I love these types of interviews, they matter, not the typical boring hollywood rubbish but meaningful, intelligent and utterly thoughtful conversations. I love the way Chris explains anxiety and I love his honesty; we so often put these actors into the category of being superhuman and untouchable but he showed he is exactly like me and you. He has his struggles, his is anxiety. I truly respect his honesty. AND I love this series of Becoming- who ever thought of it well done too you.
The fact that he practices Buddhism/meditation makes me love him even more. I know exactly what he means, the impact of meditation on your life really is profound.
This is so amazing. If only more interviews were like this, not the "are you single?" and prying into personal life, but personal thoughts about their perspective of life.
hes the perfect Captain America. And I still love how humble he is,the fame really doesnt get full in his head unlike other celebrities. hes such a down to earth guy.
He seems like a guy who knows what to say at the right time. I love how he phrases things and how he makes you think about stuff you never really noticed. Chris Evans is genuinely amazing.
Wow! I didn't know he has anxiety issues nor that he has such a serious side. I love this guy's honesty. And I'm glad said yes to Marvel because now that I've seen him as Steve Rogers, I cannot get myself to even think of somebody replacing him. He's that convincing
I know exactly what he means when he's talking about "brain noise," especially in regards to anxiety. I've had issues with anxiety all my life and it's amazing just how stuck you can get when you let that brain noise keep you from doing the things you want to do. He hit the nail on the head. I just gained a whole lot of respect for Chris. I've always loved him as Cap and thought he was a funny guy in interviews, but his honesty here is so refreshing. It's comforting to know that even big hollywood actors can be just as scared and insecure as anybody else.
Very insightful interview..I don't suffer from anxiety or anything like that, but I think even people who don't can learn something from this. In my case, the part where he said "Maybe the thing you're most afraid of is the thing you should do" really resonated with me. There are a lot of things I wanna try, but I've been afraid to because I don't wanna fail. Hearing such encouraging words from such a successful actor like Chris really helps.
When it comes to anxiety, Chris has always been the person the I looked up to to help get me through those times where I've felt overwhelmed. It's always comforting knowing of someone who understands what you're going through and has some way of getting themselves through stressful times. When I first saw this video, it helped give me a better understanding of how my brain is working and that I shouldn't listen to the noise that's inside it because it's wrong and it's not going to help me get over anything. And even now, in a time when my anxiety seems to be at its highest it's ever been, it's really comforting being able to look back at this and remind myself that it's all just noise and it doesn't define who I am and I can get past it.
i remember watching an interview with chris years ago about how he turned down the role for captain america numerous times. at that point he mentioned about how it's intimidating to play such a big role. i thought, "how could you possibly turn down such a big role when marvel picked you from thousands of other actors?" but now, i finally understand what he really meant by that. to have your life committed to something long term is a terrifying thing. chris loves his family and they mean a lot to them. he wants to be able to have to freedom to do what matters to him and the people who're around him. it is a very human thing for him to do. and the amazing thing about chris is that he actually had the courage to tackled those problems with fear and anxiety. the fact how steve rogers is also very human also, in my opinion, reflects on how chris really is as a person. i have so much respect on him. he will always be captain america in my heart.
He's so inspiring and the fact that he has anxiety issues just like any other human and isn't making himself out to be some perfect celebrity is what makes him so perfect.
I feel like I need to take a moment and really think about what this guy has just said. Wow, I had no idea that this was Chris; that this was on the other side of the fun guy we see on the big screen, good to look at and stuff. I'm really glad I saw this interview; 5 minutes well spent.
He is truly an inspiration for everyone. Particularly for people who also suffer anxiety and depression and the like. He shows what you can accomplish while coping with such potentially debilitating illnesses. Such a beautiful person.
What he said about anxiety actually helps me so much and it's so refreshing to see his serious side- not just the funny guy. I can actually really relate to what he said and its honestly made my day better knowing that there's something that helps
this video means so incredibly much to me. watched it over and over. i can relate to his words so much and ive pretty much always done this shh thing to myself whenever i was feeling anxious. his voice is so calming and i think its lovely to see this rather serious side of him since hes usually quite silly and laughing most of the time in interviews. hes such a great person and its refreshing that hes such a real and authentic person who accepts their flaws even though hes so successful.
usually when i crush on an actor or celebrity, and then watch some of their interviews, i end up hating them or liking them less, becuz they don't rise to that idea that i had of them, but with chris it's different!! the guy exceeded all my expectations, he's sophisticated and very well manered and knows what to say and when to say it!! i'm madly in love!!!!
I wasn't expecting to tear up during this..I've never had anyone break it down to "Brain Noise" when he says "That's just the noise your brain makes" I legit began to tear up. Those words hit, I had never thought of it that way. Always took my brain noise as facts. I'm having a sort of happy anxiety attack because I'm excited to implement shhh into my life. I can't believe it took this long to realize this. I probably should have gone to therapy or something a long time ago but hey this is amazing right here. Thank you.
hes such a humble guy. for a guy to be that grounded and have so much fame and money and still have their head on straight is hard. unlike so many other celebrities out there who literally crave and die for the spotlight he was going to turn a role down BECAUSE of that which is respect him so much more for ..
the brain noise totally makes sense to me. i suffer from bipolar and major anxiety and in my manic moments my brain is making so much noise it's ridiculous. its like all my fears and worries are just torturing me. it's physically painful sometimes how much noise my brain makes. i have to drown out the noise with music otherwise i can't function.
UGH everytime he said SHH I just melted. The interview is so amazing. So touching. And he spoke from his very heart. I just fell in love even more with this man. Whenever I watch Captain America or the Avengers, I will always remember that Chris had to make a difficult decision and that he decided to take it. I am grateful he did because he did such an amazing job. He is an amazing actor, an amazing human being and I hope he still acts for a long time.
He is such a thoughtful actor its amazing. Thats why he is one of my favorite actors of all time. He knows that he is not above anyone else regardless of his status in life.
I never thought as my anxiety and depression and BPDness (is that a word) as just "brain noise" I always try to interpret the brain noise. No wonder I've been running in circles. Just gotta shh myself.
I'm SOOO glad Chris Evans took up the role of Captain America. He made Cap cool. Chris Evans is Captain America - the star-spangled man with a plan! He owns the role. He also owns the role of the Human Torch! No one can ever take that away from him! He's perfect!
I think we're all suffering the same thing than Chris. At least once in our life when there's a thing very important in your life we feel all the same thing your heart is beating very loud and our brain will explode. It happens to everyone it's normal.
just love him...a big fan of him. Saw him at a premiere, he was right before me and there was huge rush. couldn't gather the courage to ask for an Auto. but he is such a chilled out person. God bless him.
Yes! He is so right. The ability to sometimes just shhhhh and embrace a peaceful thoughtless moment were one empty our mind is so priceless. Sometimes its so easy to get wrapped up in life.
I think it would be interesting to show Mr Evans this back & see what he's learned now from doing the ten years & launching ASP. Hi from England in 2nd lock down, takecare and stay safe
well, unfortunately for me, i only discovered chris evans about 2 weeks ago when i watched the first captain america film and over these 2 weeks, i've seen so SOOO many interviews and compilations which showcase his magnetic, hilarious and unresistable personality. but in this video, chris just seems so...spiritual and philosophical and i admire him for sharing such inspiring answers. I will definitely be telling myself "shhh" from now on because what he says about the "brain noise" is so true and inhibiting that it becomes necessary for me to just quiet it down and telling it to become background noise instead of "brain noise". Thank you to this channel, and Intel and obviously and mostly to Chris Evans for sharing such wonderfully raw and useful thoughts :) ps sorry this turned into a fckin essay lmao
"maybe the thing you're most scared of is exactly what you should do" as much as i love the shh stuff, i love this part too. there have been too many things that i haven't done but should have because I was afraid of what could happen. too much worrying for something that could be a good thing in the end.
He is so amazing and I love him best of all Avengers. He set the best role model. In this past broadcast of the Oscars you see him spring to action and offer his arm to escort a female winner with the stairs/ dress combo. I can't wait to see your next character!
I do not suffer from anxiety....but as far as the "brain noise". Well, that is part of being ADHD for me. If any of you have it, you know it's like having a Ferrari brain with bad breaks. Meditation and exercise work to calm myself down, as well as release the pent up energy. I really admire him.
he is so inspirational, that's why I really like him. and not just as an actor, as a person. it's amazing how much one person can affect you, even if you don't know them personally.

