For being a first year head coach of a team losing as much talent as we did after winning the natty, I think Sherrone had a perfect first season. Hear me out, the beginning was rough for sure, but it showed how good Sherrone can be under pressure, showed he has an ability to make the right corrections, and he proved he can win with one of the worst power 5 offenses we’ve seen in a long time. He’s also shown a knack for winning big/important games and that’s my favorite thing about the man. The bad beginning to the season led to our NIL not only catching up but doing laps around many other big players in the NIL game. Life long Michigan fan here. It was a good year, took a while to find their way but ended strong. Great momentum, high level recruiting class, good portal moves (would like to have nabbed a better QB with experience in the portal to groom Underwood but we got what we got). Would like to have seen more consistency throughout the year but let's put it into perspective. We lost all 5 OL starters, it takes time for an OL to gel and know each other and without a starter on the field this year I knew it was going to be tough. QB loss doesn't need mentioned, it has been a tough spot all year as I never liked Orji and Warren and Tuttle were lacking at best. Defensive losses were just as bad however Michigan's next man up mentality turned to be for real, especially as they all started to gel at the end of the year. 13 total players drafted after the 2023 natty, going to be another handful this year with 4 projected first round. A lot to look forward to but let's see how well Sherrone is at developing talent, let's not forget Michigan beat Alabama with a lot of missing pieces who opted out including those 4 first round draft prospects.
Many people think Michigan should be going for 5 stars and the #1 transfer portal players every year but this is 10x harder for Michigan compared to any team in the FBS NCAA. Michigan is not only one fo the best athletic schools, they hold the smartest school, with the average Michigan student having a GPA of 3.9+ and an ACT score of 32-35. This is extremely hard to get, considering these athletes are handling school and football, likely track and other sports on the side. Imagine having to handle getting a 4.4 GPA and a high ACT score while juggling school the way it is, along with attending 3 hour practices every day. Our transfer rank could near #1 in the country but 3 wide recievers, coming from Clemson and BYU, attempted the transfer but were not able to due to their credits. They would have made Michigan one of the best offenses but could not help due to being at low level schools (Clemson only) and handling football at a top tier program while having to take classes.
Michigan clearly waves low GPAs. Guarantee the new QB they paid 12 mil for couldn't even make it into a sec school solely based on grades. Nil is unfair and ridiculous considering people who bust ass just to get a foot in the door in these schools for a degree. Universities should pay everyone, not just the ones who can run fast and jump high.
Where are you seeing that the average gpa is 4.4+, I’ve seen that it’s more like a 3.9, so still impressive but not a 4.4. Also while I’m sure athletes need to maintain a solid gpa I doubt they have to meet the same level as the average student.
Michigan Fan here, it ended with me laughing two games in a row at the expense of the Big Boys this year, so yes it was successful. A really weird year as you said. Having won the National Championship last year, the disappointment early on was somewhat muted, and knowing we did not have a stud at quarterback gave us the reason, but to end it that way was such an immense rush, almost nirvana, and we are powerfully moving into the future. Love it! You want to turn a season around, beat OSU and Bama in your last two games. Crazy.
I think instead of saying "Players who *FAKE* injuries must sit out", I feel it should be all players who get injured and must temporarily pause the football game at any moment, they should sit out *AT LEAST* the rest of the drive. Not only does it solve faking injuries, it also solves players being to dedicated to the team and risking further injury, possibly ending their collegate athletic career for a single game to possibly win.

Regardless, the program is heading in the right direction. Sherrone Moore will be the best Michigan coach in the stories history of Michigan football. He can recruit and develop. Harbaugh knew he was the catalyst to turning the program around. Next season will be the start of a dominant run for the Maize and Blue.
Matt, as to the fake injury, limit the sit out rule for the last two minutes of the first half and second half. If you’re injured in the 3rd quarter, take as much time as you need. If you’re injured with 60 seconds left in the half or the game, you sit out for the drive.

If everybody was following the SAME rules, you'd be right. But there's a REASON the SEC was dominant. Do you really believe it was the scenic wonder that brought recruits to Tuscaloosa? Get serious. And the NCAA was worthless when it came to investigating the pay-for play scheme the SEC had become so adept at. Do you really think the parity between conferences that's happened over the last several years is just a coincidence? Didn't Arizona State give an SEC power all they could handle? All that NIL and the transfer portal have done is level the playing field. For awhile.
