Thanks for making this video! A really useful refresher for tomorrow's exam! What my views on the poem: Personally, i think the repetition of "judge" is a reference to the parable of the sheep and goats and judgement day. The fire imagery in stanza 5 is a reference to purgatory-perhaps the man's heart is also being refined like her heart. God judges both the man and woman and chooses the woman for her purity. For me, the fact that "Oh my love" is in brackets might show she is ashamed of her earthly love, while, because "Oh my God" is not in brackets, shows she is not ashamed of being devoted to God, pouring her heart into her religion. Could we link all the references to the "singing-bird" and "singing" to "A Birthday"?
I don't know that poem - I'll have a look. My next video needs to be 'Goblin Market' as I've promised my students and it's long overdue, but I'll check out 'About a Sketch' too.
