    It worked! I did what you say and turned the rubber to the other direction. Leak stopped!!
    Thank you!

    Thanks so much for this video! I was trying to find someone in Spain to fix my machine and even the Ascaso factory didn't respond (good machines but terrible customer service). Watched this video and managed to fix it myself. Really appreciate it :)

    Thank you for this video! I have successfully replaced the gasket on my Ascaso Uno PID, which was like the second machine in this video. As you mentioned could happen, the screw did get stuck in there. The solution was just to pull it out with pliers. Funny enough the most difficult part of the repair was to put that damn c-clip back on. To save anyone the trouble, here's my tip to put it back on. Flip the machine on it's side so that gravity works for you. With one hand push on the clip using 2 fingers, and with the other hand use a flat screw driver to pry open the c-clip. Push and pry, eventually it will go in! Cheap and easy repair!

      So true...the damn c clip was easy to get off but practically possible to get back on. Java Jim...dont skip putting the machine back together. This suggestion was helpful- to lay the machine on it's side to get the c clip back on, pry and push. Still took two of us and two pairs of needle nose pliers and screw driver. I also saw a video for another machine to back out the nut so that it was just behind the groove for the c clip...much less slipping around and wobbling of the c clip. Easy enough to tighten the nut after the c clip is in place. It was a VERY frustrating part of an easy fix with a new replacement part.

    I have the Ascaso UNO PID (made 6/2010) with the metal to metal steam (no rubber gasket) valve and it is leaking. I've cleaned the brass metal end but no luck. Where can I find parts to replace with a unit this old. Great video and I learned a lot!

    I snapped the fixing screw and it was stuck inside. I drilled a small hole in the center of the bit stuck inside, and was able to get it out by turning the drill bit while inside the broken bit b

    I have the valve and gasket shown at 9:00 on a Steel UNO PID. This is a Viton gasket, and they seem to compress quickly and become ineffective. I'm purposely gentle with all such valves, never needlessly tightening them beyond flow stoppage. I am not hard on my machine. All dealers I've asked about this want to replace the entire valve assembly it seats into. Only your video suggests the simplest solution! The gasket is 2 Euro, direct from Ascaso, but if you buy it yourself, the shipping and all sorts of other fees make it practically unfeasible to get a new gasket. I did that, so ordered 5. Anyway, I out one of the new ones in, and within a few months it was leaking like sieve again. This appears to be a poor design. My understanding is this Viton gasket is made for high heat, and food safe. But why should anyone need to replace it 3 times a year, when being used residentially maybe max 3 times a day, and not every day. Are we supposed to use any compounds around this gasket when seating it in? Any further recommendations? Thanks for this video.

      Other dealers want to replace the valve because it seems like a valve issue in your case, and not just a simple gasket change. It seems they were right if you had to replace the gasket three times in less than a year. Kudos to those dealers for making the right recommendation. Some things are just not as simple as everyone would desire.

      @@1st-lineequipment Thanks. What would you say is a common replacement interval for the Viton, for the amount of use I have? Wild guess, 5 years?

    • @1st-lineequipment
      @1st-lineequipment  5 років тому +1

      The amount of use varies from user to user, but if it starts to leak, that's probably a sign that it needs to be changed. Wouldn't be a bad idea to just have it on-hand/as part of a basic care and maintenance kit

      Our Basic V2 couldn't make coffee, because all the pressure would leak out the steam wand. I think we were over-tightening the steam valve. I opened it up and I found the I.3094 plug/gasket deformed. I reversed it, and it works now. I wish 1st-line sold it separately..Hint. Hint.. The whole PM.162 assembly is $80

    JavaJim your video's are great! I have this same issue, but with an ASCASO Dream PID! It's unlike any of the pumps in your video, seems to be all brass, and the same as in your video about a non-working pump with the red machine you have. Can you offer any instruction on which model to follow in the above video ? Also, if I need to replace the gasket on the tip of the knob-end, do you have a link or part number for the Dream PID ? I can't seem to find the part anywhere -

    Video helped a ton. Have to replace my steam valve on the dream now. Is there a thread sealant or loc-tight used? Seemed like a green material on the threads. I also noticed when I took the steamer off there are 3 red o-rings but I only see a spot for two of them 😬

    Helpful video! It looks like I have the type mentioned at 4:52. How do I take off the c-clip? It looks like it would break if I just tug at it.

      Any espresso machine can be tempermental. This is why cafes charge a lot for their beverages.

    I have an ascaso dream with the c clip, but after I’ve removed the c clip I still can’t remove the metal piece and now the brass is getting worn down by my pillers. Any tips?

    Where would I get the black gasket that you showed first? The one that prevents water from spewing from the steaming wand tip

      As the video states, there are many versions of the same machine. More than likely, we would be giving you the incorrect part. Please look at the label on your machine and best match it to the diagrams on our web site for the correct part, then look at the picture of the part to make sure it matches. This is really the best way because Ascaso, like many other manufacturers, do not give parts changes in the builds based on serial numbers. this is why the above procedure is best to locate the right part.

    Have you ever seen water or steam leaking from the group head when using the steam function?

    • @1st-lineequipment
      @1st-lineequipment  5 років тому

      Yes, this is normal on most Dreams, ARCs, and Basics espresso machines by Ascaso.
