Brilliant workaround. As everyone else has noted, every other solution I’ve seen involves messing about turning off Wi-Fi etc…my network has to remain on and I’d begun considering an old microwave to use as a faraday cage haha. I think I was walking the line between genius and madman
Thank you VERY VERY much for sharing your knowledge with us. I almost gave up creating my own Local Account until I saw your video. Beautifully done. Short and sharp video and VERY effective. Can’t thank you enough.
Hi this is helpful for those that are connect via Wifi -But if using ethernet with cable plugin this needs to be un-plug to create a local account as network connection flow fails to show via ethernet connection
Hi Pete. This crossed my mind but have not tried this out yet. Using a LAN ethernet connected computer, you should be able to unplug the cable during setup and when you get to the screen asking for Microsoft Account, click any of the buttons such as "Create One" or "Sign In". It should glitch to the screen asking to add username for local account. As soon have entered a username and continue setup, best to plug the cable back in before setup completes. This will allow driver downloads to initialize.

That's interesting. With Pro & Enterprise versions, I suppose the option has to be there to bypass Microsoft Account as the unit may be used as part of a network. The actual install files in the early releases are probably just the same as W10 for now. Let me know how you get on with further tests. Be interested to find out.

Is there another way? I'm stuck and hit shift+f10 does nothing and I'm still stuck on the connect to wifi screen. Hitting shift+f10 does not bring up task manager. Is there another way?
We've discovered that with machines pre-installed with Windows 11 S Mode, this won't work. You'll have to connect to Wifi then pull the plug on Wifi power when it asks to sign in with Microsoft Account. With no internet, click "Create Account" and it'll default to the local user screen.
Question : is this using the ISO (clean install) ?, or by updating it from the windows 10 update ?......... i just got notified through windows update that my windows 10 home is good to go, for when they send the update to windows 11 free upgrade......
Hi. In this video, it's a clean install from the ISO. If it is an upgrade, and the computer is already signed in to a Microsoft Account, it will continue to use that account. Worth mentioning that rather than waiting for it to download as an update, run a Google search for "windows 11 media creation tool". From here you can download the update from Microsoft, meaning that it will go in at a time that fits best.
Hi maaloufs1. If you have two USB sticks prepared, one with W10 and one with W11, there is a file called Install in the Sources folder in the Windows 10 one that you copy and replace in the W11 one. This will bypass the check. However we don't know what will happen when the first feature update is released for W11. This could cause future problems. For that reason I'm not keen on making a help video that may cause problems rather than fix them. All best.
so the problem is now that if you put in a wifi connection that connection is hardcoded into the setup. HOW do i get rid of that so i can continue without internet and be forced not to use a Microsft account to finish the setup??
Worked for me this morning. Doesn't work with Windows S Mode though. If machine is pre-loaded with Windows S Mode it doesn't allow anything to run. Is the computer brand new or are you upgrading? We are starting to see S-Mode coming in as standard on mid-range laptops rather than just the cheaper end as before.
As of tonight, that option is NOT working, at least not on my installation. Install completed, I used a USB drive to install it. I hope I don't have to install 10, and then do an upgrade install. CORRECTION: I had to hold FN, SHIFT, F10. If it's not working for you, DO FUNCTION SHIFT F10!
Hi John. If your system is wireless, Network Connection will be there. If your system is hard wired to the internet, just pull the LAN cable at that screen.
Hi. It may be that you are running Windows 11 S Mode, in which case certain features may not work. You may have to unplug your Wifi for 5 minutes to complete setup without Microsoft Account.
@@Computroon It is the initial pre installed setup on a brand new laptop, not sure what version but know it is win11. I found and even easier way. Connect to your WiFi network, and when it asks for the Microsoft Account, just turn off the wifi modem. It will skip the Microsoft account and ask for a local account
This is the only video, I think that shows without tinkering with hardware. Thank So Much.