I'm a Michigan fan. Every fan would be happier with more wins in 2024. But -- the end of the season was so fantastic in terms of wins, strength of the defense, and recruiting that fans are very optimistic about 2025.
God, I love your show Matt! Always a big grin- yeah buddy! Best 8-5 season ever! All the trophies intact- beat in-state little bro, beat OSU (4th season in a row), beat Bama twice in one year. Only thing better would be a Natty, wait we got one of those last season, more to follow! Go Blue! 〽️🏈 🔥🏆🔥
Michigan has changed their entire recruiting program. Harbaugh would never ok $ to a HS kid, which is why they had hardly any 5* recruits. If the kid mentioned $, he was off their board. He compensated performance which is why all those seniors came back in 23. Harbaugh also didn't want to market to the alumni base for big fund raising. Moore is full steam ahead and is very good with fund raising and recruiting. They feel there is no limit to what their collective can raise. It's a very large and wealthy alumni base with nearly 30 billionaires. Great content
We knew we were all in for 2023 and would lose a lot to the NFL after, so this season was expected, but while we lost some we shouldn't, we pulled it together in the end and that is promising. Love the video. Go Blue!
I know this is weird for alot of younger fans like Matt, but back during the Carr era Michigan almost always out recruited OSU and would routinely bring in top 10 and sometimes even top 5 ranked recruiting classes - and anyone old enough to remember those teams can tell ya - they were stacked. Unfortunately during his later portion of his tenure at Michigan the consistently underachieved. Because the fact is, whether it was the 03 team with Navarre, Braylon, Avant, Breaston, Massaquoi, Chris Perry, Pierre Woods, Lawrence Reid, Marlon Jackson, and Ernest Shazor, or the 06 and 07 teams with Henne, Hart, Breaston again, Branch, Woodley, Leon Hall, Mundy, Arrington, Manningham, Matthews, and Shawn Crable - if either of them played last year's championship winning team... they'd prolly dominate. The talent on those teams blows away the level of talent that Harbaugh brought in. Which is why, as i said before, it was depressing to watch those stacked teams underachieve the way they did. A perfect example of what those teams were capable of was Carr's last game, the bowl game against Heisman winning Tebow lead Gators, where they completely shut Tebow down with Crable zeroing in on him, Henne threw for well of 375 yards and 3 TD's, and Hart added 129 rushing yards and 2 TD's. Though the score was 41-35 - it wasn't nearly as close as the score would indicate. Hart had two lost fumbles right at the goal line, (the only two he had all year), and Henne threw 2 picks, so in spite of the final score - the game was much more lopsided in reality. I dont wanna make it out like those teams were all bad, they still ended with pretty damn records and were in contention for natty's, so they were far from failures or anything. But with the level of talent they had on both sides of the ball back then, for them to lose to teams that they definitely better than at least once or twice during those years was unacceptable. It legit is a real travesty that they didn't win at least one national championship during the early to mid 2000's. And sadly - it was this very reason that Carr was forced to retire. So next years haul isn't that unheard of in Ann Arbor, it's just something we haven't seen in more than a decade and a half.
Great breakdown. It makes me laugh to think of frumpy Lloyd Carr being a lights-out closer on the living room couch, but clearly he was. I’m not quite old enough to remember but iirc, Gary Moeller was able to get the Jimmys + Joes AND understood X’s and O’s. Absurd he got run out of town for “tarnishing” the schools rep.
@@JimFG So true. I never understood it either. I mean Carr seemed like a nice guy, but he always had that grandpa after thanksgiving dinner energy lol. He was def a good coach, but Moeller was responsible for that championship team Carr ended up winning with in 97, they were all Moeller recruits. It was kinda stupid the way they ran him off. If only they knew in a decade we'd have to endure Rich-Rod and Brady Hoke lol. I mean hell, a kid literally died during one of Rich-Rod's summer training camps at Michigan before the season, that's a wee bit worse than what Moeller did
As a Michigan fan, I was really high on us this season. All we needed was one player to exceed expectations (our quarterback). Only thing you can do you move on an look to the future. The most important thing is Sherrone Moore can win big games.
Bro, Michigan's last season will be remembered as the greatest 8-5 season in college football history. We beat big programs like Ohio State and Alabama, and won against Michigan State. Losing to the right teams was crucial, too. If we had won against Washington, Indiana, and Illinois, the donors might not have pushed for Bryce Underwood and more recruits. While I’m not saying the Wolverines will win the National Title next year, they'll definitely be in the conversation. Go Blue!
