Another great video we got 874 acres in south eastern North Carolina 4 blue collar guys and we've hit it hard this year on the Jeff sturgis plan.really appreciate the videos common sense approach and low budget improvements. You truly are the working man's best friend.
Love it, we have a little 13 acre parcel in southern Ohio and 85% of its woods and in the summer we have a doe herd 7,8,or 9. But in the fall we get the bucks, we have neighboring property an he has a trail cam 2 or 3 miles away from us and he has all the bucks in velvet but gets all the does in the fall, he always wonders why and all I say is whitetail habitat solutions. I bought a 30 acre property about a year and a half ago. This will be my second deer season hunting there. I have been doing projects on my property I have learned from you including water holes, hinge cutting, etc. I am seeing many more deer and turkey. Thanks for all your great videos. Good luck this season 🦌
I just want to say thank you. 4 weeks ago i made the first mock scrape of my life, inspired by your videos. I checked my cam today and have several bucks hitting it, including one well worth hunting. I was sceptical on whether it was a good spot since i only have one pic of the 'big one'' so far, but this video has reassured me that if he was comfortable passing through even only a few times this summer then i can count on seeing him this fall. Thanks again ! Your videos are so educating and motivating
I have now gotten several cams set up and get real happy when a buck shows up on all of em in the same day or night just a half hour more or less from each other. Thanks for Info
had a buck on my folks land that was there for 3 years(within 1 square mile) and each year he narrowed his home range and i was after him for 3 years(he was a 170-180) and on his last year he never left the feed lot that we turned into plots, it was unbelievable the late afternoon he came out after a older doe, i harvested him and aged him at 6.5 years old. He shrunk down a lot over 2 years to a 150 but heavy. Massive body of 280+. This video is right on about the summer photos, same thing happened with this buck.
I'm hoping to have a great hunting season this year. I moved my stand, got mineral out earlier, and I have some pics of some really nice bucks on camera. Little over a month and itll be time to get after em
Who the heck was that guy in the middle of your video?Great advice Jeff. That verification will make ya hold out. I have a few pics of some great deer.Havent seen them in a while. But they are here.
Enjoying all your videos this year Jeff. Quick question, ANY other annual to plant that holds up to browse as well as winter rye? I've got 6 small (.25-.33 acre) plots and I've made the beans mistake, and tried peas last year with a little luck, but winter rye is the best I've found for those small plots to not get wiped out in one night. Anything else to try?
Hey Jeff I've been watching your videos for a little over a and using your methods and have made some major improvements to my hunting strategy and process. One question that I have about water holes. In va we can not bait but there is no black and white answer to if that is considered a form of baiting. Would you have any input on if it may be pr may not be considered that
My question would be with all the bucks dispersing during the shift how do you go hunt a spot for “bucks” as in more than one of bucks don’t like being near each other. Almost have to look for an individual buck
Since June I’ve been getting some pictures of my target buck but here is the catch he’s only showing up every 9-10 days 9-11 o’clock at night every time I’ve moved cameras in the direction he is coming from but I can’t seem to get him in the day. I’m getting very worried I feel like I’m just wasting my time now season is coming fast and I have no progress on where to hunt this deer and tips
Thanks for another great video ! Question; does your web series provide new or different information from your 500 videos or is it a better consumable product. (Focused and filled?) Or both? Thanks!
Hi Kurt! There is some new information and of course all new videos...but they are s lot more detailed for each subject or section. For example I believe the 18 videos average Iver a 1/2 hour long. Also, this is a step by step look into how I design a whitetail parcel, in order from beginning to end for a site visit day. A logically focused order of activities and balance strategies to help you design your own parcel by the end of the class. Tests for if your parcel is designed effectively. Assessment of priority as it relates to your individual land. Much more concentrated for how you can design your parcel, step by step. I hope that helps! The video helps explain it s lot too if you have had time to watch it. Thanks for asking 🙂
Whitetail Habitat Solutions Thanks! I’m new this year to your videos but I’ve got tons of time at work to watch(listen) to hundreds of videos. So knowing the steps to planning and balance priorities will focus what put into action first. With my new input into our hunting land I’m hoping I can baby step with the most bang for the buck!
