All police, CIA, FBI, DEA, ICE and all other government officers should have mandatory breath test before reporting for duty, and then every 4 hrs while on duty. Judges should do this before taking the bench, and congress and the senate should also have mandatory breathalyzer test every 4 hrs while working.
@@jl123ist So, what reason would you tie up resources and conduct this kind of nonsense? Do you have any validation of reasoning to justify this? Is there some long history of cops showing up drunk or drinking on duty? Or (and this is more self-evident), is this a retaliatory suggestion because some lawmaker floated a bill?
@@OGKenG there have been cases of officers drinking on the job for a long time. I've even seen one of them do it myself. And yes it is also in retaliation of their garbage they shouldn't get to do it to the American public unless they are subject to it themselves.

My car has “lane assist” in it, which almost killed me. I was able to finally disable it and it is permanently off! When I brought it into the dealership after the above incident, they gave me a bulletin from Mazda, stating it was a “known” problem. Cars do collect data on your driving. Cops need a search warrant to tap that information. My car shows the current speed limit, BUT it also picks up speed limits from the signs on the service road. At one part of I-29, where the actual speed limit is 65, my car states it is 25mph. That is why I cannot do one of the insurance company discount plug ins.
That not really how the data presents of queried- your GPS coordinates and speed are recorded, but the speed limit data represented in your on-screen nav system GPS is not tied to the data collection at all. If you want an insurance company to monitor everything you do to save a couple bucks, go for it. The amount of data your car stores is truly amazing, but correlation to speed limits isn't one of them.
Yeah, go ahead, sign up for those insurance data gatherers to save a bit of money . . . Temporarily that is. Your rates will skyrocket when the data is processed.
My first experience with lane assist was with a loaner from the work shop. It literally changed lane into another car, because of a shadow on the street while driving under a bridge.
Mandatory breath tests should be conducted for every Congressman to be allowed into any Govt session. We have way too much legislation that must have been created by drunk lawmakers.
Hey Trilobite, I’d like to amend your proposal. I’d add “or impaired” in addition to drunk. They surely do all kinds of drugs, LOL. They should be tested for those, too! Maybe BEFORE any alcohol testing. Well, except for Barbara Botox and Nancy Piglosi of California.
100% this. As the guy below says, mandatory drug and alcohol testing before any gov't official can take part in official business. Comparing the potential damage of a piss drunk behind the wheel Vs a group of lawmakers substantially impaired...it's not even close.