I like the rule because players wont be incentivized to fake it and if they are able to play the next play then they are obviously able to walk off the field without stopping the clock.
Love the videos, Matt! But I have a challenge for you who ever you pick for the osu vs texas game next year if they win you don't get the punishment but if you lose you will have to put on auburn gear every wear you go for the rest of 2025 and the iron bowl youll be at the game with an aburn jersey on!
Blue fan here.. coming off a natty, losing a lot of our offensive weapons, and beating osu and bama was BEST case scenario...Getting Bryce Underwood and a top-10 recruiting class is the cherry on top. We have a better trajectory in the b1g and 99% of major players. buckle in buckeye fans..
Michigan fan present. It was an acceptable year coming off of an amazing 3 year run. It was difficult losing bad to Texas and Oregon but beating little brothers MSU and OSU was satisfying. It was a big surprise to beat Alabama because Michigan was without their best NFL bound players and played a backup QB. The most important accomplishment was believing Michigan has a good new head coach, which they have to believe that now after the way they beat great teams with average overall talent. I hope Alabama gets back into the playoffs next season because the playoffs weren't the same without them.
A loophole to that rule would be just have a backup go in there for a play then fake an injury to get a timeout. There. No need to waste a timeout to reinstate him in the game since he’s a backup
The main thing I’m concerned about being a Michigan fan going into next year is that the falcons are interviewing our d coordinator for head coach and he started out pretty mid but the end of the season he was incredible so that’s kinda scary
Crazy that's all you expect from a program as old as michigan is. Osu fans hold their team more accountable if the buckeyes lost every game except for michigan it wouldn't be enough. Fighting for a title EVERY YEAR!
@@codycruit4614 For a season where we lost 18 stars to the NFL, our coaching staff, and were without a QB this season turned about amazing. We just won the natty last year
They still gotta go out there and play as a team vs everyone not just Ohio State. Keep up the content and I hope we see the same amount of coverage if they fail/fall short. 🤷🏾♂️
1:32 good year. I already knew this season we’d probably have like 3 losses or so but between signing bryce, beating all our rivals and dropping wittle jalen midroe again I’d give this year a 7.5/10
As another Michigan fan, I can give this season a passing grade, BUT, seeing Little Bro State and Little Bro Dame in the National Championship game hurts a little bit
Once sherome Moore got his footing, we were almost unstoppable, and that was without a qb, now we are gonna have an elite one, and we will be ready from the start, Michigan will be back next year
Ehh if wink leaves the defense will struggle a little . Don’t have high expectations for Bryce in his first year . His sophomore year and on Michigan will be in the running every year
Michigan grad... fair assessment of Michigan and you're 1000% right about OSU fans.. I talk to people from all fanbases (Bama, UGA, FL, FSU, ND, MSU, OSU, etc) and OSU fans are by far the nuttiest... 🤣
They are paying the qb $12Mil??? Nooo way. Omg!! The NCAA really needs to get some rules & guidelines on the NIL & Portal, like today!! That is just crazy paying a kid that kind of money!! Good grief!! ROLL TIDE!! ALWAYS!!
To be fair Michigan spent 14mil for this past seasons roster. Its not like they have been cheap or homegrown. They spend just like the other big time schools. People just dont do their research.
@mattbegreat I didn’t know you were so young, (I’m 41) your doing a great job I watch most of your videos but would like to hear you talk about LSU’s Transfer portal. Looks like a #1 class.
I think when a player goes out for an injury to stop the clock they should pass a rule he can't go back in the lineup until cleared either by a physican assigned to the game not from either team but the NCAA and must go to the team locker room for that procedure .
We got a taste of a natty and we aren’t going back to mediocrity. Michigan is rich with history and money. WE ARE THE NEXT COLLEGE FOOTBALL DYNASTY. Nobody’s got it better than us
Johntay cook is a locker room nightmare rn but lowkey tell me him on penn state would not be crazy. If the coaches can get him back to himself he will be dangerous on a good team.
Born and raised in Ann arbor. But to be honest with you Matt, the only reason we did this good this year is because we have a lot of players that played under harbaugh. I really hope we do even this good this coming year. But I think you're going to see as years go by. We're going to be sliding by the wayside until somebody decides to change out a few key positions not held by students. I love your commentary. Keep it up. You're honest and that's really hard to find from someone your age.
