After the break-up of the Go-Go's in 1985, Carlisle went on to have a successful solo career with radio hits such as "Mad About You", "I Get Weak", "Circle in the Sand", "Leave a Light On", and "Heaven Is a Place on Earth". The Go-Go's reformed in 1999, and Carlisle continues to perform with them regularly while also maintaining her solo career.
The combination of Kathy Valentine on bass and Gina Schock on drums is killer! I started playing drums because of Gina. I realized it was okay for a girl to play. I just met her in person a few months ago. She is the sweetest person ever. 🥰
Kathy Valentine is a rock: always super-steady! You can look at their live videos here on YT-from across their timeline, and no matter how loose everyone else may be on whatever night they were filmed, Kathy (and frequently Gina) was ALWAYS accurate, lively and rock-steady!

Pure pop perfection in every way. For another interesting take on this, Terry Hall (who is the co-writer on this with Jane Weidlin) and his group Fun Boy Three did a version produced by Talking Heads' David Byrne which gives it a more Middle Eastern sounding setting. A great song is a great song. And for Summer feels, Haircut 100 "Love Plus One" and Swing Out Sister "Breakout".
Jane Wiedlin from the Go-Go's co-wrote this song with a guy named Terry Hall. Terry Hall's band Fun Boy Three does their own version of this song, which I also like.

The Go-Go’s A&R rep was Alice de Buhr who was the drummer for Fanny. I hope you get around to reacting to Fanny again. You reacted to them in February 2022 but nothing since. Hopefully you’ll react to some live Fanny preferably from their Beat Club sessions.

Vacation is another great song by the GoGos
They already reacted to it. 😊
Great band with a lot of good songs. You guys covered We Got The Beat which is a must listen. Also, Vacation and one of my personal favorites This Town!!! Belinda is the queen of kool.
I love this song and it transports me to my youth incredibly quickly ... and I never realized how fantastic the bass line was until just now. Wow!
Love this song.
Their video to Turn To You is REALLY fun.
The Go-Gos provided the soundtrack of my preteen & young teen years - then my young adult years with their comeback albums. A few more of their songs y'all may want to check out include "Turn to You"; "Lust to Love"; "Unforgiven; "You Thought"; "How Much More" & "La La Land". I'd also suggest some of Belinda's solo songs - "Mad About You"; "In Too Deep"; "Circle in the Sand"; "I Get Weak"; "Summer Rain" & "Leave a Light On" (Featuring George Harrison on guitar).
I love this song, the story behind it, and the other version by the great Terry Hall's band Fun Boy Three. Wonderful.
True, if they are really interested in the "girl band" story, they must check out Fanny.
I just recommended Fanny's "A Place In The Country". Alice actually replied to comments on another reaction video to that song! The reactor responded to you also!
Yep! 👍
A great song. The Fun boy Three did a great cover of this song. 😊
Technically its the other way round, Terry hall wrote this.
@@Stevelives13 Oh wow, I didn’t know this. 😊
I prefer the Fun boy Three version. Maybe because I heard it first as it was a big hit in the 80s UK.
Notice Jane Wiedlin's solo.
She also has solo Albums.
She was also the drummer for The Hex Girls.
Jane also had a band called Frosted. Only put out CD called Cold, it's very good.
More Belinda Carlisle please. Her late 90s albums were 🔥.
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I miss the 80's. Peace, Love!!
I was on leave from the Navy in the summer when this song came out. It was on the radio all the time and I thought they were singing "Honest I See You". For years I thought those were the lyrics lol. This song just always puts me in a great mood.
Me too!
@@triggerwarning5762 It still sounds more like Honest I see you than My lips are sealed lol
@@kraig7777 What was your rating? 87-91, AE2.

The Go Go's and Flock of Seagulls was my first concert ever....great 80s show!
You've gotta listen to Hazey Shade Of Winter by The Bangles. Talk about women in rock!!!!
They did that one already and really liked it!
@@hellokimmy68 oh! Sweet! I'll have to check it out. I hope they get into some Veruca Salt for Female Friday someday!!!
@@MrEriczamorez I've been requesting Veruca Salt, Sonic Youth, Elastica.... hopefully they'll get there!
@hellokimmy68 me too! Veruca Salt, Blur and Oasis!!! They did Republica a few months ago so I was hoping they get into some Elastica.
Belinda Carlisle "Circle in the sand" Official video is the best.
