  • John looks at the 2 position boot floor in the XK8 XKR X100 jaguars and also identified the location of the Ariel that the key fob remote transmitters talk to. we also see the electrical systems last line of defense. 250 and in effect 500 amp fuses! If you blow them you had better investigate!

When I bought my XK, the dealer never showed me the boot expansion on the handover presentation.
The moment I realized it by myself it felt like : Wow girl...what else r u hidding ?
Nice one John. Brought back a nice memory !
    Cheers.

John, you are the best. My 2005 XK8 is the best car I've ever owned. If you have my XK8 Bible off of the Jaguar Forum you know that a lot of the things you cover are in there.

I Have a hard copy in my desk drawer and browse it regularly Gary. It has often inspired a train of thought that led to a video. Thanks Gary.

Well I never knew about the boot floor. To be fair, I’ve only had my 97 convertible 10 years!! Cheers John

Actually, if you have a full sized spare and staggered wheels, you have a 50% chance of having the correct wheel. 😜
Another very good video which is much appreciated in spite of my goofy comment. 😆

Hi It was extremely helpful to read your secrets, I have recently bought an XK8 8V/4li 1998,
the trunk lights were not working,
    1. Where is the fuse located?
    2. Where can I get a trank FUSE LID MAP, unfortunately, mine hasn't got a map?
    Much appreciate
    Jeremy Nicholas

Looking at your boot. You have a cover plate over the petrol tank is that standard...as mine doesnt have one...

    • @ToTheGarage

Hi David. The vertical plate behind the carpet/trim? Yes thats standard. It stops loose items in the boot from puncturing the tank in an impact , or other violent deceleration.

Hi John, finally caught up on your vids after a bit of a holiday. Can you help? My battery goes flat after about 8 days, I have a few things plugged into the cigar lighter, will this drain it even when the ignition is off. I'm charging it now and have disconnected the battery. Anyway as you say a video says more than a thousand words, so perhaps add an episode on charging to your lengthening video to do list! Cheers Tony

Hello Tony. If I may answer to your question mate.
Yes the lighter on the Jags is still active even if the switch is off .
Hence whatever you placed there is draining your battery.
The only thing I've placed on my lighter is the small solar charger which is keeping the battery in a good level .
Remember, even though the car is not working battery supplies the clock on the dash, as well all the security modules...
Another thing which I did on my car and helped a lot is replacing the old type battery with the new type ( AGM- the one that all the cars with START/STOP button equipped ) . Has a life expectancy of approximately 6-7 years with not much of use, and accepts more charges if it's about to dry out at some point...
      You should try it...
      Cheers.

Nicholas Nikitakis oh dear. Thanks Nicholas. I’ve got a smart charger on the case trying to repair the battery as although the ignition lit up the dash it’s reading 0% Any ideas?

02 xk100 although only puts out 11 volts
I assume it should put out more, like 12+
After ajump start is when this all started
Charged batt to 12+ and started it and it drops to 11 again. What could this be a
Faulty alt or a bad batt? Tom

    • @ToTheGarage
      @ToTheGarage  Рік тому

Sounds like either a bad alternator or a bad earth lead.

Would a jump start have killed my alt
And stop the radio from turning on?