Hey Matt. A quick point. You admit that Michigan won the National Championship, but then say that they did it while "only" having "two dudes." For the last number of years, Michigan has not played the NIL game, the "let's get 5 stars" game, the stupidly talented "super star of the future" game. But they have been outstanding at development, probably the best program in the country for that. Cryin' Ryan has *tried* that at Lil Bro State, but it obviously hasn't worked there. In a development organization, it's about "The Team." Michigan has always been about "The Team." Big Blue won't always win National Championships, but they will always be about "The Team."

they may be snagging a 5 star Ty Haywood soon bumping that class to top5. taking from bama no less. double W. respect Matt. put little bro in the corner
The rule is perfect! How do we know if the player is injured? HES TELLING US HE IS. An actual injury he’s out for the drive. If not he stays on the field. Great solution
It all comes down to how well they're developed once they get there. That's why harbaugh had such a success development and fundamentals he made. The players want to do better and that's what I don't think more can do. I think the players will tend to slack off, although even just a little it will cause problems
What about players that get the wind knocked out of them? That is debilitating for a couple minutes, requiring stoppage, but very quick to recover from.
and also this season was great, it seems like we were the only people to notice we lost 12 starters, having Davis Warren at qb, who holds a position in my heart, but is not a great football players. We seemed to only notice we could play good after we got Bryce Underwood. Alabama had almost all their starters out, including 2 wide recievers who entered the transfer portal for bama, who still played for bama.
@@MUsICIsCOOLyo It still seems like some times hes like "THE Ohio State University, they will wint he national championship and are dominating the cfb world, the best team" then next hes like "Lil bro state university who is going to win the natty but is owned by michigan"

Top 5 richest man in the world Larry Ellison included thanks to his wife. xD 200 billion net worth
We knew we were all in for 2023 and would lose a lot to the NFL after, so this season was expected, but while we lost some we shouldn't, we pulled it together in the end and that is promising.
Love the video.
Go Blue!
Actually I find Matt’s content pretty hilarious 😂
I mean hell, a kid literally died during one of Rich-Rod's summer training camps at Michigan before the season, that's a wee bit worse than what Moeller did
Thx for the vid Matt ❤

I’m a Michigan fan and it was a rebuilding year but also we got lots of our goals done for this season
〽️〽️
I’m extremely happy about the season. Proved the program is In capable hands can’t wait for next year GO BLUE!
It’s always a great day to be a Michigan fan
TTUN paying them big bucks 💰👀
Get yo money up broke boy
@DEEZ_CLANGaming i would but I'm hooked on your mother's OF content
Says a fan of the team with the $20 million offense but couldn't beat a no QB Michigan team. 😂😂
@@estil333333sure but you paid half that for a single player. That’s crazzzzzzy
Didn’t yall spend $10 mil for a single player? Crazzzzy work better make sure Portnoy or whoever gets his moneys worth
It's pretty clear that the philosophy of OSU has been altered.
A loophole to that rule would be just have a backup go in there for a play then fake an injury to get a timeout. There. No need to waste a timeout to reinstate him in the game since he’s a backup
as a michigan fan up until the osu and bama game i was pissed tf off that they didnt go get a qb out of he portal but im excited for next year ofc
The main thing I’m concerned about being a Michigan fan going into next year is that the falcons are interviewing our d coordinator for head coach and he started out pretty mid but the end of the season he was incredible so that’s kinda scary
For me, this was a good season. Beating lil bro state automatically makes it a good season. Anything more than that is extra
Yep
Crazy that's all you expect from a program as old as michigan is. Osu fans hold their team more accountable if the buckeyes lost every game except for michigan it wouldn't be enough. Fighting for a title EVERY YEAR!
@@codycruit4614shut up u lost to us 😂
@@codycruit4614 For a season where we lost 18 stars to the NFL, our coaching staff, and were without a QB this season turned about amazing. We just won the natty last year
@@codycruit4614spot on Cody. They are a mid tier program and the way they act proves it.
His sophomore year and on Michigan will be in the running every year
Super year - beat Sparty, Lil Bro state, and Alabama. Go blue and love your program.
Shout out to my favorite team, Arkansas, for being in the thumbnail.