Would like you opinion on hunting pines we have 40acres of them with thicker re growth underneath having a hard time with a strategy thick 10year old clear cut next to it with little hardwoods
ATTENTION JEFF.. lol Can I throw barasica down in standing corn field in a patch that didn't grow. Possibly due to being to wet at the time. Please help me .
How far would you comfortably make a mock scrape from a known buck bedding area in Oct? I found a spot a few years ago that a buck/bucks takes up every year from Oct til Jan but I can't get a stand in because of property lines. I need to get him closer to a good tree and hoping a scrape can bring him within bow range. Bedding is less then 100 yards from property lines on a shelf.
Going to plant sweet feast, I have sprayed twice so far and seems like there is a lot of weed debris. Do you recommend dragging or count on the rain to get the seed to penetrate?
I hunt on a family friends land and the two main spots that I see deer worth shooting have problems one of them is that there are only box stands and I can’t shoot out of those without making lots of noice and the other one is a tree stand but the stand squeaks when I climb up in it. What do I do so I can shoot the nice buck that go through there??? Any advice is helpful!!! Expecatly from Jeff
Jeff, maybe you have some info on this... I nearly bought the Huntwise app but i hesitated because their imagery isnt current, but OnX imagery is. Half of my property was clearcut in 2015 and 2016 and Huntwise's imagery is prior to that even. I think they have the features I'd like but I can't really see my land for what it is.
All of their imagery will be completely up to date as any other map app in the industry within a week or two? They also have the best hunt cast in the industry coming out before deer season...that will be huge! They infused my weather algorithm I published in the 2015 rut issue of Outdoor Life, into their Hunt Cast. In the end the same maps or better...and the Hunt Cast. Will be an incredible app!
@@whitetailhabitatsolutions9751 well Jeff now you got me stewing. I tried a certain "deer celebrity" brother duo's deercast (oops I said the name) over the past couple years, and not to sound like a jerk, but it's pure garbage.
Hi Scott, it is in the video description area...here it is tho and I appreciate you checking it out! www.whitetailhabitatsolutions.com/classes/how-to-design-your-deer-hunting-parcel
Don't patterns change from summer to fall? From my experience I have put cameras on heavily used trails and known fall buck cruising spots, in the summer and have gotten no bucks on camera. I know they are there in the fall but are never there in the summer. I know each property is different but that's just my experience.
They will often cruise thru just a few times during the Summer to let you know they will be back in the Fall. Patterns change extensively for bucks during the "annual whitetail shift" I started writing about 10 years ago, but they will almost always forecast their movements from one location to the other. I like the mock scrapes because it narrows down exactly where they travel when they do travel on the land.
Our patterns change here a lot this year. We have had a large amount of rain flooding some areas. My best trails are now gone. So I had to adapt a fair bit
Hey, do yall have any videos about mineral sites? I used blocks and bio rocks for a few years and not really any luck. I got away with it and I am trying to start it back up. We hunt in south and central Arkansas so a lot of hardwoods and southern Pine farms
No I do not...but I reminds me of the UP of MI...well outside if the winter severity index 😁 Lots of similar habitat. I bet quality food goes a LONG ways towards creating a quality herd and hunt. Along with aligning doe bedding, then buck bedding...all the same whitetail concepts!
Jeff- If I want to do you half brassica and half cereal grains plot on only a 1/4 acre would you still recommend that? or is it too small and the brassica will be eaten up too fast? If the latter, do I still spray in early august but just leave it and then plant all cereal grains 4 weeks later? Thanks, I only have so much to work with..
I also have small 1/4 acre plots. In my experience rye is the only thing that can handle the browse pressure on plots that small. I do have an acre plot I cleared this year that I am going to try half rye and half brassica. I’m still skeptical about the results because the deer browsed down my buckwheat to the point I didn’t get any flowering. The 90 degree weather and drought didn’t help much either.
A H I use the time frames to plant that Jeff recommends. I will adjust a little based on weather forecast. Sometimes the timing gets a little tricky. Waiting for dry days to spray and wet days to seed. Sometimes I only have one day to do both.