@kellychristus2496 Sounds like you never read it. Congress is only authorized to do very specific things, and the federal government is further restricted by the 10th amendment. An Article V convention, which we are over halfway to declaring, overrides anything the federal government or the Supreme Court says anyway. They have absolutely no input whatsoever in such a case.
I assume this part of the law will be challenged to the Supreme Court Level eventually. Hopefully they will make the car manufacturers recall all vehicles to disable or remove these devices
These politicians who came up with this BS are a threat to public safety! We need to get rid of everyone of them! This is outrageous and totally unconstitutional!
Imagine your in a situation where you need to leave your home let’s say to get to work and your car won’t start because you used mouth wash. Or let’s say your pregnant wife starts going into labor right after you lay down for bed and your car won’t start because you had just brushed your teeth 😢
Aren’t these congressmen/women the worst offenders of road laws? I remember seeing a video of a lady listing off an ungodly amount of charges only to reveal the crimes were all committed by these people. They need to be held to higher standards but it seems they never will…
No! They are constantly held to a much lesser standard. The Covid lockdowns proved as much. Every Democrat that was in favor of lockdowns, violated them while regular people were arrested. Gov Whitmer had a dude arrested for fishing alone in the middle of a great lake. Yet she and her husband regularly went out on their boat. Pelosi and the Mayor of Chicago getting their hair done maskless. Gov Newsome dining with friends and family at closed restaurants. In fact, if you wanted freedom you had to go to a Republican state.
Then you have to support candidates that dont take any corporate money and want to take money out of politics. No dark money and low caps on donations. If you cant buy politicians then they have to answer to the voters. My guess is that you didnt support these plans and vote for Bernie Sanders. He was the only presidential candidate to want to take money out of politics and rebuke corporations and still is. This is why the media ñies about him...he wants to remove corporate control over our media so they are free to report the truth.
Oh, they're representatives alright. The real question is who's interests do they represent? Some of them are legitimate and actually represent the American people, but far too many represent other interests, such as corporate interests, foreign interests or ideological interests.
@@Xiaengao On the contrary, either you're a pessimist or you have unrealistically high expectations. There's no magic button here that automatically makes everything right just because a few of the right people were put into office, and for sure it takes more than elected officials to turn things around. In the first place, it doesn't get to be this bad overnight, or because one or two bad politicians were put into office. The fact of the matter is that our governmental system was designed for everyone to be engaged, and in order for it to continue properly everyone has to have their priorities in order when they go to the voting booth. We ended up in this situation because the American people became corrupted, and in turn voted corruptly. Every person that goes out and votes for politicians that promise them benefits is part of the problem, but just as much are the people that "don't like to talk politics", because they are paving the way for the corrupt voters to get what they want. The only way for this to be turned around is for the U.S to turn from its hedonistic ways and back to God, who is the only source of good in the world. We have to return to the traditional values that used to govern this country, and that can only work if we turn back to the source of those values.
We need to do a home and office inspection to look for under age kids trapped behind hidden walls or in basements. Also a audit of all their bank accounts. WE need to redistribute their excess money. NO POLITICIAN SHOULD EVER BE A MILLIONAIRE!! These crooks need an attitude adjustment.
What they fail to mention is unless you're a member of Congress, a family member of a member of Congress, a wealthy political donor - or otherwise politically well connected. It'll just be another law foisted upon the peasants of this land.
The danger level of this is off the charts despite the privacy violations imagine if you’re fleeing a criminal will it limit your speed? Will it decide you’re impaired and stop your car in a dangerous area? Can a bad actor hack and kill your car? What if you’re sick attempting to get to a hospital? How long until your willingness to give up your rights affect mine?
I just saw this for the first time. Just imagine if someone is trying to get away from somebody who is trying to kill them. However, this law needs to be challenged before the US Supreme Court. Unlawful Serch and seizure. I hope the Supreme Court would squash the police state.
@rjstegbauer yeah can you just imagine, Wait a minute before you kill me. I need to find my selector switch and then find the fleeing a murderer setting on my selector switch. Or telling your loved one, don't bleed too fast. I can't get the selector switch to work 😫
Whether it's the War on Terror, the War on Drugs, or the War on Drunk Driving it's never actually about what they've declared war on. It's always about using that war to tighten the screws on the general populace.
That "tightening of the screws" is the only thing these laws do for sure. All the rest is just theoretical. The War on Drugs was a dismal failure. But what it did do for sure was exponentially increase the number of illegal drugs, grow government and the criminal justice system (CJS). Today, our CJS is Big Business thanks almost exclusively to the War on Drugs. In fact, 2/3 of the people in our jails and prisons are there due to drugs and drug related charges. And all those in these industries thrived because of the WoD.
That is the Craziest Thing I've Ever Heard! I own several Car's, but I like driving my 2003 knowing there is nothing in that old truck! I even drove it for a year without a Dash Cluster because it stopped working so I took it out!
Well, since they have drivers to chauffeur them around, this law won't really affect them. They can imbibe to their heart's content, since it's never even their turn to be the designated driver. Considering the ridiculous legislation that they've been producing, I think they've been exempting themselves for quite some time.
We will pay for the congressman's personal driver so they wont have any data to explain during election. this is the same as how politicians get their accounts to make their tax returns look great before they release them for election.
So, A person is driving alone at night in a very rural area, thru a snowstorm and the system deems you impaired and turns off your car and you freeze to death. What the hell is wrong with the world. Who gets to pay for that fatal mistake?
It’s a step by big brother that leads to the next step. I’ve driven vehicles with lane detection devices. They don’t recognize road construction, weather conditions, avoidance of potholes or debris. Thanks for the video
What if you have to slam on the brakes on a lonely country road because a crazy deer jumps out in front of your car but the stupid monitoring system deems that as reckless driving ?
Yes. I was in Australia in 1987 driving a rented car at night, when a kangaroo jumped across the road in front of me. I just avoided hitting it, but to a monitoring system, it would have looked like I randomly braked hard at 60 mph, then continued on.
Why would you think that the one agency with more guns than the Marines, that exclusively trains their door kickers to raid single family homes would ever investigate the people who gave them that power honestly?
Imagine you just stopped off at a restroom along your route. You get in your car and realize you forgot to wash your hands. It's freezing cold in the middle of a blizzard, so you don't want to go back outside. You start your car to stay warm, and you reach for your bottle of hand sanitizer. Your car shuts down, and it won't start up again. You suddenly realize what has happened. The hand sanitizer has set off the breathalyzer, so you contact the local police to come out and reset the vehicle, but the blizzard has caused a pile up, and the police can't get to you or your toddler in the back seat. Meanwhile, the temperature of the cab is dropping drastically. You can see your breath, and your fingers are getting numb. Now what?
What if the car pulls over to the side of the road on a road with no shoulder. Or the car stops when you are being tailgated or in heavy traffic, or going fast. This is crazy.
My very first call as an EMT was to an intersection where a driver had passed out at a red light. The local cops had the car surrounded. Just like you mentioned, the poor guy's breathing smelled like he'd been drinking, when in fact he was hyperglycemic. The really sad thing was the cops were disappointed!
Make it a law for every politician and bureaucrat to be monitored 24/7/365 and that information to be published daily for yhe American public to see. How far do you think that will go. It will be the standard " Laws for Thee but Not for Me" !
Before doing something like this, we need mandatory, daily breath and blood tests for all politicians to check for excessive blood-alcohol levels and illegal drug use.
Have a buddy who signed up for Progressive snap ap to monitor his driving for a lower rate. We had a major snow blizzard. His car was buried. He dug out his car but got stuck on the road. He had to do the classic rock back and forth to free the car and power thru the snowy road to get to work. 3 days later he gets a registered letter from Progressive. Progressive informed him his policy was REVOKED for reckless driving. He called Progressive and they explained why he was canceled. He laughed. So he went back to State Farm. State Farm said he had to participate in the DREADED INSURANCE POOL. He the only thing that saved his ass was his ring door video that showed him rocking the car. This is bad news. Here is my second point. When these fancy collection things start to go bad as they age. Why do I have a feeling only a " CERTIFY repair person is allowed to fix it." That will be TIP TOP dollar repair bills.

