Samantha always says the exactly right thing! She's never over acts or sounds wooden. I know it's a script but she delivers it soooo perfectly! I miss her in our world. She's so beautiful.😫👸
I just love the lovely moments between Samantha and Darrin.🥰🥰❤❤🙏🏻🙏🏻 Elizabeth Montgomery and Dick York were intelligent people who made people feel happy.👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Huge welldone to both.🥰
Very sweet. But Ii agree with the others in that there are many more such scenes. I get you probably can't do all of them, but one of my favorites is in the episode where Samantha has the house cooperate with Darrin and Samantha tells Darrin (in the end) that she'd go anywhere he wantrd to go but his gift of flowers and a watch was the best gift she could ever want. She was crying as she said this and I cry too, no matter how many times I see it and I have seen it many, many times.
In those days screen kisses were never very sensuous. They didn't open their mouth. I think it was seen as improper and it wasn't long after the Hayes code of the 50s still, so all that kind of sexual expression was governed.
Nice. There are so many romantic scenes between Darrin and Samantha. There could be a part two, three, four, etc. Some suggestions would be at the births of Tabitha and Adam, the wonderful scene when Sam and Darrin meet in the park in EYE OF THE BEHOLDER. There are many other scenes throughout the series.
A lot of women did where heels while pregnant, in those days especially, but pretty common right up into the 80s. And in response to "Happy," No she was not faking her pregnancy. She was pregnant 3x during the show's run. The first time was right when the show started and they did her scenes prior to her showing, or saved her scenes for last, after she finally gave birth, i honestly can't remember exactly if her scenes were filmed before or after, but it was one of those. The other two pregnancies were written into the show. So her second pregnancy ended up being Tabitha on the show, and her third pregnancy ended up being Darren and Samantha's little boy on the show.
@@02chevyguy Liz's first child was William Asher (not a Jr. There's an interview with him on YT. He's a master guitar luthier and does excellent work). Her second son, Robert (he is a Jr) and Liz was pregnant him during season two and became Tabitha on the show. Liz's third child, Rebecca, was born during the sixth season, in 1969 on Erin Murphy's birthday, June 17th, and became Adam on the show. They had to hide Liz's first pregnany because Sam Darrin had just gotten married and that would've caused a problem, if they had a child within the first season. I understand she filmed her scenes around her pregnancy, her normal workload of new scripts after the pregnancy. She said once that it was exhausting.
I was going to say the episode where she becomes invisible after their argument definitely comes to mind as one of the most romantic scenes. I thought the one in the 8th season with Dick Sargeant would've been used, but you chose the earlier version with Dick York. 👌
9:47: If I were Sam, I'd have told Darrin first to calm down and then ask the question. That's one of the eveokutions in Elizabeth's character over the years. That doesn't say she wouldn't get into Darrin's face if she had to, but Sam was the mediator between her family and Darrin and she also had a calming influence on Darrin in later seasons. It might be called "marital maturity".
She used her own personal spiritual powers, so how does that make Samantha a witch? She never did any spells and rituals. Samantha seemed more like a goddess than a witch.
Your version of what a witch is certainly deviated from the writers version. You apparently didn't see very many of episodes of her casting spells though that wasn't how she had to do it.
It's amazing the stereotypes that still exists in 2021. Gay people can't love a woman or a man, depending on their gendor. I guess they can't love their parents. What's the old saying, don't judge a person until one walks in that person's shoes? Let me also suggest thoee who are anti-Sargent, look for Elizabeth Montgomery's comments on Dick Sargent. She had one word to describe him, "Terrific!" She loved him as a friend and he loved and respected her. When she heard that Sargent had died, Elizabeth said that she was going to miss his love and courage. I can give examples of scenes of affection throughout Dick Sargent's three years on the show starting with the first episode of season six. Watch the end of that episode when Darrin kisses Sam and then she leans into him and puts her head on his shoulder while he puts his arms around her. Watch how they kiss in ...AND SOMETHING MAKES FOUR. Watch the wonderful scene when Darrin goes and visits Sam the following day after Adam's birth. The love expressed between them is beautiful. I could go on, MONY SAMMY, the last scene in OKAY, WHO'S THE WISE WITCH? where Sam sends Esmeralda to Jupiter. She kisses him and he puts his arms around her and they then hug. There's more. Finally, one of Dick Sargent's biggest supporters was Dick York. He recognized the tough situation Sargent was in. The situation was tougher when Agnus Moorehead made a cutting remark during the first reading of episode six, which basically an insult to Sargent for replacing York. Liz blew her cool. She didn't like people being mistreated. Well, Moorehead apologized in front of everybody. She finally let it go in season eight. It hurt Sargent but, they became friends. Oh, the ratings. They dipped but, to the surprise of the producers, they recovered and the series was renewed for a ninth season. The Salem Saga is some of the most popular episodes of all eight years as is SISTERS AT YEART. So, before someone is ripped, try to find out about them. I think people will find most are nice people, just tryingbto make a living.
