One Andy equals two small girls. So, it's an equal relationship.
Ron giving Lauren the claymore is strangely sweet. You can tell it was - from Ron's perspective - a gesture of mutual respect.

"Well said!"
my social studies class recently did a lesson on libertarianism. my extensive knowledge of the many sentiments of ron swanson helped a great deal.
@Armchair Psycho I mean, keep in mind, at a Libertarian party debate during the 2016 election, people booed Gary Johnson because he supported driver's licenses existing.
Driver's licenses.
It's kind of hard to be much more absurd than being against needing people to know how to do something before doing it.
@@xxxdumbwordstupidnumberxxx4844 most libertarians just want small government not the break down of law and order so libertarianism is pretty exaggerated and misrepresented
@@ronanodonnell7145 Yes, but most politicians who describe themselves as Libertarians are Republicans, mostly because Reagan. The issue is, all that really happened under Reagan was that the budget was altered so that taxes went towards different departments, and that's pretty much what all libertarian Republicans have actually managed to do in regards to shrinking the government. And even then, Republicans haven't always been consistent about their small government and states rights ethos (see Washington D.C., as Jason Chaffetz tried to argue that D.C requiring congressional approval to do literally anything fits within the Republican ethos of states rights).
@@xxxdumbwordstupidnumberxxx4844 so i think we agree that the basis of libertarianism is the desire for small government
@@ronanodonnell7145 Yeah, I'm not disputing that. Most politicians who call themselves Libertarian, however, usually fail in that regard.

Sadly the days of being able to say that you built this property and maintain it, catch/hunt/grow your own food, and no one bothers me so leave me alone, are gone.
If I was abe Lincoln I woulda stayed at the cabin, than try to go become president, I never understood why we escaped British royalty, only to become exactly like it
There's vast swaths of land/wilderness all around south and north America to live more naturally in/cooperating communites but instead we hyper focus on populating in increasingly dense cities, because electricity and massive but few farms to try and feed all like even the flowers shops in all the different supermarkets across the country imported and fish farms and oil/gas etc. even maybe things like pistachios from the middle east, not to mention other Asian countries forced to sacrifice pollution and things for all the factories making things It's crazy
But as trump said: america first. But why? Why must the whole worlds leaders agree to this?
And all the other massive amounts of fruits/vegetables we get that simply go to waste, piles upon piles of unpurchased bananas, mangos, plantains, odd vegetables etc. even deli meats and other things/sandwiches/chicken/salads that end up going on sale and even still don't get purchased
Meanwhile the one homeless bum eats like a king the night it all gets thrown out

@no, as a matter of fact Great comment mate. And I'm as pro-American as foreigners get. But they've got a problem; their right wingers are soooo right wing. And that makes the left that much more insufferable. I laugh at him, but I really appreciate a character like Ron. We all laugh at him, yet we also develop quite an affection for him. There's an element of that that's missing. It's in every country, that left/right divide. But nowhere is it more toxic than the U.S.
The hard-right like to boast that if it came to civil war, they'd win-as they have all the guns. But Nato would intervene, probably NZ [where I come from] and Australia too. And they would join the Dems and the US military. I think having more characters like Ron, is a way the entertainment media can at least do something. His libertarian ideas are goofy, but you do like the man and having him around.

I love how the writers made Ron to mock libertarians, but he ended up becoming an Icon for libertarians and non libertarians too. Yeah he says some crazy stuff, but, it's a comedy show, people can take a joke, but he also says some pretty reasonable stuff.
I love that Diane called in and talked to Ron before they knew each other. Then the government didn't fix her problem. And then Ron's hatred for the government made him want to fix it for her to prove a point. Then they end up together.
It's funny how Swanson is meant to be making fun of limited government types, and he became something of a mascot for anti government types instead.
While I don't agree with everything Swanson believes, I do agree that government has gotten too big and needs to be dissolved and replaced with a smaller government that the People can keep in check

I find it odd that a man like Ron, who was obsessed with collecting every picture of himself to stay off the grid at one point, would agree to take part in whatever documentary this show was supposed to be.

Anyone here like jokes? Well... Here's a joke: ''The government in this town is excellent, and uses your tax dollars efficiently.'' I find it hilarious.
Ron Swanson, a character created to parody libertarian conservatism but wound up being the most sensible and all around best character on this show
That’s because we conservatives are way cooler than we’re made out to be, the media is constantly bashing conservatives/republicans, but in reality we’re all basically milder versions of Ron
@@joelkosinski5094 Conservatives are evil because we believe that people should be free to keep more of their money rather than funnel it to thousands of over inflated, over budget, behind schedule "public benefit" projects that don't end up living up to promises. John Stossel has some great videos highlighting some of these things.
In my hometown the local government bought a couple miles of land with the intent to build a road. The land was purchased and the initial work was done in 1977, when I moved away in 2014 the road had had no work done to it in the 7 years I had lived there, shortly after the township decided to sell the land to a couple of housing developers who additionally bought the adjacent fields from local farmers. By the end of 2017 there were 3 new housing developments and the 4 mile stretch of road that had started in 1977 was completely finished, and that's what happens when you let greedy businesses run projects, they get done quickly so they can make money, and that to me is beautiful.
@@nunyabusiness4904 it really is, capitalism is the “tough love” of economic systems, you don’t work you don’t eat. And believe me, everyone wants to eat.
Just because he's Libertarian, doesn't mean Ron was conservative. Considering his views on race, gender, and sexuality, Ron struck me as a left-wing Libertarian, but it's kind of clear he was meant Libertarianism as a whole. Just as Leslie Knope represented the ideal government worker in general despite being seemingly a democrat. The first priority of the show was clearly the characters and the jokes, which is why it resonates with everyone and not just one big political message. 🙂
... Also, as much as I love Ron, he was hardly the most sensible one and was frequently the most zaniest in his own way. (The clips we're watching here are supposed to depict Ron as an out of touch crazy person, for example.) Anne Perkins was the most sensible/sane person, but they all took a turn holding the sanity ball. Even Andy.