Dad had something similar happen at work in the oil field as even years ago, their driving habits were monitored. Well right after installing this tracker, he got stuck on the trail to a job site and did something similar and got penalised for driver abuse of the vehicle (or something like that). He managed to get out of it as his boss was no rookie to the field work and got the violation removed. He said that thing would report sudden stops as well such as stopping for deer or other traffic pulling in front of him. Funny thing was, part of his job was being the safety driver coordinator and those instances was putting his job in jeopardy even though he was accident and ticket free with regular drug/alcohol testing. Places like Wyoming have extreme weather conditions. High winds and blizzards with little to no advanced notice, and all of this in a mostly rural environment. A person can be driving along I-80, at 80 MPH, and be hit with a 60 MPH gust of wind. That gust will cause you swerve and have to work to maintain your lane. Will this system recognize that as a deviation from normal driving behavior and shut your vehicle down? What happens if a person gets their vehicle shut down in a rural area without cell service during freezing temps? There are lots of variables that I doubt any of these "officials" have taken into account.
Wildlife running into the road or roads with poor maintenance would also trigger a system that bases things on "erratic" driving. Or dirt roads. Dirt roads do all sorts of strange things to car systems designed by city people who've never seen dirt roads. My Hyundai i20 ABS and traction control go mental on dirt roads. Traction control I can just turn off, but ABS has caused some scares when braking simply stops working (until you force the pedal down harder).
Halfway through this video I realized why they did that, because this would justify and strengthen the driverless vehicle procession, in other words, it will strengthen the companies that are invested in Ai or autonomous driving vehicles, no matter what the outcome is.

