I was in the audience for this, it was filmed at Brixton Academy in London. It was not a concert, it was set up as a live video shoot. Lots of us were asked to run onto the stage and kiss the guys in the band. It was a fantastic time in the 80's and this video brings back so many memories, lots of old friends of mine were also there that day and none of us had mobile phones as they did not exist in the U.K. at that time except for a few rich city business people who carried a phone that was as heavy as a brick 🤣

This video captures perfectly the chaos that was the 80s, with crazed fans jumping all over their musical heroes, and security detail....well, let's say the boys were overworked and paid REAL WELL!!! Holly Johnson was a master showman, strutting around in his bathrobe like the King Lear of rock, as though He owned the stage! And yes, fans, he did! This is his legacy, now that he has passed away from AIDS related symptoms, but let not this stop you from loving him or his music, or from fantasizing over what might've been. Feel empowered, again, when the overhead cam zooms to the upturned facial of Holly Johnson, the music pauses, and he shouts his karate shout of "HOOAH!" Frankie Lives , in a way Eddie and the Cruisers WISHED!!!

I was 30 & hot in 1980. I went to every club in New York & Long Island. Always out dancing or seeing every concert I got tickets for! That decade was the most exciting of my life. One I’ll never forget. Out of all the fabulous music that came from those ten awesome years, Relax was my favorite.
1985? What ever. Anyhow I watched the evolution of pop music as it happened as the 1980's passed through a million different musical trends. Pop music production at the time was really complicated. I think it says a lot about humanity

Watching this, I can't help but notice how there's not a single camera in sight, no one shooting videos, no "selfies" while in the audience, etc... just the crowd having a blast and completely being in the moment. When I think back to all the concerts I went to in the 80's, I can only recall one time I snuck a camera in with me. I took a few pics, but, my friends and I were so into the show, all we could focus on was the band as we sang along to all the songs, having a wonderful and very fun time... Technology has come a long way since then, and for the most part, it's benefited our lives. But nowadays, it's as if people are missing what's right in front of them because of it! They're too busy trying to capture the moment rather than *being* in the moment...
I assume you haven't been to a concert since the 80's because no one does this. Sometimes you take a two second clip of your favorite song but no one just sits there filming on their phones.