That proposal was not sweet! I would not call that a happy or loving proposal by any stretch. I do love the show, but always hated how mean, biased, and unaccepting of Samantha Darren really was. And how he tried to restrict Tabitha from being the complete person she could've been. That girl would've had a real identity crisis when she got older! After all, she is half mortal and half witch! Thank goodness for her grandmother stepping in to teach her her roots. Like, i get it's just a show, but I always thought of Samantha and Tabitha's witch side like a different race or culture, when you put it in that perspective you can really see Darren for all he's worth, or not worth. He's restrictive, demeaning, inconsiderate, biggoted, and not open . I can understand not wanting to over indulge in the easy life witchcraft could supply, but there are limits to even this. And Darren's sense of normalcy is not Samantha's... why couldnt he ever take the time to recognize this, consider it, and respect it? And as intelligent as Samantha is, i couldn't understand why she blindly accepted this behavior of his. If this scenario were real, I doubt Samantha would have truly put up with or accepted it. Especially when it came to Tabitha. I think they wouldve been considering divorce by the time Tabitha's first or second year rolled around. I get its the show's premise and kept the comedy going, and i know I'm looking at it too seriously, but these are the thoughts that come to mind... i can't help it, and i just felt like i had to share as much. I wonder if anyone else ever thinks these thoughts about this show and Darren's behavior in particular.
You are correct. However, do remember it was Samantha's choice to live as a mortal. If had been strictly adhered to it would have caused problems. she did continue to use her powers on a limited basis.
Bigotry cuts both ways. Endora and Maurice look at Darrin in the same way a conservative, rich, white family would look at their son in law if said son in law was a lower class person of color (you conveniently leave out that Endora and Maurice like to emphasize that Darrin was a lowly mortal and that Samantha should have married a warlock of good heritage and standing- their people). Darrin had nothing against witches, only magic. Going back to my example, magic to Darrin would be the equivalent of old, rich, white, conservative, money (or what the wife inherits from the family who looks down on him). It gives him a crippling sense of inadequacy. He already feels that Sam married down because of how they both look, his sense of security comes in him being able to provide for her in the mortal world because of a good job. The fact that he knows that magic could give Sam a better life than he could scares him, which is why he insists that he and Sam do things the "normal way". The best example of this is in the episode where its their anniversary when Darrin bought flowers and a watch for Sam, but feeling that it wasn't enough.
It was a very popular and unfortunate theme of the 50-70s for the man's ego to be the most important thing. I remember many, many television shows where women would talk about how they have to kowtow to the man because his ego needs it so badly. It was rather disgusting. But also, there needs to be an ever-present threat to their relationship in order to have material to write about. I always like to think that people did the best they could with what they understood at the time.
That's not Darrin's "real" proposal- that's at the end of season 2's "What Every Young Man Should Know" where Endora sends them back in time to see if Darrin still would've married Samantha if he knew she was a witch first (and that Endora would torture him with spells first). That's why he's angry. It was Samantha's choice to live as a mortal before she met Darrin- and she didn't tell him she was a witch until after they were already married (and she didn't tell him that her family would never accept him).
I love the chemistry between Elizabeth Montgomery & Dick York.
I Do Too

Season 1 ("A Is For Aardvark")
there are scenes that make me cry too and l have seen many , many times... theyre magical ,,,
With Endora literally popping in without warning.
How did Sam and Darrin manage to even become parents, not once, but twice?
They kiss like their lips are glued together.
In those days screen kisses were never very sensuous. They didn't open their mouth. I think it was seen as improper and it wasn't long after the Hayes code of the 50s still, so all that kind of sexual expression was governed.
They really made a sweet. dear couple.
Thank you sweety for the Video.
nice episides

Oh my goodness, yes! That would be so delightful!
I always found it amazing when Liz was expecting her second baby, she always wore high heels ('65-'66)
It wasn't really a baby, she was faking it.

Lucky Elizabeth Montgomery. She had two good looking TV husbands.
This is a little like ‘Bell Book and Candle’. But not quite.
She used her own personal spiritual powers, so how does that make Samantha a witch? She never did any spells and rituals. Samantha seemed more like a goddess than a witch.

In reality Liz couldn't stand Dick York.