Insurance companies are already providing monitors to drivers under the guise of giving you a discount if your are a safe driver. But, they have access to everywhere you go, how you get there, how fast you drive, etc.
Smart lady! I am currently suing State Farm for that very action. Here's something to chew on... In truth, you pay an insurance company to be responsible for your accidents. State Farm raised my rate $40.00 per month because they claim the cost of parts and labor have gone up on my 42 year old vehicle. The rub is I only carry PL/PD insurance, not full coverage. In essence State Farm tried to make me responsible for other people's actions. So here is the law concerning that It's called the "Privity of contract" and it states "It is a common law principle which provides that a contract cannot confer rights or impose obligations upon any person who is not a party to the contract." All I wanted Congress to do is fix Social Security and Medicare, instead they are requiring cars to drive themselves, run on batteries, and monitor me to see if I am drunk driving. I don't think Congress can accomplish this without screwing over everyone who drives a car.
By fix, I hope you mean phase them out entirely over the next few decades. They are completely unconstitutional. The Supreme Court said so until FDR threatened the court with packing. Plus, those two programs plus the interest on the debt exceed federal revenue on their own. The proverbial elephant in the room. Furthermore, investing the money I paid in taxes would give me a far bigger check at retirement than the federal check.
These technologies are not aimed to prevent drunk driving. They're stepping stones to a world where we can't drive ourselves, and have to be in self-driving cars. That's the plan all along.
I'm not against self driving cars as long as they have no data connection to the goverment bodies No, it's aimed to install a China style social security system.

Unconstitutional on its face. Why don't lawyers ever go after these repugnant "laws" which do violate the Constitution? There are just so many of them.
The majority Americans agreed with state governments when states claimed driving is a privilege. Now had we pushed back insisting, as the libertarians did, that driving is not a privilege but actually a Right, falling under the Constitutional Right to free travel-- than it would be alot harder for the gov to pass these draconian laws. But no, We the People believe and continue to agree with state govs that driving is not a right and only a privilege. Just like we agree that gov has the right to tax property; hence nullifying actual private ownership of anything, simply by agreeing with the taxation. We get the Government we deserve.

Here is an issue with the car taking over steering. My new Subaru has it and tries to take over the steering when I’m on an ice road. It’s very dangerous because it tries to basically kill me. The government needs to mind it's own business. I can just imagine scenarios where this could go bad. What if a small child runs out into the road, you jerk the steering wheel to avoid hitting the kid, but the monitor in the car thinks you are drunk driving, takes control of the wheel and forces you to hit the child killing them. When these systems start showing up, I hope some smart people figure out how to disable those systems and share the knowledge with the rest of us so we can maintain our own driving autonomy.
Exactly the duty of government. Provide the basis, then get out of the way. Too many of those that hold political office think they are there to baby sit the public.
Yes, it is clearly a 4th amendment violation. It is search/seizure without individual RAS which is by definition always unreasonable. I'd argue even the "administration" checkpoints where the courts allow suspicionless search/seizure enmass are unconstitutional but at least those are limited to accessing specific places. Random checkpoints on the road or mandating you prove you aren't a criminal to use your own property? Absurd and massive intrusion which is also a clear 4th amendment violation.
But is it wrong to have to prove you are the owner of said property or have the right to? Cause if the proof you provide proves that you are not the rightful owner; then you are technically a criminal and do not have the right to use. Then grey area is something of an understatement here. I mean technically teens with fresh drivers licenses don't usually have their own car but isn't that where insurnace comes in to act as proof they have permission to use said vehicle legally. Over all there is just too much grey area this law.

