Emitt and i were old buddies. We go back to 1972-73-74. We hung out and played in that 1st studio and at 1 point he wanted to write with me - but I wasn't ready or good enough at that point. I tried to find many ways to get back to LA to hang with him. But didn't get back til 1995, and that was the last time I saw him. But I did speak to him some years afterwards and tried to create a gig for him in NYC at a venue called the Fez. Ironically, I suddenly called him two days before he passed and left a message on his answering machine, coincidence? I don't think so. He was one of the nicest, most honest and straightforward guys that i ever known, with tons of talent and intelligence also. And I will miss him a lot. Chris, you did a great job at producing this album and the musicians were superb. Emitt RIP.
The world lost one of it's best, last night. Emitt Rhodes was the world's best one man band, period. I wish we could have gotten to work together. Maybe some day we will, God willing. My favorite song in the world was and always will be, "Live". Thank you, Emitt. Peace and love for eternity.
Handsome, talented, tragic. Emitt Rhodes and Badfinger are the two major sad stories of pop music. You don't know what you got till its gone. A reminder of how fortunate we all are that the Beatles career was placed in the hands of Brian Epstein and George Martin. I hoe you've found peace, Emitt.
When Live came out in the 60's I was about 16 and deep in Beatles & then Yes but between them I heard Live and it was added to my "mind's favorite songs" of all time.
One of my absolute favourite musicians! Unbelievable that all his albums were so consistent and high quality. Considering he was a multi-instrumentalist who built a home studio in the 60s, it's no stretch to call him a genius. Rest In Peace
This development is so wonderful. It's delightful to learn of this project...been a huge fan of Emitt Rhodes since I was a high school kid listening to college radio stations late at night in 70 - 72. Best wishes to Chris Price, and Emitt and all involved!
The album that came was marvelous. I still listen to it the same way I listened to his first two LPs on Dunhill. In a class of his own & he's in good hands with Omnivore -- I'm familiar with their product. Lots of great stuff.
I love this new album in 2016 from Emitt Rhodes. The sound is great and the musicians are superb. it took a sharp producer to drag out these great songs that were sitting in the archives of Emitt's back room and turn them into the best album of 2016 without a doubt. Emitt is a wonderful songwriter and his voice conveys so much emotion on every song that he records.
Dear, Emitt, we are so glad that you're still making great music. Despite the hurdles that you've encountered throughout your career, the artist withing you remains strong. Copycats, imitators and musical parrots would have imploded under the same pressures. True artist can't stop creating. It's how they're wired. It's how you're wired, Emitt. We love the fact that you are so unfiltered in your interviews. No plastic, phony baloney, politically correctness to wade through. You let us hear how you were formed as a person. Best of all, you make music because it's fun. Original great music is actually an artist's thank you gift to the world and you are Santa when it comes to that. We can't thank you enough for all the joy you have unselfishly given. Peace and good health to you.
