Two weeks on the bounce now for Sale, shooting themselves in the foot but at the same time being on the receiving end of some woefully inconcistent officiating.
You can only award a penalty try if the actions prevent the try from being scored - if he had touched the ball on the line, rather than in field then the decision might well have been a penalty try - stupid, isn't it?
Can also award a penalty try if the try may have been scored in a more advantageous position which in this case it wouldn't have been. Like it or not the laws are what they are I guess, Pearce got it right
You clearly don't understand the rules, unlike the professional referee. You only get a penalty try if you are prevented from scoring due to an infringement that would have otherwise meant you would have scored. I think even here had Dugdale not scored he would have been awarded a penalty not a penalty try because the high tackle did not in and of itself stop the try. You don't get the try 'upgraded' to a penalty try because there was also a foul even though he scored. I like Luke Pearce, he gets the keyboards flowing

A player guilty of this must be cautioned and temporarily suspended or sent off. No conversion is attempted." - again I think LP got it right
