  • I'm a carpenter in the middle of fifties. Woodworking is far from my major job. I may stand somewhere between hobby carpenter and expert. So my skill hasn't matured fully and I make many mistakes in the videos. I hope you would forgive me generously.
    A late bloomer carpenter's woodworking diary. This is the motto of my channel. I enjoy making furniture and videos. And using my leisure time I make videos and share how I make and my idea that comes to my mind. Those are sometimes childish and sometimes not too bad. What I want is you just enjoy watching one or two of my videos and fly to other channels better than mine.
    I'd like to progress my woodworking skills through struggle to make furniture and videos. And I hope those can help you encouraged for woodworking.
    Thanks for reading

    the author does like to from scratch, shaping and trimming wood from large blocks into fine finished products. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxD-QRFQz730FJEh4f9BYSf-nkIMIC9hL_ as another reviewer mentioned, most projects require a lot of high-dollar equipment that most of us dont have the room or budget for. But, knowing how to do these things, even if we wont be able to practice the full stack project, is still great.

    Ohhh I like this joint locking method !
    For locking such assembly I would usually use a wedge going through the entire assembly, plunging through the foot and being locked down there by another wedge, as it locks the assembly in every directions, but your method definitely looks much more elegant !
    I'll try to see if I can do one alike locking every directions :)
    Thanks a lot for the vid !

    Всё предельно ясно. Перекрёстное соединение деталей вполдерева на расклинивание. Отличная идея! Главное,соблюсти точность соединений врасклин,чтобы деталь не треснула,то есть не лопнула при соединении. Этот приём соединения впечатляет многогранностью.

      I suspect that the same technique would work for table legs. Where you might encounter a problem would be if you were doing it for the posts on a backyard arbor. When the boards start getting to that point, it might be time to break out the hand saw and chisel... :)
      You maybe could start out by making the posts out of three 2x6s that were cut down so that they were 3 times the thickness that you had planed them to... The could be sandwiched together if you cut the center one shorter and it would look the same as if you had cut the slot in the end of the post. The cross slot would need to be cut by hand though, but it could be done before the entire post was glued up. Whether it is worth going to this trouble for the posts on an arbor is an entirely different question though. :) I could see this joint being used for a table, but not for anything longer than *maybe* 48". For table / workbench legs, you're probably looking at 36" max in most cases though. Maybe up to 6 ft long if you were wanting to use it for the top of a canopy bed or for the bed platform of a loft bed.

      @AegirWatches 4 роки тому

      works fine. I did a similar joint on a bed, perfect, and no metal needed. I used loose mortise and tenon ( have a domino ) for the side rails that are the mattress slats support. The great thing about it is, it is basically forever, as not screws or bolts needed, so when you take it apart and move it several times, it is fine, exactly the same as it was the first time you assembled it.

      jdilksjr - I think they are decorative. They don’t seem to add any strength. The half lap joints aren’t going to pull through, so these pieces don’t seem to add any functionality.

    This is a nice approach, but the vertical table saw sled seems a little spooky to me... if that board kicked back, I think it would instantly overwhelm the clamp, the beam would slam down onto the blade, and then who knows what would happen. I don't think your hand could pass over the saw, but you'd just have a lot of wood moving backward with a lot of angry forces.

      A table saw will save you time, but, very often, you don't need it. In fact, most joinery work used to be done only with chisel and hammer. After making couple of it, it's possible to do it better than a table saw.
