By "commercial" he meant that you can't feel the passion. The game is just talked about alot because it has the 2 biggest clubs in Germany face eachother. It's all about revenue; television and selling merch and luring in tourists with the catch of having some huge teams and insanely skilled players.

You need to understand that in the 1990 and 1991, the war in former Yugoslavia started on the football fields even before it started on the actual fields and the streets. There are many documentaries which address this and talk about how football influenced the resistance and pride, especially in Croatia. This is why most of the fans there don't see it as "only a game" but much more.

The more 'commercial' ones are, as you said, so popular with big teams so the prices just went up into ridiculous territory. the popularity also atracts a ton of fair-weather fans that stick around when the club is performing but as soon as it starts to go slightly downhill they're nowhere to be seen.
And the long-standing supporters who really grew up with this intense rivalry (and hatred) between 2 clubs go under in the bigger crowds or can't afford the tickets anymore.

Derby is from the beginning a horse race term. But then people begun call fotball matches with a lot of spectators for "derby match" Bcs when two teams from the same city met, it was more spectators on those, and therefore we use to call this matches for derby matches. But it is in northern europe, in south europe and south america its more common to call them "clasico"

The origins may stem from the Earl of Derby (pronounced darby) in England. On one side of his very large estate there was the town of Wigan and on the other, St Helens. They each formed a rugby league club and played each other at Easter in what became known as the 'local derby'. St Helens Saints, still play Wigan Warriors in the Super League at Easter.
It was an earlier Earl of Derby (the 12th), that started the Epsom Derby horse race, the most famous flat race in the world (sorry Kentucky).

A lot of games were in second or even third division, and that’s why some of the tickets were probably around 5-10 euros. Regarding the traveling you have many cheap options combining train and airplanes, but it needs careful planning and buying tickets in time.

An other thing regarding ticket prices, for example in Germany they are reasonable and the club can’t increase them without club members agreement, which are the fans, because in Germany they have the 50+1 rule.

So, I will try to clarify but I hope to be able to express myself correctly and without errors. At least for us in Italy, a real derby is only one that is played between two teams from the same city. For example, there are currently only four real Italian derbies: Inter-Milan; Genoa-Sampdoria; Juventus-Turin and Rome-Lazio. Clear examples of this type of derby in Europe could be: Real Madrid-Atletico Madrid or Manchester City-Manchester United. After which, by extension and to increase the hype of a football match, other matches are also defined as derbies even if in reality the two clubs are from two different cities. So, at this point it may be the belonging to the same geographical area and the historical rivalry between the two clubs that ensures that the match is still defined as a derby despite being spurious. Italian examples are: Juventus-Inter defined: Northern Italy derby. Rome-Naples called Southern Derby; Or Parma-Bologna (Emilian Derby) or Verona-Vicenza (Veneto Derby) and obviously around Europe there will be a thousand other regional rivalries that I can't remember now. Finally, there is a rather improper use of the word derby which the press often abuses only to load the match with motivation and tension. This is the case of matches between teams that only have the nation they belong to in common but have strong historical reasons for rivalry. For example, they could be the two most successful teams in that country or they could be the two with the highest public following. Clear examples are Real Madrid-Barcelona (which, however, even before being defined as Derby, takes the name of "The classic"); Feyanord-Ajax Amsterdam as Dutch derby; Juventus-Napoli as Derby d'Italia, Liverpool-Manchester city; Bayer Munich-Borussia Dortmund etc.

Derbys often means that 2 clubs play against each other who are located in the same City (exampel: Hertha Berlin and Union Berlin, or Hamburg and st. Pauli.) Or they are located closes to each other (Nuermberg and Furth, or Köln and Gladbach/Leverkusen, or one of the most intese is Schalke vs Dortmund that is called the revir derby) Der Klassiker isn't realy a derby, but in this game 2 teams playing each other and they have a rivalie also they are the oldest Bundesliga club playing each other

A good Derby as he says it's about hatred between the sides not the quality of the teams, so the commercial ones as he says are very good teams, football clubs that developed into a big brand that generates enormous amount of money, so tickets go up, corporate tickets take over plus much more that drives that hatred away, a "good" Derby as he says is about hatred look at boca juniors vs River plate, people literally die almost every time

Brutal calling the Merseyside derby a tourist trap. Derbies are when a match is played between two clubs normally in one city. Taking the Merseyside derby, the two clubs, Liverpool and Everton are separated by a park. Manchester derbies, United versus city are either side of the city centre. London has normally has a few too as there are a lot of London teams in the top flight. In Italy the Milan derby Internationale versus ac, thry play in the same stadium, the crumbling San siro. Roma versus Lazio play at the same stadium too the stadio Olympico. Derbies seem to now be classed as two rival teams like for instance Liverpool versus Manchester United. 30 odd miles apart. So thry are trying to broaden the term but it is not traditional.

A derby, pronounced dar-bee probably refers to the city of Derby in England.
The Earl of Derby started a horse race in 1780 which became The Derby.
The Kentucky Derby is mispronounced. That also should be 'dar-bee'.
The hat that Americans refer to as a 'Derby' is an English named a Bowler. It's an American name for a British product but I guess you can call it what you want.

Also no one would call e.g. Bayern Dortmund (Der Klassiker) a derby, because the distance between the cities is too large and the rivalry is mostly a product of them being the two best teams for quite some time now. For the Niedersachsenderby, there's been hate between the cities for centuries. For other derbies it's not that historic, but for sure much more than in the Klassiker.
