- Since October 26th is International Print Day, here’s inking a 3x5 Kelsey Excelsior tabletop printing press to print an image of a late 1700s wooden common press. The ink is a violet oil base ink.

This is the ASMR the internet needs, not people eating food🤣
Exactly. That food chewing and slow talking is gross as heck to me. Id love to hear industrial sounds along side nature. Yes I'm weird thank you.
does anyone ask?
@@rtsrt165 Did anyone ask you to ask if someone asked?
Exactly. Who the heck do you think you are?

that press took a selfie 🤣

Thanks 👍!!

"Printing presses printing images of printing presses!? How perverse!" - C3PO, probably😁
This is so satisfying. I wonder how this press came to be, like who invented it and how many trials and errors did it take
Johannes Gutenberg invented it.
@@pinja444 Gutenberg‘s was nothing like this. He repurposed a vertical screw press used to press grapes to make wine. This little Kelsey 3x5 is more closely modelled after the Gordon platen press invented by George Phineas Gordon in 1850.
@@beefchicken get pressed
@@beefchicken He still invented THE fucking printing press.
shits pathetic as fuck
My father was a pressmen for many many years. This brings back some very old memories
Nice nice…also nice Death pfp
I want a separate video of this for an hour😫 the sounds are so satisfying
Never find cool printers like this anymore and it’s amazing on how it works. Love it!!
Can you tell me how an inkjet printer works? Pretty amazing huh
This video is so relaxing
Oooh! Looks like someone gouges their ink! Even if you don’t use it, scoop out all the dried ink and dispose of it. Then using your spatula, smooth an even layer of ink parallel to the level of the tin can. A can of gouged ink gives more surface area for the ink to dry and renders the ink unusable.
Just a heads up from someone who learned the hard way by gouging the shop ink and being “ostracized” by my professors and techs.
You almost had me fooled into thinking you were a pressman until you called the ink knife a spatula. Good point though.
My grandfather had one just like this, I vividly remember printing custom napkins for weddings and stuff with him as a kid. Thank you for this warm piece of nostalgia 💙
Now days some jerk would want to sue him for not using food grade ink
I love the mechanics of old machinery.
Very nice job!
How about using a printing press to make a dope beat. That sheit was fire. 🎧🎧🎧 😂
innit. 🤘
Back then this was a necessity, nowadays it is art!
I love how simple, yet perfectly effective this printing press is. Very efficient.
When anxiety hits:
"Why it's not going all the way 😭😭"
Skim that can of ink!
Beautiful !
Seeing this device to ink a roller, but using like 80lbs of iron to do it, is probably the most Victorian thing I've seen in a while
Old tools like that are so clever
That is pretty cool!!!
Pure mechanical ❤️🔥
It’s so rudimentary yet cleverly designed!! I love it!!
Plot twist: the printing press in the image is printing and an image of the printing press that printed it.
He can do an image of a printing press printing an image of a printing press printing an image of a printing press printing ... Sorry this gonna take a while
Love these videos
Please keep going
Omg that is so much work, I don’t understand how that’s an improvement over a rubber stamp
This is really cool!
Just with the sound you know this is good quality 👍
Watching the paint even out was so unexpectedly satisfying. I didn't even think about how something like this was needed but it makes total sense
I bet the could have made it completely silent.
But, it was made by a man. So satisfying mechanical noises, im supposing, were mandatory
Such an awesome sound
The loudest noise is the sound of the pawl on the back of the ink disk. There were quieter arrangements for advancing the ink disk, my press uses bevel gears and a sprag clutch and the ink disk rotates silently. You may be surprised to learn, though, that it was also made by a man.
Amazing 🤩
That is the coolest little press. I have never seen that version
The color is perfect, so rich and gorgeous
Was always curious how a printing press function, cool to see
Thanks for bring back a high school memory from 1990. We has the electric version, it was much larger but pretty much made the same noise!
Print an image of a printing press…love it!
Simple mechanism. Yet clever
Perfect spread ever..
I never even thought of using Raspberry jam as ink.
Did offset printing in shop class in junior highschool, small lumber town in Oregon great memories...they don't have schools like that anymore.
So cool. I regret not visiting the museum. While I lived in California.
I think 45 years ago I use do this job at my Dad's business. That one is bigger size machine though. I missed all that stuff.
absolutely beautiful!
So much effort for so little return. Crazy we weren't more efficient in the past
You could print a thousand copies with that machine. So it becomes more efficient.
MY FIRST JOB IN BRAZIL WAS AT A PRINTER, AND I DID EXACTLY THAT, IN A MACHINE LIKE THAT. I WAS 11 YEARS OLD, WHAT A WONDERFUL TIME. IT WAS THE STARTING POINT TO BECOME A GRAPHIC DESIGNER LATER.
Very nice 👍
Прекрасная картина получилась
That was great! Thanks for sharing ✌️
The first printing press to take a selfie of itself and without a camera😂
Vintage press🥰🥰
The perfect amount of thermal paste
Just a lovely mechanism
Requesting video of how you make the little plate that presses the image.
Watching that roller coat the press with paint was BEYOND SATISFYING…thank you for sharing this video…🫡⭐️🫵🏽
It’s ink, not paint!
@@SacramentoHistoryMuseum yeah I meant to type ink, I drew a blank page after I began typing and just went with paint.. I love historical machinery they just amaze me how a 100 year old piece of equipment functions flawlessly like the old newspaper presses…
It's amazing that only a blob of ink is needed to cover and print the entire plate.
That beat in the middle was straight heat.
My god hardworking and perfection, no margin for error 😮😮
I need things that sound like this in my life rn..
I watched this thrice and it's still satisfying asf
This is so cool Thankyou for sharing ❤❤❤
ImPRESSive!
it's like every piece is custom made
That is very imPRESSive! Dad pun aside (but intended)... I am in awe of that old school tech!
What a genius you are...
Inception-level printing!
the underappreciated printers job and skills
While watching this my brain giving Elon Musk background music 😂😂
Much Respect
Inception DUN DUN!
old mechanical stuff is just 👌
This may be my favorite one! Still like seeing the friendly faces tho!
It is impressive how less color they need
beautiful
Very impressive 👏🏾
So precisely working like an orchestra
I'm IMPRESSed
That's like printing a photo of a printer printing a photo.
reminds me of print shop in highschool.
Please educate me on why the plate spins. Is it for even distribution of paint? Could you also show the full mechanism? Very interesting old tech. Glad it prevails!
this is amazing how wood block printing was brought from china to europe by marco polo which would take a lot of effort and now we can print stuff from the comfort of our seats
Nice 👍😎
Get meta boys!
I’ll bet that the printed printing press prints
Images of printing presses printing printing
Presses printing printing presses printing
Printing presses printing printing presses
Printing giraffes.
Great, now I want a tiny printing press
So satisfying
I'm Impressed!
Very important invention that changed history...
Wonderful sounds
Thanks for ur video..... i can see in my small age my grand father had a own press this machine is big in my house once a long time but now i dnt see this type machine in around .... thanks for remembering that moments
Whole time I was focusing only on the metal plate 😶
that was oddly satisfying
this blew my mind
Printing press just took a selfie...
Sounds like a Resident Evil Puzzle
Sacramento History Museum? I love their gentle irony!
Great👍
it should’ve been a picture of a printing press printing a printing press
Just impressed
