I have never seen a more ravishing opera singer than Renée Fleming. Not to forget her absolutely graceful singing elegance with her incredibly soft voice. Adorable!

This is so utterly beautiful, it literally brought tears to my eyes. I saw Hampson as Mandryka in the Chatelet ARABELLA - I went to Paris specially - and I am glad to have had the chance to see this as well. The role of Mandryka could have been written for Hampson - and he's so handsome!!!
Indeed the talent is there of course it’s that the sound has defects that are technically patched over. With Rysanek her pitch was terrible and her vocal placement slightly not centered. With Fleming it is a highly lyrical voice that is prone to weird mannerisms and good tensions that all the voice to flex everywhere. This flexing disguises the fact that her middle voice is very weak and small for this repertoire… and that the tone is rather pale and silvery all the time except at the bottom. In short her monochromatic sound has been enhanced and technically smoothed out to be perhaps a lot more interesting than it actually is. This is very apparent live. She has mastered many vocal tricks and that in its self is artistic and gloriously entertaining. It would had been nice if the voice was bigger.
Who was the director? I don't understand what was he doing. Even in this small excerpt, the director ignored every stage directions Hofmannsthal wrote and substituted them with unintelligible and off-beat ones (which don't make sense theatrical and musical wise).
It says in the text: "No one should drink out of this glass again. I'm yours forever" and by throwing the glass to the ground literally no one will ever drink out of the glas again... In my opinion this kind of "slapstick" humor thins out the kitschy and very low quality of the text 😅
Fleming vorbildhaft in ihrer Stimmführung.
I absolutely can't stand 'Arabella', good pretty music but horrible characters and story. Having said that, Lisa Della Casa is the best Arabella on record, Renee's singing is way too mannered and jazzy for my taste, it gets worse the older she gets.
@Franco Red you are obviously another one of the great voice experts here who spread their sad and bitter comments without achieving anything in their own lives. Chapeau!
Arabella certainly has some extremely boring sections, but it also has some of the most glorious music Richard Strauss ever wrote including this finale that is so beautifully sung here by Rene Fleming.

Oh yes👋👋👋👋

Omg!! They are fantastic!
Such wonderful music!!
It’s magnificent! The best Arabella
This is so beautiful.

I agree with you!
operacat1 Will the Chatelet performance ever be released on DVD?
Renée looks and sounds fabulous!!
Superlative......so many thanks for posting this.
Sehr schön 😗
What a great scene. They are terrific together. This opera is a bit nuts but this is a lovely scene.
Renée Fleming & Thomas Hamson, Magnifico final ---Arabella.
Deux voix merveilleuses doublées de comédiens parfaits !
She is already singing with her body and face during the orchestral prelude
this is so moving. wow.
On atteint au sublime. Merci Ms Fleming.
When Renee flemming sings her voice is so beautiful the angels in heaven cry and even god himself falls to his knees and cries.
Reborn- Lover OMG! How ridiculous a person can be.
God wouldn’t have to cry. After all, HE created her!!
A beautiful Arabella
Just love the tempi, gives the wonderful music a chance to be heard.
wonderful!!!
sehr intensiv
Apart from the singing, Fleming's hair looks awesome...very Austenesque.
LOL - Yes.
Her success is the result of her WONDERFUL voice!!!

Strauss' greatest musical. moment.
exquisitos
❤️❤️
Bezaubernde Stimme von R. Fleming. Und dazu noch ein strahlendes Laecheln :)
W. Mandryka
Wirklich?

It was a female director I think. Which stage direction do you dislike?
🌟🌟
Magnifico Dúo
0:45 coughers everywhere... 30 years ago people were different and wouldn't dream of showing up with a cough.
You are very right.
Della Casa - Fischer-Dieskau // Fleming - Hampson.
Why does he have to throw the glass?
Please help, thanks!

Did anyone think of the servants who have to clean it up?
Just like with Netrebko only easy singing for Fleming... nothing hardcore... such pretty voice she has, and her appearance helps a lot
That throw though 6:06
Hampson ziemlich ausgesungen...schade
Is this Wagner by any chance? This sounds so beautiful!
***** It sounds very beautiful and thank you for that!
This is Arabella, not Rosenkavalier.
Well thank you for the correction it sounds absolutely wonderful.
captmitty Yeah, I know now thanks anyway.
captmitty 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😭

very bad singing from both, terrible high notes and so constricted sound
At 1:19 the voice cracks on the word "war" and in any case the performances are not exceptional. Rather. Here Fleming is definitely out of phase.
I think you're missing the forest for the trees.
Surely you could have done much better with your expertise and your achievements in music!
@@Bumblebeebeebee If you allow, it's a fucking answer

Strauss muss Sänger gehasst haben.Teuflisch schwer zu singen....
Lord this is slow! Fleming is struggling.
Matt Barker Doesn't sound like it to me!!
Lisa del casa is way better
c'est.vraiment pas tres bon.
