I started my tarot journey in the 80s and actually started with the Aquarian and Morgan Greer decks , as in those days, believe it or not, RWS was a bit harder to come by, even though it was seen as the "main" tarot deck. After finally getting one I hated it, so figuring I was being a rebel I tucked it away and studied the other two decks instead. Well the joke was on me as the symbolism and images are basically the same, only a little more eye appealing then the standard RWS. When I finally went back to the RWS I ended up loving it! The work I had done with the other two was transferable, and now it is my "go-to" deck and has been for years. (Actually the Universal Waite, but still a Waite deck.) I do buy from Amazon and it’s definitely annoying to see all the fake decks! I always scroll down to see if the creator of the deck is listed and if there’s an ISBN number. You can also order from the websites of publishers like US Games and Llewelyn or the creator’s website if it’s independently published.

The rider deck is a good deck because of kaballah imagery
