The next track in this BGM anthology. This is what plays when Toad tells you the HORRIBLE NEWS about how the king has been transformed. Then you have to do a bunch of crap.
My mom used to play this game at nights while waiting for my brother and I to fall asleep. Watching her play was like my sleeping lullaby. I miss her so much... Rest in peace beloved mother.
On some real shit I almost cried reading your comment. It hit home for me cuz I lost my mom too. She had kidney failure. But I also remember them days when my mom and dad used to play this game all the time when I had the super Mario all stars for the SNES system and coming home from school and they used to slightly hog my game lol and I also lost my dad too. I would wanna believe that Mario bought all my family together lol. So I definitely remember them nights we all stayed up on this game. So I can say the same thing here too
I remember being 5 to 6 years old and hearing this theme while playing the game during the day, for some reason while walking with my dad in the evening this theme came into my mind and I don't know why it made me really sad and feeling like crying, I tryed my hardest to not cry on the street, and when I got home I starded crying my eyes out while remembering the theme, while trying to explain to my parents why I was crying LOL! I still to this day don't know why it made me cry, but it's just a weird funny memory I have from my kid days playing smb3 lol
f*ck man, i know this reply is a year late, but the same thing would happen to me when the music would start playing after beating a koopaling...just straight up BAWLING...my dad was like 'YOU NEED TO STOP PLAYING THAT!!!' LOL
Why? Genuinely curious? I feel bittersweet hearing this, like my childhood and everything I went through in between now and then flooding my memory.. remininscing about my innocence.
Never again will they make a master piece like this game again. To much violence in todays games. Rip awsome games. You made my childhood a great time to live
You have to think though, the target audience that grew up on the NES moved on and started wanting harder, more mature games, looking back they thought that a red and green plumber stepping on mushrooms that walked was childish, and then soon enough a high demand for more mature and realistic games blew up in the 90's and from then on the majority of games became gorey, violent games, although Nintendo does still make good Mario games, sure, the New Super Mario line was not what we expected but even then it wasn't as bad as all the gun games that make up today with realistic corpses and blood splatters everywhere in HD and soon to be in 4K.
I born in 2001, obviously, I didn't play the NES at its golden era, but I played this at my childhood, and Mega Man III on original NES after my childhood. good old times...
It is impossible to not cry when I hear this. I remember hearing it when my mom was playing the game in the 80s. now she's gone and the music just makes me sad since we never got to play this game again after the 80s were over
I noticed similarities between this track and the Mario 1 castle theme. The frantic treble notes from Castle are a little like the glittering, cascading high notes in King. The bass lines have similar intervals and rhythm, too. I'm not well versed enough to tell for sure, but it would be interesting to see if Kondo wrote King as a more uplifting version of Castle.
The kings' quotes when you save them: Small, Super, Fire, or Raccoon Mario: Oh, thank heavens! I'm back to my old self again. Thank you so much. Here is a letter from the princess. Tanooki Mario: Thank you, kind raccoon. Please tell me your name. Frog Mario: Oh me, oh my! You've been transformed! Shall I change you back with this wand? Hammer Mario: Hey, you! How about lending me your clothes? No dice? What a drag.
Was this song inspired by OMDs "Never Turn Away"'s chorus tune? Only Koji Kondo would know the answer, and perhaps is just a coincidence, but they sound a bit similar. Didn´t they? ^^. Super Mario Bros 3 is one of the most loved presents I have for a birthday, in the end of 1991, and the first time I heard this tune, playing that brilliant game, it reminded me to some song I loved in my early childhood, which I suspect it was that song of OMD, as that song hyponotizes me, when I heard in the radio in 1985... ua-cam.com/video/ycZyPpHdaEU/v-deo.htmlsi=iBjRxxEB-z1nvmYE
one of the most beautiful 8 bit tunes i've ever heard.
I Agree With You On That
Thank yo koji kondo.
ikr looks like some star thing
yeah really
Yeah man, these sentimental themes in low bit rate sounds. Another good one is She Was Like a Sunflower from Mother 3
Oh no! The king has been transformed! Please find the magic wand so we can change him back!
My daughter goes nuts when i do the voice of the mushroom hat character. Lol.
@@MrVillafontana It's Toad. Just saying.
THE KING IS A DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOG!

