- Who's getting tired of winter??? Hands up all around I bet!! I created this adorable little Gnome becuase I love Gnomes of course and I was feeling the winter blues. The thought of this bright, warm and cheerful gnome immediately lifted my spirits and brought back memories of the warmer days of spring and summer! It looks complicated to make, but it's really quite easy peasy!

New sub!! Such an adorable gnome! Thx!! 🤩
Thank you so much!!!☺️
Help please. My first attempt looks fine but cracked a lot overnight. I repaired it this am but as it continues to dry it continues to crack. How thick of a layer of clay is best. I have mine only about an 8th of an inch thick and it's possibly way too thin. Suggestions? Ideas? Garbage and start again?
I have the exact same issue! I found that if I cover the cone with plastic wrap first and make sure the wrap is fairly wet before I put the clay on; after I get the structure of the gnome formed, I slide it off the cone structure and let it dry. I have had no cracking since I have removed the cones.
What is purpose of Gesso? Can something else be used in place of Gesso?
Hi Karen, Gesso acts as a primer. I used it on the cone so that the clay would have something to stick to. Generally though it acts to seal and/or prime your surface, it can give you texture on your surface as well. For the gnome you could use a few layers white acrylic paint instead.
