s not even in the objection pose lmao
Second point: Miles isn’t even the one sculpting, he’s just melting the chocolate. He has no reason to use a photo of a naked Phoenix.
In conclusion, Miles has no heterosexual reason to keep that photo. Wrightworth is canon /hj

Yeah, as someone who played the first 3 AA games - this is 100% accurate...
Because the text is just Miles feeling uncertain how to take Phoenix's unassuming, genuine love for him, and it's either gay or the healthiest of bromances, or both. Either way, it's beautiful.
Edgeworth is still 100% totes a gay nerd, though. Nothing changes that.

@@ourDreamcatcher She may be exaggerating some, but there is definitely a bond between Phoenix and Edgeworth that goes beyond just a rivalry. She isn't exaggerating at all when she says Phoenix became a lawyer just to see Edgeworth again; and the entirety of the fourth case of the first game is spent with Phoenix trying to look after Edgeworth while defending him of a murder charge. (By the time the third game rolls around, even if they're still considered rivals because of their professions, there straight up isn't any animosity between the two of them at all.)

@@ourDreamcatcher Honestly, I recommend it! It's a lot of fun if you like that sort of game style, the characters have many entertaining and heartwarming qualities to them. You could even get the bundle with The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles if you wanted to, which is also really great if a little long. I would wait until they go on sale, though, since that seems to happen somewhat often.
Looking at the comments I thought I would see someone like me. But instead I saw Drawfee fans who where either a little confused on Ace Attorney, knows about AA, or is now into AA because of this clip (which all make more sense than me). Meanwhile, I’m over here getting this recommended to me for being an AA fan

@@kay_faraday It's a channel where people suggest weird/silly drawing challenges and the hosts (who are very talented artists) try to fulfil them. But like.... really really funny and good. They also do some great narrative series that are like comedy D&D with drawing challenges.

Ace Attorney hits kind of this weird middle ground where it seems like they're trying to specifically not be mean spirited and to make most of the characters sympathetic, but every now and then you have one of those frustrating animesque jokes, when the writing is often so much better than that and you can otherwise overlook all the anime stuff. Like making boob jokes about someone who at the same time might be the most competent person to ever live in the setting. All while somehow not even being particularly horny about it because the main dev was trying to write something his grandmother could play.

A friend of mine once told me how much they knew about Amphibia from the bits and pieces they got from a classmate who was deep in the fandom, the most prominent piece of information was that “there’s a throuple”, and I think that’s about the same as your first introduction to Edgeworth being that he’s gay

Is the trick if you don’t want to read, or you can’t read it, then you can watch a fandom or someone who’s doing let’s play a bit and they usually read it and do really good accents as well and deliver one of my favourite lines. Sorry and they say it in the best way ever.
Elegy of Games on Twitch is a fantastic voice actress, I'm sure they have streams archived of most of the games fully voiced. It's not how I learned about it, but they played a fan translation for the unfortunately still Japan exclusive games way back in the day, it's what compelled me to buy the whole series.

Is it just me or do gay people inevitably end up projecting their headcanons onto characters who have any positive relationship (unless they are opposite sexes)?
It feels like the equivalent of “the curtains are blue which represents his sadness”.
They’re not always wrong, but that’s also inevitable when you throw it out everywhere
Headcannons and interpretations are more nuanced than that. And that’s not what this video is about, but I will speak on this subject for the sake of being kind and understanding that you may not understand this topic.
Just as the equivalent you bring up “the curtains are blue because…”
Anyone who interacts with the media can interpret things in different ways. Those interpretations (especially the example you bring up) are open and often welcome.
It’s problematic to make it about gay people doing it, when everyone does it.
That doesn’t even begin to dip into the cultural context of queerness and how little there is in the media. There is queer media being produced, but that doesn’t amount to the huge percentage of non-LGBTQIA people/characters.
Straight people do the exact thing- Making headcannons of fiction. Because they are headcannons and no characters (in Ace Attorney) have a confirmed sexuality label.
There is no harm in making headcannons.
It’s not limited to something only gay people do and it’s not something you should be worrying about (especially here, where people are having fun).

I think the worst thing about it though is how that one scene is interpreted as "a funny gay joke" *ALL THE TIME*, so people miss that line being a turning point in Edgeworth's character development. This scene comes right after Edgeworth not only loses the trial, but stops himself from winning because he knew Vasquez was guilty - something that goes against his entire legacy and teachings.
He literally clarifies the "unnecessary feelings" the *VERY NEXT SENTENCE* as doubting himself and what he was taught after beliving in it so heavily.
But people constantly miss that because they misinterpret the scene as LOLMAO GAY JOKE? THEY GAY!
I really fucking hate gay people, sometimes. I hate that I count as one of them. Non-gays never ruin that scene for themselves.
Edgeworth is interesting, cause I want to say so bad that he's actually ACE. I mean let's face it, Nuerodivergence and queerness often go hand in hand, it seems impossible for a condition/perspective that changes the way you socialize to not affect romantic interest. It feels like to me that Edgeworth has... Absolutely no aspirations of making friends or lovers, until Phoenix is like "Well we already are frienda fucker" and he's like "damn he literally is right". Not to mention it seems like Fanziska is on some level interested in him (hard to tell if it's a brotherly thing or not) but she actively knows he won't reciprocate. All that being said... Yeah Edgeworth is gay AF.