@@mari2x474 oh cool story

@@128bitman *cough cough* *laugh laugh* *SUPER MARIO 3 KING THEME !!!!* oh .. well that was unexpected!
this is the song I want to be played on my funeral...
all this nostalgia contained in 1 small loopy song...
Henri the idea of this at my funeral is the happiest/saddest I’ve ever felt in my life

Would the song play when you fall from a building?
@Virus-20 the entire time
That's so sweet of him and I like your idea.😋
This will be played when my casket is lowered into the ground.
John Burns You and I think alike.
Yeeee
I still think about this comment
Real
I hope you're still alive. You're only 40.

This was my absolute favorite tune of the whole game
A great one. For me it was the end credits song.
@SoEpic69 Ah thanks bro !!! Checked it out. It is nice but doesn't beat the original 😄
Oh it is terrible! The king has been transformed! Find another magic wand even though you already got one to change him back!
All wands belong to kings that still own them
one wand, one king, that's the rule 😐
Other “Kings” Too ._.
Even though it's just a 5 second loop, it doesn't wear on you.
Sweet nostalgia
Makes me wanna cry
I feel the same way.
Same
Same here. :'(
Me too
Why? Genuinely curious? I feel bittersweet hearing this, like my childhood and everything I went through in between now and then flooding my memory.. remininscing about my innocence.
And Mario falling through the clouds with a black sky fits the song so perfectly
this is my favourite, i think..it's basically like a dub loop, no? going to see the king on some official business haha peace
So nostalgic. Now I let my baby listen to it and he loves it. Time/Life is weird.
I used to go nuts and jump like Toad everytime I would hear this theme as a kid haha.
probably the best 78 seconds of video game music
Could listen to this for hours.
I remember the king turned into a dog that is scratching itself 😂
Had this song stuck in my head all morning, thanks for the upload
Oh it's terrible! The king has been transformed! Please find the magic wand so we can change him back.
I know it by heart!
Wow that's amazing.
Imagine the falling with the wand being stuck in loop right after beating world 7. The most bittersweet thing I can possibly imagine.
Never again will they make a master piece like this game again. To much violence in todays games. Rip awsome games. You made my childhood a great time to live
Amen Juel.
*jumps on the first goomba I see*
I mean mario is pretty violent theres just no gore

Need this as an Ring tone
Waking up from a nightmare...
This little jingle is important to me...
Man! I absolutely love this one! Thanks a bunches.
THIS I WHAT IVE BEEN LOOKING FOR
The music that will play at my end credits: "You look so broken when you cry!-"
The end credits music my dad might have:
So peaceful and it makes me want to sleep like it has been a long day of working
Beautiful music from a beautiful game.
No me había dado cuenta lo triste que es esta canción 😭
Nostalgia bro
I born in 2001, obviously, I didn't play the NES at its golden era, but I played this at my childhood, and Mega Man III on original NES after my childhood. good old times...
amazing song !!
Oh it's so nice to be back to my old self again, here's a letter from the princess.
Genial!!!! Que tonada! Me hace ir al pasado y sentirme seguro, cuando jugaba y me quedaba dormido escuchando las canciones con el juego prendido
It is impossible to not cry when I hear this. I remember hearing it when my mom was playing the game in the 80s. now she's gone and the music just makes me sad since we never got to play this game again after the 80s were over
When you glitching to the space and taking no falling damage.
Thanks for this masterpiece, kondo.
I used to get off this shit...watching Mario fall through the sky...and I always kept the Raccoon tail
Saddest Nintendo song ever made, change my mind
I would get all the way through world 1. When I got to THIS song, I would put the controller down and sit there......for HOURS!!!
Jugar por primera vez Mario Bros 3 y escuchar esta sinfonia luego de una victoria fue uno de los momentos mas felices jugando videojuegos
When I hear this music, I imagine someone really having to use the bathroom and repeating, "I gotta go go go go go go, I gotta go go go go go go!"
a sound of transformation, i like it..
Aphex Twin brought me back here. listen to the end of his song 4 and you can just barely hear this.
+John Burns only on that youtube upload ;)
fyoonkay Well I downloaded that version to make a playlist for the Richard D. James Album.. I think it gives it a special sort of weird charm.
Listen to “Seiko 3”
THIS ALSO PLAYED AT THE END OF PAPER MADIO STICKER STAR
You Got The BIG Paint Star!
大変!大変!王様がこんな姿に変えられたよ!魔法の杖を取り返してください。
Why does this feel like the balloon boy mini games in FNAF 3
Un buen final de un recuerdo hermoso. Melodía que trae todo un pasado al presente.

...innocence where have you gone ?
Proud to say this is my childhood religion and not old dusty, violent, fictitious stories.

Someone should layover a beat to this track and then add a rhyme after that. perfect track
