6:43 Ngl, I love it when kids are allowed to continue voice-acting a character as their changing voice really does add to the childhood experience they're representing. For shows that actually involve characters that age like Adventure Time, it's authentic to see their voices evolve. Compare that to The Amazing World Of Gumball that recycles the child actors when they start to hit puberty, or The Simpsons with adults in the sound booth that will never change their line deliveries. All three of these are successful tactics for voicing children in animated shows but I just generally prefer the Clarence way
I loved Clarence. Seriously underrated show. There’s an episode where he’s in the backseat of the car imagining himself running along the powerlines and stuff. And i was like “Oh damn.. i used to do that as a kid.” Although i imagined Sonic the Hedgehog running and jumping over everything. Still it was super relatable and nostalgic. It disappointed me that when i would ask people if they watched it they would say they didn’t even give it a chance or just assumed it was bad. I wish Clarence had a longer run, but it had a decent life span.
Clarence is quite underrated. I appreciate that each of the characters are different in terms of looks, personality etc. What I think a lot don’t appreciate is what you stated the surrealism in reality that is fascinating in our growing years. Time slows down during those moments of discovery. There’s actually a theory of perception where our perception of time speeds up when we have a set routine such as when we become adults. When you’re a kid every day seems to last forever because you’re always doing something different to explore more. The key to getting the most out of your time on earth is not to extend it persay, but to embrace all that life has to offer. Notice the slight change in colors of the leaves, the caterpillar climbing a blade of grass, the ripples in the water etc. Clarence gives perspective to absorbing as much as you can during childhood and maybe is how you can continue to do so while you’re an adult if you see how Clarence influences the adults in his life.
Goddamn I really love your insightful take on this! I must thank you for also giving me new perspectives about growing up and time. I'd also like to add that the character designs in Clarence are great, since each character looks unique and different
@@martinaelyse9152 thanks for being a fellow Yorozuya! Gintama is my all time favorite series. Gave me lots of perspective. Gintoki gave me so many new perspectives and I now appreciate when other series do the same in different ways. Dondake!!!!
Except it was kinda off-putting to me how plain it was, i didn't like Clarence as a character because he is kinda stupid. In one episode he saw his teacher eating in a restaurant which confused him because he thought she was a robot. Clarence man did you not know what a job is? She has a life outside of work and yet nobody thought to teach him about that.
Clarence is criminally underated. It has fun characters, and was one of the only shows to truly capture the innocence of childhood in a way that was both weird, unusual, and yet brilliant.
@@toughfizz7313 BRO I MEANT TO SAY « couldn’t agree more with you » I didn’t check the mistake of my comment, I love Clarence, it’s a goat and W show !!!! 😭😭😭 (Alongside with Uncle Grandpa too)
the “inconsistency was consistency” thing was absolutely amazing in this show. I remember watching it when i was younger, and just this last month my friends and I got together to watch it in it’s entirety because i told them how good it was. The inconsistencies of the characters made our friend group all sort of gravitate to different characters and who they liked more, and it just made it that much more enjoyable to watch. we finished it tonight and it was a sad moment for sure, but an amazing time while watching !
i've seen it as Clarence walked so Craig of the Creek could run when it comes to really honing in on how to portray a realistic childhood that can make it nostalgic for adult viewers while still being a cartoon that can get silly and weird when it shows how the kids view the world. i didn't watch this one religiously but i'm in the same boat of catching it whenever it was on and thinking it was pretty fun
My spouse and I are in our late 20s, and we were in college while this show was airing... and it's one of my spouse's favorite shows ever. It has that weird absurdist energy that isn't often replicated. My spouse grew up on Homestar Runner, and said this is 2nd closest to scratching that same itch. It is such a fascinating, life-like but yet sensational look at childhood, and it's just all around amazing. As much as we would've loved Clarence continuing for years, I agree that there gets a point where you just know "it's time" and it's better to end with a flourish than with a whimper.
