Thanks to COVID, I'm not going out, not doing much, don't have my vacations booked, or concert tickets purchased, and now my checking account balance looks so good and I don't want to spend ANY of it, even though there are things that must be purchased. :) So, I wasn't like Clancy before, but I'm becoming more like her.
And girl, they agreed to you on a CASH offer? Bravo! Usually, the dealerships make a cut of the financing back, so they're harder to budge on those cash purchases.

@@appletree4433 Mazda's build quality has improved but they're not nearly as reliable as most Hondas. Unless you're buying an Odyssey or an Element, Hondas are better than Mazdas. Hondas have stronger engines even than Toyota on average. Mazda's quality is more comparable to Kia's or Hyundai's.
The Skyactiv VVT engines in the new Mazdas are notorious for breaking and burning oil, and their transmissions are a little on the weak side. They are better than Nissans though, I'll give them that.

I grew up with the same attitude to always buy used, let the first owner eat the depreciation, but I don't see the value proposition as much with the higher used prices. I think the best financial thing anyone can do is keep a car for 10+ years (assuming you don't drive an insane number of miles). If you keep a car for a long period of time, the cost differential between used and new becomes so small spread out over the life of the vehicle. Enjoy your new car!

It's because our state of mind is to save. Even when you end up buying a house you're gunna feel this same way, because you are just giving away everything you saved and it feels wrong but that's the point of saving, to spend it on the stuff we were saving it for. It's nice to have nice things if you can afford it. It's all about balance, as long as you're not always a reckless spender and you save, it's okay to make a big purchase every now and then.

The Clancy mobile 😂 Okay, that made me laugh for some reason. Girl, it’s fine, be excited! Now you have it and you won’t have to worry about it for a really long time! You can save instead of making car payments! I actually just financed a new 2018 Sentra, 6 months ago, and I love it. I hate the payments($290), but I love having the new car. So I’m good w it. 🤷🏼‍♀️ Congrats on the Clancy mobile!! Lol

Congrats on your new car 💕I always have just paid cash for cars I've had idk I'm just scared to ever have a car payment! I'm probably going to eventually have to get one but, I hope not!

Jenn Jones Thanks! Yeahhh, this is the first time I’ve financed, I figured I’d rather get something new that’s under warranty for the next 5 years, than get something older(and cheaper, that I could pay cash for), that has no warranty. That was really the main thing. Sucks having a payment, but, whatever. Haha :)

I used to be the same way, "why buy new?" However, this is how I look at it now. Get a new car and maintain it well and it can last like 15+ years. So, you spent like $25k for a car that can last 15ish years. Or.... keep buy used ( where you have no control over how it was previously maintained) and hope it lasts like 7 or 8 years. But, then you could end up spending like $40k+ for 2 used cars to last 15 years when your new one would have done it for $25k.

Andrea Stylen that is horrible logic. There are too many factors to determine longevity of a used car. If it’s a Toyota or Honda, it’s going to last until 300k-400k used.

You should have bought a cr-v. I like Mazda don't get me wrong. But Honda's are better reliability wise. Also rental you should have gotten a loaner

Did you buy or finance it? Buying a car is what Clancy did by purchasing with cash. If you financed it you didn't buy anything the bank owns the car.

You are better off with a Mazda...
Stay away from Nissan they have a bad marriage with Renult
    Engine and transmission failure's
    You dodged a bullet..

I disagree with your paying in cash if there was a low interest promo offer available.. which there probably was. I financed for 0.9%, paying with cash means you won’t be earning interest on that amount in a savings account.

Life is short. Buy what you want and deserve and don’t listen to what other people say. What’s the point of having money if you don’t enjoy life?

This will be me in June when I get my Subaru. My dad owns it now and he’s loves the remote start.
You seem hard working. You definitely needed the new car! It’s not like you bought a Lamborghini girl. Mazda is a smart purchase.