He's so wise. He actually has a lot of really intelligent things to say.
I was thinking the same thing
"Maybe the thing you're the most scared of is the thing you want to do." omg. he's a real-life steve rogers.
I'm most scared of dying. Time to bite the bullet.
or join the foreign legion

I love it when successful people come out about having anxiety. It gives me and other people with anxiety a lot of hope.
I love these types of interviews, they matter, not the typical boring hollywood rubbish but meaningful, intelligent and utterly thoughtful conversations. I appreciate how humble and grounded this dude is
It's easy to see why they picked him for Captain America! He's a Boy Scout!
He is not a dude.. you are a dude!
The fact that he practices Buddhism/meditation makes me love him even more. I know exactly what he means, the impact of meditation on your life really is profound.
This is so amazing. If only more interviews were like this, not the "are you single?" and prying into personal life, but personal thoughts about their perspective of life.

Everyone has anxiety, it's a part of life. We just process and handle it differently.
I know exactly what he means when he's talking about "brain noise," especially in regards to anxiety. i have been moved, and now im crying. Never thought that UA-cam would open my mind up this much....thank you chris evans
being someone who deals with anxiety and OCD everyday, i really appreciated that "shhh".
that was the best advice i've ever heard.
He's so sweet. Not one ounce of ego.
He's so perfect. I couldn't see anyone else playing Steve Rodgers/ Captain America.
4 years later and this is still one of my fav interviews
He is so wise...
this is one of the best interviews done on celebrities I've watched. such honest, insightful and inspiring answers.
3:38-3:42 he looks really, really vulnerable.
i will forever love chris evans
I keep coming back to this... time and again.... everytime I need to stop over thinking.... "shuushing" myself in Chris Evans's voice definitely helps

This man is incredibly intelligent. It's a shame he doesn't get more credit for it rather than his looks. Even if those looks are stellar.
I love when celebrities do these types of interviews.

Me too. It got me weak in my knees.
The greatest interviews usually come from conversations. This was great.
he is so inspirational, that's why I really like him. and not just as an actor, as a person. it's amazing how much one person can affect you, even if you don't know them personally.
Why is this still the most calming thing to me
That is how strong I was to survive the brain noise which was almost made me something wrong, but just brought me to ignore it and go on with my faith and deen and good believes and let them speak. I do not suffer now.

Wow, as a marine, I absolutely love his outtake on life, I honor wisdom and this is profound. Thank you sir
So glad he decided to be Captain America! Couldn't imagine anyone else :)
I'm really a big fan of Chris and I wanna meet him someday. He's such a good and smart guy.
I have to say, this was a great interview. The interviewer really just like Evans talk, you know? No random interjections, and it really lead to some great answers!
