The Beautiful Bottlebrush Buckeye

Imagine a clonal summer-blooming shrub with a native range in Alabama while also being cold hardy in northern Ohio! Such a shrub would describe the bottlebrush buckeye!
The bottlebrush buckeye (Aesculus parviflora) leafs out in early spring with the new leaves emerging orange before fading to green. This nearly native, elegant shrub looks especially spectacular lining a driveway, path or woodland trail.