They are, by far, the absolute most obsessed fan base in ALL of sports. 98% of them are just off their rockers.
I'm not sold. All those dudes for Michigan will be their greatest downfall because everyone wants to play NOW!!!
Keep the grind at the mgb sweat shop congrats on 355k Matt
@mattbegreat I didn’t know you were so young, (I’m 41) your doing a great job I watch most of your videos but would like to hear you talk about LSU’s Transfer portal. Looks like a #1 class.
Michigan fan, season was definitely a let down from what we expected, but we aren’t the least bit worried about anyone, let alone osu.
Best 8-5 season we've ever had
Man 7:08 had me lmao 🤣 〽️
GO BLUE! Happy how it ended buuuut it was an ok season.
I think when a player goes out for an injury to stop the clock they should pass a rule he can't go back in the lineup until cleared either by a physican assigned to the game not from either team but the NCAA and must go to the team locker room for that procedure .
When OSU had their winning streak v M, we just tried to get better. Eventually, we did. But there wasn't this "hey, you didn't win the game" bs.
If it’s just the drive, I am for it.
That fake injury rule is real good
We got a taste of a natty and we aren’t going back to mediocrity.

Michigan fans 🤝 Matt
love you matt ♥
Born and raised in Ann arbor. But to be honest with you Matt, the only reason we did this good this year is because we have a lot of players that played under harbaugh. I really hope we do even this good this coming year. But I think you're going to see as years go by. We're going to be sliding by the wayside until somebody decides to change out a few key positions not held by students.
I love your commentary. Keep it up. You're honest and that's really hard to find from someone your age.
Matt that Oregon game is deceiving. We were in it up until the end.
Marv how the Wife and Kids. And just wait that Sun Bowl for Bama is gonna be great.
Hey Matt. A quick point. You admit that Michigan won the National Championship, but then say that they did it while "only" having "two dudes."
For the last number of years, Michigan has not played the NIL game, the "let's get 5 stars" game, the stupidly talented "super star of the future" game.
Some people win national championships. Some people win national championships with asterisks.
I encourage any Buckeye fan to not watch or subscribe to this channel from here on out! MattBeGay only talks about The Buckeyes to get views but his season is coming to an end. This guy cries so much about Whama but wants to talk about Buckeye fans is absolutely ludicrous! Another thing he keeps calling everybody nerd dude have you looked in the mirror lately or watched any of your videos seriously you call other people nerds I don't get it! I can say this Whama isn't winning a championship anytime soon Nick is gone so Matt you and your other cry babies are going to keep talking in past tense because your not winning a national title anytime soon!!!!!!!
they may be snagging a 5 star Ty Haywood soon bumping that class to top5. taking from bama no less. double W. respect Matt. put little bro in the corner
The reason they got so many bad apples is because they have the largest fan base
MattCantChooseASideWhenTalkingAboutLilBroStateAndUM, it was great to watch this video.
and also this season was great, it seems like we were the only people to notice we lost 12 starters, having Davis Warren at qb, who holds a position in my heart, but is not a great football players. We seemed to only notice we could play good after we got Bryce Underwood. Alabama had almost all their starters out, including 2 wide recievers who entered the transfer portal for bama, who still played for bama.
He has he has ohio st rent free in his head he hates them 😂
@@MUsICIsCOOLyo It still seems like some times hes like "THE Ohio State University, they will wint he national championship and are dominating the cfb world, the best team" then next hes like "Lil bro state university who is going to win the natty but is owned by michigan"
Great ending to a disappointing season. It's a nice alternative to an overhyped season that ends with disappointment, which is exactly what we were used to before we started beating Lil bro state again.
Good Year to beat Lil Bro Bro and Al! The rest of the season didn't matter bc a lot of us knew it wasn't going to be a good season, bc of all MI lost from the previous season!
Matt cooked with this video
Simp harder
We were a different team at the end of the season. We should've been in the playoffs.
Ok year ended great Go Blue!
I’d call it a rebuilding year, with a hopeful end.
They can do replay and clearly see when the kid just falls down because he’s told to and lawsuit . They’d have to prove they were actually injured from said play . Good luck with that

If they are that hurt to stop play should stay out for awhile for safety, they do it for concussion. They won't fake it if they aren't hurt.
The thing with Michigan why they couldn’t get these top classes was the coach like with Moore let’s be fr where is this guy goanna go