Insurance companies are already providing monitors to drivers under the guise of giving you a discount if your are a safe driver. But, they have access to everywhere you go, how you get there, how fast you drive, etc.
Do you drive with your smartphone on your person?
Ok. But he is lying. The clue is that he does not read you/us the text.
So here is the law concerning that It's called the "Privity of contract" and it states "It is a common law principle which provides that a contract cannot confer rights or impose obligations upon any person who is not a party to the contract." And Julie you were spot on about the tactic called Gaslighting, where they offer a monitoring device to grant arbitrary control by consent.
They can also shut you down any time they want to...oops.
@@JRBendixen Actually, if you Snope this subject you may find out differently. He postulates possible outcomes of what is in the bill, but he's allowed to speculate.
All I wanted Congress to do is fix Social Security and Medicare, instead they are requiring cars to drive themselves, run on batteries, and monitor me to see if I am drunk driving. I don't think Congress can accomplish this without screwing over everyone who drives a car.
They want us out of cars, really any mode of transportation. They want us to go to work then go home and stay there.
By fix, I hope you mean phase them out entirely over the next few decades. They are completely unconstitutional. The Supreme Court said so until FDR threatened the court with packing.
Plus, those two programs plus the interest on the debt exceed federal revenue on their own. The proverbial elephant in the room.

These technologies are not aimed to prevent drunk driving. They're stepping stones to a world where we can't drive ourselves, and have to be in self-driving cars. That's the plan all along.
This is 100% correct.
I'm not against self driving cars as long as they have no data connection to the goverment bodies
No, it's aimed to install a China style social security system.

They do and when they end up in Supreme Court the court fucks us
The #1 cause of vehicle accidents is not drunk driving. The #1 cause is Distracted drivers. Those texting, putting on make up, attending to children…. Distracted drivers, not drunk driving.
Jeff, PLEASE continue to follow this and tell us why no one is challenging this clear violation to our constitutional rights.
Because any challenge would be struck with a simple phrase
"Driving is a privlage not a right"

I bet there will also be the ability to remotely disable a vehicle.
They have been slowly implementing this in the trucking industry for years. Even though DWI is very rare in that industry. No one cared because it wasn't happening to the public at large. Now it's coming to the general public, and people are going to freak out about it...This is what happens when you ignore the taking away of freedoms of fellow citizens because it wasn't effecting you. It always spreads..
I know, and when you do talk about when it is only affecting 0.7% of the populace people act like you are supporting drunk driving. No, we are supporting not filming everything and then sending that information to a third party. I've been yelling about this since I was 16 and they changed the gun laws, making it a mandatory 1 year in prison if you had a firearm in your vehicle (could be in your damn trunk) and were not registered to both open and conceal carry. The gun could be completely legal, but you better damn well get a certificate from the government say it is OK for you to touch it. _"You can't drive around with a gun for protection stupid. We'll protect you. Honest. Now get out of the car, your chewing gum. Drunk people chew gum. You are going down kid! I am 75% sure this will get struck down by the courts or nixed entirely once people in government start getting whacked. Unless they don't have to have them due to National Security risks...If it is applied to members of government, even at the local level, it will end up struck down. Still, just the thought that it could pass is horrible. It just goes to show that these people representing us and *MAKING NEW LAWS* do not understand the current ones, and more importantly, what they are based on. How much do you want to bet AOC has never, in her entire life, read the Constitution, Bill of Rights and the other 27 amendments along with the 6 unratified ones? I can almost promise she has never read *ANY* of them. None. I would bet most read up to _"We the people..."_ and called it a day because it just was not as entertaining as YT Shorts, Instagram, Snapchat, Facebook, Twitter/X and TikTok. Our country is f'ing screwed.
it works really well in trucking, seeing as how many are involved in bad weather wrecks where speed is involved.
