- Life can be rewarding but it's not always easy. We moved to the Countryside as a family of 3 to live a more peaceful and slower paced way. Along the way we have found who we are and what makes us happy.
In this Episode Adam make's one of his biggest dreams a reality... to grow, harvest and produce his own Chili Sauce. Jane harvests vegetables from the garden and produces a simply delicious meal for dinner. We travel to see Jane's parents for a very important day..

This is a perfect place to live for me. Quite, Nature all around away from noise..
Very nice setting; left the Philippines @ age 11 along with my older sibling; returned after 33 years in the U.S. With 25 years of military pension; life is well in the province and occasional travels to different islands; now in Bohol enjoy the white sand beach; all the best everyone; God is good! ❤🎉😊
I stumbled upon this because I'm also living and loving the provincial life. I was born and raised in the city and left its comfort and convenience for a more quiet and peaceful life infront of the beach. I just wake up feeling grateful and blessed all the time

Grew up sa bukid and now in CA also. Meron kaming mga manok, rabbits and quails dito sa CA. Medyo mahirap minsan kasi busy sa day job at daming bills. 😊

I really like to live a simple life with having a garden vegetables.
It really is the best kind of life for us my friend. Less stress and you feel like you are really connected with nature. We like to go out, travel etc. but feel happiest at home doing things like this. God bless you guys 😊
I cannot wait till May. I will be in Ormoc and Calubian, with family. Maybe one of these times we can meet up at a restaurant for a cup of coffee. I will be retiring in Ormoc/Calubian in ten years. Nothing like produce from your own garden for healthy living..I thought I saw a USA shirt somewhere..all the little facets of lovely days enjoyed..the aerial shows a very nice locale you’re in, wouldn’t mind being in the same area but a little ways away so you wouldn’t have to suffer the violin and piano practice 😱🙏🏻

Thank you my friend. Jane knows what she is doing. Both are good to do. Yes, you can eat pumpkin skin. It is not only safe to consume but also nutritious. Pumpkin skin is rich in fibre and contains various vitamins and minerals, making it a healthy addition to your diet. Have a great weekend 😊

I suggest trying to cook papaya leaves like laing. It's also good in salad. Just blanch it 1st for 10 minutes and squeeze out the water.

Guava is one of my fav fruits. Shoulda gave it at least three more days. As close to yellow (ripe) color as possible but not too ripe.
Your guava was dry because it wasn’t mature enough 😂. I eat them when they start turning yellow. Congratulation for your garden.

My always stoppec us from eating the seeds. She said it would make us constipated and we couldn't eat them unless the skin was yellow😊.

No matter where I live stress always following me
I maybe have to learned to understand that wherever you go there are always people out there to test you, coming from abroad taking holiday in the province, everyone thinks that you are rich because you are earning dollars it's per hour over there not per day or month.
So everything they tried to scam you . All of a sudden prices triple.
That's the only thing am disappointed.
Not everyone from abroad are all rich or have plenty of money
You are right my friend and it’s something that does happen. Whether it’s fair or not everyone will have an opinion. We choose to buy from people who are fair and likewise will give more to those who are good to everyone. Always do what you feel is right and how you would want to be treated if things were in reverse. God bless you 😊

She is always hungry but always has food too 😊
After 15 years living and working in se-asia i can say that living in rural areas is good and calm until u discovers that its nothing to do, that u are kind of isolated from the locals only with your wife and her family to talk to and u start to miss living a life where people don't go to bed with sundown and get up with sunrise.
seen so many expats in se-asia gives it up after some years. Walking away from house and family or just go crazy alcoholics or worse
We aren’t isolated my friend as we have a great community here. Lots of friendly people and a couple of expats moving into their houses in the coming years nearby. Living in an isolated area depends on the person. We absolutely could do it with no problem. Would never get bored as we love to do things for ourselves rather than need social groups to feel happy and content. Everyone is different.
Also I’d add that learning the languages and not isolating from others helps a lot my friend 😊

I understand the poster’s points, & I’m not really agreeing or disagreeing, these are just my thoughts that arose reading his/her comment: he or she certainly observed what happened with those other expats. But I agree with Adam, I think that had less to do with being expats as with the inner nature of those people. Dissatisfaction, restlessness, addiction, or on other side, simply changing & realizing one wants something different after time, could occur for any person even a Phil native. Insight/knowing one’s self is a mark of maturity (not age necessarily) & wisdom, & it is not always present in everyone despite how successful or intelligent they are. I personally think wisdom is earned yes, but also a gift from God. & we don’t all receive the same gifts or to the same extent! I would definitely put my self in category of,D’oh! Why did I think I would be happy or it would be best there?! re: many aspects in my life. I do not think myself super wise. A bit wiser now. & as Adam hints, happiness is always a choice too, but sometimes some of us can get in scrapes being impulsive. Adam & Jane did not choose in that manner. They were very thoughtful & deliberate, & they know their priorities & goals & themselves. That’s my observation anyways. The comment of the poster is excellent to me coz it brings up so many more thoughts I wud luv to write them all but I will spare y’all! I’ll end with something a good friend now deceased told me long long ago, before I met my husband, when I was lonely. (Though I think loneliness may occur within relationships, too, anytime in life…). We have never encountered anyone eating dogs or selling dog meat here my friend. If they do then it’s not common and certainly not a normal practice. It’s illegal to harm or kill dogs here without due cause. God bless you 😊
