You can tell that those two guys are genuinely passionate about they are doing. I bet that old man can talk for hours about the intricacies and histories of it all with a smile on his face.
Wow! This is so interesting! My grandfather and namesake was the Chief Yeoman on DE 343 U.S.S. Abercrombie in WWII. The ship's first action was in the Battle of Leyte Gulf in 1944. The ship's main mission was hunting submarines and providing anti-aircraft screens for aircraft carriers. There is a book that was written by one of the other officers on board titled "Little Ship Big War." I can't wait to watch this whole series, thanks so much for this video production.
Thank you for all you do. Having recently been aboard the USS Missouri in Pearl Harbor and the HMS Belfast in London the impression I get is that they are slowly rotting. It has to be tough enough to keep a vessel fully operational with a fully manned and trained crew, it's gotta be nearly impossible with limited staffing and volunteers. Best of luck, and my admiration for you all is unbounded.
Amazing volunteer staff. Well run organization. Lots of old timers with a lot of knowledge sharing it with everyone. Strong community and community support. The mayor and governor love the museum as well.
I sure appreciate this series you're doing, it's great to watch. I'm near the one down here in Galveston. For little boats they sure are big! This one down here needs a little paint, but one thing's for sure: She's not going to sink. 😁
My grandfather always had an answer when someone talked to him about the good old days: "Good? Hmm, that's possible; it all depends on which day you're talking about. "
