Guess what? The secret’s out, church planting is fun!
Pastor Chad Veach, the lead pastor of ZOE Church, gives a healthy dose of positive encouragement to builders of the local church in his VOUS Conference 2019 breakout session ”Confessions of a Church Planter.”
Church planters need to know that the planting will be much easier than expected. And that is because Jesus is behind every good thing they will come across. God will produce the miracles, provide the resources, and prepare the people for the local church since it is his own and he is responsible.
So, count on success, church planters. Step out in faith and boldly obey the call to build knowing that God backs your unique assignment in bringing the broken home.

I was brought here after listening to Paul Washer on church planting. Wow, this is exactly what he was warning about. =(

This was an unbelievably, down to earth, relevant, encouraging and raw confession! Loved every minute of it! If you want to plant a church or already have: LISTEN TO THE WHOLE THING.

What in the world...this is literally like the most outrageous and unbiblical talk about church planting I think I've ever heard.
Things are going to be easy because Jesus is doing it? What about picking up your cross with it's splinters every day? The persecution that Jesus promises will come? What about getting stoned like Paul? What about cities trying to throw you out because you're turning it upside down? What about through many trials and tribulations you will enter the kingdom?
I'm actually blown away. I've heard about unbiblical talks likes this but I never experienced it 😳
God please give me grace for this brother, any way I error please show me, and any way this brother has gone astray please show him.

This is how church planting for lukewarm Christians look and sound like. It's easy to plant a church with compromises. The stuff you're talking about? The persecutions? The crosses? The tribulations? These are only for churches and pastors that are not willing to compromise and will hold fast the truth of the Word of God. There is only one God, and Jesus Christ is His name! Obey ACTS 2:38!

Thanks. There are lessons I can take from that. However, this is unfortunately not my confession and I don't see it with the early church either. Perhaps, it's important to first compare our definitions of what church is and what the Gospel is; our theological goal could also be quite different... If church is mostly just a social organization whose values are not necessarily countercultural, then it can be said to be this easy. If however, we're part of God's transformative work of the true biblical Gospel, which is certainly antagonistic to most contemporary values anywhere on earth, not least the US... I expected to hear much more from the angle of spiritual formation and warfare that is necessary for disciple making. The book of Acts and the Epistles present a rather different picture, on one hand great glories and joys, but on the other hand great challenges and odds to overcome. Or is there a rare revival or windfall happening in the US?

Listen, this church planting thing “sounds” great. The issue for me is, the focus seems to be all about planting. But, what about the person. Meaning, the two church plants I have been to is very high level, seems very “seeker friendly”. There is very little depth, no true teaching the very critical need to know the Holy Spirit, the criticality of allowing the Holy Spirit in your life etc. In other words, I did not feel fed at these church plants, compared to Transformation Church (pastor Mike Todd). This just feels more like a business, then about Gods mission.
