Nothing will ever be like this again, nobody in metal plays a guitar like that . The guitar tells more of a story than they lyrics. Pantera is it's own entity , I have heard many very talented bands do covers of their music and none of them do it much justice.Often imitated never duplicated, ever! Just a perfect storm of Southern Metal Badassery.
let me tell you it was worth it. I saw them in 2000 and everything was perfect, phil's vocals were extremely heavy and they played all the heaviest songs like Sucide #2, Use my third Arm, second half of 25 years, etc. Plenty of weed to be passed around too!
"It's time to change It can't stay the same Revolution is my name It will never change, So here it stays Forever is my name It's time to change, It can't stay the same Revolution is my name" yeah, it's time to change... What is my name? Revolution is my name... R.I.P. Dime.
Saw that same show in Seattle...Slayer killed it also! Saw them at Ozzfest too a couple years earlier, they ran from the dressing room at a sprint while intro music played, grabbed their instruments as the crowd was going ape shit and then proceeded to dominate Ozzfest - most energy I've ever seen.
At 1999 when I PanterA toured with Metallica in the Garage Inc.´s tour, and I was 7 years old I went to the concert in mexico city. The event was fuckin amazing (Anselmo came out to sing Creeping Death)even though I was just there to see metallica I remember perfectly some pantera´s songs (like cowboys from hell). Since that moment the Metal has been an essential part of my life.
It's always like this. Most people never pay attention to the bass players. Sad but true. Now back to topic. Phil Anselmo is a tragic hero in the Rock / Metal Scene... too bad it ended all like this :( Greetings from Germany
Several 300 watt Randall Warhead stacks with an assload of gain, custom speaker setups, a whammy pedal, and a really high output passive pickup in his guitar. If you mean the intro that's pinch harmonics while simultaneously using a whammy pedal. Dime was a pro with incredibly good tone, from a combination of incredible amps, his effects chain, and most importantly playing skill. Everything down to his guitars were customized to get the sound he wanted.
@turdonmylips Dude, same here. Only I bought Pantera's first album in 8th grade. I put the sucker in and I couldn't breathe when "Cowboys From Hell" started playing. Finally, the solo came by, and when it ended, I cried like a baby who's ass just smacked after coming out the womb. It was a magnificent smack to the ass.
Man, real still exsists in this fucking heart, Pantera never died for my part, they're still burning in my fucking heart, and I feel it every time I pick up my axe!!
because he used washburn till the end of pantera and also on some gigs with damageplan after that he was back with dean and he played a few gigs with dean guitars ...
the guys in slipknot are not assholes.. I'm friends w/most of them.. They are the most down-to-earth guys in rock. Very appreciative of their fans. If they come off as assholes, its part of the act, just like the masks and costumes
history is how it is. at least phil does something,to all the people who uncompromiseingly hate him. he couldnt of been sacrificed during there hayday/career, how you see it,and he brought something that was nessisary for the mix, as did they all. im not quick to blame him or even over time. they were men of the people and that means they will make mistakes...for me they were men of the people, so there would be mistakes, multiplied by being in the public eye. thx pantera for everything:)
Well it actually is a washburn he is playing. In the 80: s and early 90: s Dime used Deans but then he signed with washburn and played with them for almost the rest of his career. If you look closely you can see that the headstock says washburn, otherwise watch his back, it has the word WASHBURN printed on it in really big letters.
Vinnie's snare sounds like a canon. This is the epitome of heavy. I still haven't seen a band that touched Pantera's live shows.
A canon ! Seriously ??
Killed my ears
I'm a 'LONGTIME' Pantera fan! I've seen Pantera 3 times......I miss them SO much! Growing up with Pantera made me who I am today.Long Live DimeBag!!
Me too bro I saw them in 2000 for this tour slayer morbid angel and static x
I saw Pantera 5 times man I wish I could go back on time to experience it again with the brothers

let me tell you it was worth it. I saw them in 2000 and everything was perfect, phil's vocals were extremely heavy and they played all the heaviest songs like Sucide #2, Use my third Arm, second half of 25 years, etc. Plenty of weed to be passed around too!
I saw them live 2 months before they broke up at the New Haven Colosseum in 2001. Amazing show. Morbid Angel, Skrape, Static-X, Slayer and Pantera.
"It's time to change
It can't stay the same
Revolution is my name
It will never change, So here it stays
Forever is my name
It's time to change, It can't stay the same
Revolution is my name"
yeah, it's time to change... What is my name? Revolution is my name...

@turdonmylips Dude, same here. Only I bought Pantera's first album in 8th grade. I put the sucker in and I couldn't breathe when "Cowboys From Hell" started playing. I think Phil's live preformance was best in the first years, like CFH and into FBD but after that things changed.
Damn that riff is fuckin brutal just like all of Dime's material. I love it! RIP Dimebag.
its like dime just came in my ears!!!!!!!!!!!
You equate the sensation of listening to your favourite music to that of a man ejaculating into your ears and filling your canals with his semen?
i love the drums in this song*
