@@ndrthrdr1 Yeah, according to AA's own internal documents, pretty much the same as going cold turkey. But I think the big difference is that this gives people structure and guidance when they really need it. It works for those 5% and SMART works for some and cold turkey works for some and medication works for others and therapies for others too. I think it's good to have lots of options available, cause addiction truly sucks and so does dying.
Had 3 days sober and then went on a stupendous bender. All because I felt good about cleaning up the house. Been in and out of AA for 30 years - I once got 15 months sober, I never thought that was possible after so long - but then picked up. Have been out for 4 years now, got back 3 days and then... BUT I have a service commitment which I really need. Would be grateful for your support. Thank you Bill and Dr Bob.xxxxx
I identify myself in this book listening to the audio more and more every time I listen to it I am a real alcoholic Dr. Jekyll Mr. Hyde. But I also found my home in Alcoholics Anonymous praise God for that and all the members!❤️☮️
First time I heard about this book I was in rehab. Fresh out of jail and scared of myself. Most people have the issue of not believing in a higher power. Not me. I was always a believer in Christ but not religious in any sense. Held a bible in jail that saved my soul. First time I heard the term “big book” I thought they meant bible. Took me a while to gain trust in the book of AA. Someone once told me this in rehab, the Bible and god may save your soul but AA and the meetings WILL SAVE YOUR ASS. Thank god and AA for my sobriety I never thought I would accomplish this.
What good does it do a man to gain the whole world but lose his own soul I been sober 4 years the Lord Jesus Christ showed me who he was 3 years ago and I see now that life without him is no life at all
I really appreciate hearing this. I have a neck injury and am unable to read for long periods. This allowed me to do the step study without doing all the reading. Thank you
There must be no reservation of any kind if want to stop drinking got me as I just read this chapter today. I have been sober for since September 2022. I had a relapse once in January this year it wasn't new years but i don't want no reservations because if I think about drinking for any reason I will be overcame by the thought and drink. It's serious that I have to act like my life depends on it to not drink because I don't want to go back where I was. I am a alcoholic no denying that. Every thing I did was drinking involved at work at home at every meal especially when I went out to restaurants when I went cold turkey I tasted beer vividly for a week or so after the cold turkey this I know I am a alcoholic got treatment and commit to stay sober. To hear the book helps. To hear the steps broken down help as well. I am reading everyday to make sure I be strong know what to do if and when someone offers alcohol.
I feel so alone sometimes. I came back to the program recently. I finally found a group that drew me in, where i didnt feel like an outsider anymore. this passage talks about what i need. i am an alcoholic. I am not alone though, which is what Ive believed for so long.
Yeah you know what you guys are right I just Could not control my use of Crack and use like a gentleman ha I had to have it all down to the very last kibble and then some
4 years in another 12 step fellowship. Big Book saved my life!

Day 2. After I fell off the wagon. I just started this program a couple weeks ago. It's an eye-opening experience.

Less than 5% success rate.

@@ndrthrdr1 "rarely have we seen a person fail who has thoroughly followed our path" - originally it read " never have we seen a person fail"
This comment is weak. What's the first most important book then ?
