    How do you use the Balego NMES device for sciatica?

    • @dr.dennypatel
      @dr.dennypatel  Рік тому

      NMES is usually used to strengthen, not good for sciatica. TENS or IFC is better for sciatica.

    I was wondering how you like it and if it works for you? My doctor told me I should get one and he recommended this unit but I haven't really found anyone saying how they like it. Great video as well, if I get one I will know how to use it. Thank you.

      I think that TENS is valuable for pain control and can help for a sort period of time. Since it is temporary please consult with a health care provider to get to the root of your pain.

    Can this be used at low frequency 60hz on facial muscles ?

    • @dr.dennypatel
      @dr.dennypatel  Рік тому +1

      I would not use this on the face as it is too close to the carotid artery.

    does it create heat ? in the muscle ?

    • @dr.dennypatel
      @dr.dennypatel  Рік тому

      No there is no heat created. It temporarily blocks the pain via electrical current.

    What do the different frequencies and pulse widths do in practice (I know what they mean, but what does it accomplish)?

    • @dr.dennypatel
      @dr.dennypatel  Рік тому

      Thank you. The different parameters can be adjusted for Chronic Pain, Acute Pain, or Edema. Therefore, the PT will decide which parameters will have the most benefit and help educate you on which ones to use at home.

      @@dr.dennypatel I am wondering same. What does width do. And rate . Is width how deep it penetrate ?? Cause certain nerves are deeper??

    • @dr.dennypatel
      @dr.dennypatel  Рік тому +7

      TENS units can help with acute or chronic pain. The frequency or rate for acute pain is usually effective between 80 and 120 Hz. Chronic pain can benefit from lower settings 2 to 10Hz that stimulates an endorphin release. The width is how long the stimulation occurs. You can use from 150-200uS to pain relief. Muscle stimulation usually requires a longer width. Again these are just guidelines and each individual is different. TENS is also temporary as the relief usually subsides as soon as you take the unit off.

    If one pad feels stronger than the other try a new lead, those Everyway Medical leads supplied do seem to cause it 😅
