I would certainly love a tour of your sweet potato farms to study how to automate aspects of planting, care and harvesting. Here is the Caribbean we do cultivate sweet potatoes but our operations are largely manual and labour intensive throughout.
Thanks for the question. The leaves and vines are turned back and worked into the soil once harvest is complete. It returns nutrients to the field for our rotation of crops the following growing season. Just one way we work to keep our fields healthy.
Hello, it is amazing factory! But you did not show the storage room. Is there any secret in the storage? I'm growing sweet potato in my garden, but my problem is to keep it fresh during winter. Can You give some advice?
Emil, thank you for taking the time to reach out. Sweet potatoes, like any storage crop, must be stored under well maintained and ideal conditions. Scott Farms uses some proprietary meathods to cure and store our products. But, a good rule of thumb, is to maintain 55-60 degrees fahrenheit after the curing process is complete. For more information, visit the NC Sweet Potato Commission's website at ncsweetpotatoes.com/sweet-potato-industry/growing-sweet-potatoes-in-north-carolina/curing-and-storing/ . Hope this helps and thank you again for reaching out.
Thank you for the question. No is the short answer. In North Carolina, the plants/vines are tilled into the soil after harvest. There is only one growing season in this region as the winters are too cool for multiple harvests from a single planting. We will begin planting again in the Spring with a new set of seed/plants.
Thanks for your answer. i really apreciate. by the way my name is JP, portuguese in Portugal. i'm a Farm Manager of 500 acres of sweet potatoes in the South of Portugal. whatcing your vídeo i can really understant what you doing and to be honest i have a tremendous way to run to achive your efficiency. there is any chance to talk with you by mail?
That is an excellent question. Our harvest begins roughly mid-August each year depending on the weather. We conclude in early November and have environmentally controlled storage to keep the product fresh for a full 12-months.
HELLO SIR/MAAM, I am currently working on my thesis, titled "Kasila: An Agricultural Research, Innovation and Processing Complex of Sweet Potato'' This study aims to explore innovative approaches to sweet potato farming and processing while integrating research and technology to enhance the value chain and support local communities. In line with this, I am kindly requesting data and information from your office that will support my research, including but not limited to the following: · Space Requirements for a sweet potato Innovation, Research, and Processing Complex. (floorplans, facilities, training rooms, etc.)
While this was a great video of a fantastic farm you misled me because I’m trying to find true “hand picked” sweet potato harvest videos and there is nothing about your operation that is hand picked other than manually removing the root from the potato. I have a small family farm and am harvesting my first crop this fall and we have to “hand pick” ours which is why I’m researching how other farms do it and I’m sorry, you have a wonderful operation and I’m proud of you for being able to get to where your at, but please don’t mislead us little guys like that please

Instead of paying 50+ H2A workers 13 an hour why don’t you just get a harvester like how they harvest potato’s in the Midwest

Where did anything mention "hand-picked?" UA-cam sent you here because there are not a lot of sweet potato videos. When can we expect to see yours?
How many acres of sweet potato do you grow I run a harvesting crew and can harvest your sweet potatos
