The Mann’s are some stand up guys. Really helped you get started. Can’t go wrong with the old 4020, affordable, big enough for most tasks, reliable as a hammer, plus the utility of the loader. That was a smart choice. Best of luck on your first growing season!!
The 4020 Diesel has a six-cylinder engine tested at 84 drawbar and 91 PTO horsepower. The 4020 is significant for its great popularity; over 184,000 units were built. It was the most popular tractor of its time.
nothing beats, friendly, helpful, caring, selfless, giving neighbors that will do anything to help fellow farmers that are new and help them get started, this goes for anything really. I have noticed the americans and canadians have a real strong bond with fellow farmers and stay united as one and band together to help out when needed!
Love the fact that you’re farming with old school equipment!! The hydraulic cylinder on the disc is on backwards. The moving arm (Ram) should be attached to the axle and the base of the cylinder (that hoses are attached to) should be connected to the frame. You can swap the hoses around on the cylinder to make it work. Then the hose shouldn’t be too short.
Hey Spencer, just stumbled onto your channel! Great to see young folks starting out on a farm. I've got a daughter and son-in-law that live up in Charles City and have always admired the Iowa farm land. Hope it goes well! Looking forward to more videos along the way.😊
Congrats on buying a farm! Good to see your dad helping out. Must have had a full recovery ❤️🩹 Farming is becoming a family business, good luck to you all!! 🤠
I’m digging this channel and I just found it keep the small farming content up there are lots of younger guys like myself wanting to get into this sort of stuff and having someone to learn with on the way would be nice
I absolutely love your voice over. And I love you shoutout Josie we love you. Oh Spencer how are you gonna transport your corn and beans if grant has the trucks 👀 And yes share the loan stuff I’m curious
Very glad to see your enthusiasm of getting into farming, but I would be looking at purchasing something like a 4640 for your second tractor rather than a 4020. Not bashing on you at all and am happy to see the togetherness of the Mann family, but you really need to look at upsizing your horse power for future gain.
The beginning farmer loan process would be awesome, you hear about them but never find out how to get started or what ducks you need to have in order as well, get it done so can hopefully get started on my, we appreciate it brother, and God bless your near farmland in Jesus name
You might want to wear some ear muffs if you value your hearing. Nice purchase though, I bet that old girl appreciated the TLC you have given it. I hope it treats you good as well.
Yeah I was struggling to get it into 8th gear. Eventually I figured out how to shift it constantly its just worn out and probably needs rebuilt. Slower was better pulling the disk as it swayed a lot and the front end is super loose from having the loader on for years.
@@spencerhilbert right ya range changes on those transmissions are bit harder .. without a heavy load starting off in 6th works well for roading As for the disc just use a chain and load binder between draw bolt and one outside corner trails nice then 😁 happy farming!
My 1966 4020 is a piece of crap. It barely turns over with both brand new batteries and jumped with a power pack and a pickup truck. When it does start, only runs for five minutes with black smoke then dies and I can’t get it started until I recharge the batteries. I’ve replaced everything on the fuel system, injectors, pre pump, filters, fresh fuel, blew all the lines, bled the whole thing. Only thing left is the injector pump, which I don’t know how to check. And it has a hell of a knock when it runs.

Yeah super nice of them to take time out of their spring to help me! Agree the loader has come in handy. I use it a lot more than I thought I would.
I added one to farming sim with a mod lol i was driving all the old stuff while friends on our server werent.

@MrCrazycook8 do you know the hp in this tractor?
engine tested at 84 hp at drawbar and tested at 91 hp at PTO@@pr4lviper
Those 4020s sound great with a straight pipe with the plow in the ground

Can't go wrong with a good ol 4020. Grew up on 4010/4020s 4430/4440 and some 856/1486 internationals all solid tractors that I love
Great job lots of inspiration for younger generations!!! 😊
You kept your money together. Really good deal on that Tractor. So many memories thanks for the video
4020 has to be one of the greatest tractors ever built
Nice setup. The 4020 is a great tractor
Nice purchase. Blessings on your new farm endeavors!

I like this content it reminds me of when I used to farm with my grandpa and my great grandpa back in the late 90s early 2000s
8500 for a clean 4020 ( with ) a loader, and just needing basic maintenance, you got a pretty fair deal.
Yeah I thought so. It has quite a bit of blow by as well though. Working totally good. Using it to bale hay this summer
I still use my 4010 but we put the 4020 eing in about 30 years ago on my farm , all I mainly use it for cut hay and moved wagon around
Nice old tractor

Pretty hard to go wrong with a 4020,if properly maintained and operated those tractors were super tough and reliable
You might want to wear some ear muffs if you value your hearing. Nice purchase though, I bet that old girl appreciated the TLC you have given it. I hope it treats you good as well.
Yeah I learned that quickly. Lights came in handy finishing up disking at night. No issues after 50 hours of running hard.
Nice💯💪🏻
Please more
those tractors were $6200 brand new in the 60's
You got a good deal
Tractors are way cooler than sports cars 😂
I would like to hear more about this beginner farmer loan.
I hope you go through the beginning farmer loan soon, cause that info id really appreciate knowing
Next video. Will be planting and going over the loan.
Fed AMERICA 🇺🇸!!! 💯
I need the levers that lift the front bucket. .one are broken off.
Be interested to hear about the new farmer loan process.
Next video I will have a segment showing the process and what I learned.
What is the difference in the tires?
Grew up on one of these 😊 have you found 8th gear yet lol couldn't help noticing you were driving in 7th on the road

Interesting. thanks for the tip. I will try that next time!
How many hours were on it when your purchased it?
4 bottom plow then disc?
Where you had the house burnt down, do you plan on putting your house there.
Them old JD disc arent the best cutting disc, more of a finish disc. You can adjust that disc angle to make it more aggressive
is it just me, but aren't you supposed to moldboard plow, or chisel plow first? Ya know break open the ground, before disc plowing?
Sorry I asked this also in another video, but can you tell me where you got your LED light kit?
Tiger lights.com
@@spencerhilbert Thanks so much
Does it have a turbo ?
Stock models don’t gave a turbo.
👍👌❤️🇨🇦

The disk is not working well enough bicous you need to plow the field first.
$8,500 for a 1966 tractor with 7,500 hours and has been overheated? That's a lot of money.
Car at 8:58
Dose your brother have videos , if so what’s the name?
This channel is awesome! Can’t wait for more videos
can you use this tractor for planting and harvesting too? or do you have to buy another $100,000 tractor etc
