Thank you so much Sir! Back in 70's living in Siberia behind the iron curtain I couldn't even imagine that at some point in the future I would receive such an acknowledgement from one of my heroes! And your Russian pronunciation is pretty good actually. 👍🙂
Top notch. I discovered you about a year ago and spread the word. I even had tickets to see the band in NYC on 23rd Street until The Virus struck and there went that. Thanks for a year of great music. My favorite piece of yours is "Street Player".
I must be your biggestr fan here in New Zealand, what can I do to get you all down here, Love to link to you on facebook, fellow musician who loves what you are doing regards H
Hello from Malta! You guys are HOT!! Brilliantly played. I been listening to Deep Purple (and other rock bands) since I was 8 years old (thanks to my older brother)., so I know when a Deep Purple song sounds well. Keep it up guys, you have many new followers now!
You, guys have done a marvellous job! I can imagine how uplifting it is to receive such comments from the master himself. Well deserved. To Igor and all of you best of luck.
The great Paicey, listening to these cover bands, realizes once again how many great, immense and immortal masterpieces they have donated to the history of Rock!
Being from Russia, I am very proud to hear such a tremendous verse of the masterpiece called "Stormbringer". You guys kick ass!!! Maestro Ian Paice - thanks for your appreciation! Спасибо ребята!!! \m/
Wow 👏👏 never imagined someone singing like DC and playing like RB .. the same RB tone. Great !! The whole band sound like the original track .. those bass and drum lines !!
Fantastic cover of a fantastic song. Ian Paice did an amazing job in the original version (all the band did), and the cover band is great. Stormbringer is one of my favorites of all time. Thank You all for this masterpiece!
It is not surprising to me that the great musicians Leonid & Friends decided to collaborate with other great musicians - the Pozdnyakov brothers (Братья Поздняковы - Alexander Pozdnyakov, Nikita Pozdnyakov), whose work I have been following for many years and never cease to be surprised. The attraction of talents, who in this case were united by the music of the legendary Deep Purple, gave an impressive result! Thanks!
Leonid & Friends is a great tribute band especially known for their extensive Chicago cover music. The band Chicago has them on their web site and says that they play Chicago music better than Chicago does. The drummer Igor, is rated as one of the best drummers in Russia. I personally have been in touch with Igor who has offered some coaching lessons via Skype in turn that I will help him with speaking English and he will teach me some Russian words. Now that's a great deal !!
@UCiwPzrwvL8QEuM9xJMPvs5w As a former professional musician (percussionist) all of the members of this band are "Next Level" musicians and the composition and arrangements done by Leonid are extraordinary. Even the members of Chicago agree with this.
Igor is great! So many people comment about his talent. If you look, you can find a clip of an interview of Igor and Danny S. of Chicago. At the end, they smile and put their arms across each other's shoulders....the universal language of expert drumming unites them....
@@davidputterman2719 saying that. They still are no chicago. I've seen old clips of them with terry Kath and they were something. Wished I seen them back then
Beautiful seeing younger guys getting off on such classic music and playing it so brilliantly. Ian’s reactions are beautiful. There’s no excess demonstration, only clear appreciation of the very key moments.
FLIPPIN HECK!!! All My emotions were running on full tilt watching this! That was really something else. The passion and drive, the chemistry and devotion. It's all there in this performance from Leonid Vorobyev. The guitar tones, attention to detail is incredible. And its all been worth it having Ian Paice acknowledge your performance. Really thoroughly enjoyed this! I'm going to go now...and smoke a cigarette.
If you have enjoyed Leonid & Friends’ performance of “Stormbringer”, you should hear them perform music from the band Chicago! The amazing thing (in addition to their musicianship) is the fact that Leonid hand-transcribes all of the music by listening to the original recordings. So much talent there!
I've watched/listened to a few of these. I like the fact he uses ducking process during narration, professional, haven't seen it anywhere else on YT. Also he is honest in his critique but not unnecessarily brutal. My eldest bro. and his friends are 10 yrs. my senior so I have been listening to high quality music such as that of DEEP PURPLE since I was 3yo. (now 55) and yes I have memory of it. Go DP, one of my favorites. RIP JON LORD RIP TOMMY BOLIN. 🙂✌❤
Thank you Ian for having created this Music and thank you to this amazing guys for having honoured it with their skills and passion, it would REALLY great if all the original members of the legendary bands like DP would choose a band to tour with their official brand name the day the they will not be anymore on this dimension.
Create is harder than covering but... once you grow up with your life soundtrack, and one day you play those songs... thats happiness too. Love you guys!
These guys are so amazing!! It would be very great if Leonid & Friends and the Pozdnyakov brothers will be performing on stage together with Deep Purple at their May 2021 concert in Russia! I am dreaming about it! I think, that It will be very powerful, bright and unforgettable!
Отличная идея. Целиком и полностью поддерживаю! Ребята достойны быть на этом событии! That's a great idea. I fully support you! The guys deserve to be at this event!
Those guys are simply spectacular! I've seen and heard many renditions of this song and this one is the closer it gets, in tone, sound, feeling, to the original: it gives you the chills. And what a voice has that - also excellent - guitarist! I'm going to check them out right now.

The thing that hits me most was how well they copy Ritchies guitar. He is not an easy guitarist to copy. His articulation, vibrato and mindset is so personal so they did that well. Overall one of the best covers of that song i've heard, probably because they tried to copy the original as much as possible. Only minus is the lack of long hair ;)
Great point TL - recently listened to the superb Joe Bonamassa playing 'Burn' and he just didn't get the sound and it wasn't for want of effort or skill. He's from a blues framework, whilst Richie really comes from a more classical direction, though he can also play gorgeous blues. Richie must be one of the most versatile players despite having a very distinctive sound. Ok, I am a bit of a fan.
@@sinclairwhitbourne2090 I agree. Ritchie is a hard musician to copy. He does a lot of small things to make the strings sing in a special way. I have done my own attempts if you check my channel :) Ritchie is not a "flat player", as I call them, running scales up and down the fretboard. He is not the fastest or most advanced in that way. But, he is very advanced when it comes to the subtle technique that you never think of, like he has a zipcode for every note. A strat doesn't sound good by itself, his sound is so good because he use his technique to make it sound good. Very articulate guitarist. As you said, he has his inspiration in the classical, especially in the medieval music.. He he well i'm a fan too :)
The guitars and vocals were spot on.Don't think anyone could do better covering this.Bass, keyboards and drums were really good too, although I could understand Mr.Paice trying to verbally prod the drummer a couple times.