I loved the simplicity of this show and how it just showcased the craziness being a child brought. Also the ending theme was so funny and it tbh cathartic
My fav scene is when Clarence pretends to be a busy adult with all of these ringing phones around him and he picks one up and goes "I NEED THREE DIVORCES BY LAST TUESDAY!"
This was a fantastic show...aside from a few episodes that went supernatural for some reason. I was VERY impressed with all the character development that just kind of happened naturally in the background. Like, they spent A LOT of time hinting that Jeff was near-sighted before actually dropping it, and that working teen gradually gets more disfigured as the series goes along. Also, Ms. Baker is a top-shelf waifu.
I really liked Clarence as an animated series because it felt like an old 90's cartoon and made you go back to those days when we were kids. It was heart warming sometimes, very weird other times but I loved that mood so much. Some characters were amazing and reminded me of some kids I met as a kid 😂
Clarence was one of those shows that has both traumatized me and also helped me sleep. (that damn deviled egg episode, holy shit). I could actually feel some odd nostalgia from everyone's side. (Everyone being the kid characters like Jeff and Clarence). Sumo I could relate to because of my mom, who's mostly lived paycheck to paycheck, never really having a job, though. She used to live in this weird rundown neighbourhood with a tightknit community. Jeff reminds me of the home that I have with my dad, who's not like the exact opposite of my mom's, but it's still higher living. Although Clarence on the other hand is more true to my roots on both sides. The modest living where the parents still love as wholly as they can despite any struggles they'd be experiencing. Although Clarence has some REALLY freaky stuff in it, I can't help but get an awesome feeling of nostalgia from it.
Clarence is such a vibe! It came out when I was in high school so I didn’t have much interest in tuning in to the new cartoons that I didn’t grow up on. I stumbled upon it at the end of last year and binged the whole series! Clarence is the sweetest character! I think what I love most about this show is it’s ability to make you feel a sense of nostalgia, even if you didn’t grow up watching it as a kid based on the way, it captures the fun and innocence of being a child. You feel like you’re along for the ride on all these crazy adventures with these kids, and it really takes me back to my own carefree childhood. P.S. Percy is a lunatic and I love him 😂
I loved this show! I can’t believe how funny it is and manages to be heartwarming too. I’ll never forget how hard I laughed when Clarence ran into a mountain lion that escaped from the zoo and he says “oh no!” And the screen fades to black. Then it fades in from black and he says “oh no!” the exact same way, as if this were a movie for tv fading to black for a commercial but this episode is 11 minutes long and has no commercial… like this show has 1 million jokes like that where I can overexplain them but you just had to be there in the moment to get it. The writers really hd a blast making this show. Like you said it really nails the feeling of being a kid in ways other shows haven’t been able to nail. Highly recommend this show.
This show is so good at making you feel for these goofy characters. Little Buddy, Dream Boat, Worm Bin, and tons of more episodes are surprisingly beautiful and I just love this show so much
I remember watching Clarence, but I was never crazy about the show. I only watched it from 2018 to 2019. It’s nice to see that the show still lives up to it’s reputation.
Apparently one of my brother’s teachers had a son who did story boards for Clarence. The teacher also thought that show was really stupid. Clarence was a show I watched growing up and I’ve always loved how they depicted kids as kids
I first didn't appreciated this so that much when i was younger but when i watched it on HBO Max a while back it open my mind how those characters are actually characters and not some copy and paste generic characterization, they gave life to Clarence and his friends. I love that this cartoon makes you think about your childhood, your friends you made along the way and how everything changes within the time. I love Clarence
It’s definitely one of the more underrated Cartoon Network shows of the 2010s and was easily overshadowed by a lot of other ones that came out at the time. I even have 2 random volumes on dvd which I still haven’t watched yet.
The magic this show has is so unique. I absolutely love clarence with all my heart. The concept is extremely simple but it's brilliantly done. Light, wholesome, fun, comfortable, and sometimes makes you wonder about your childhood... Just incredible. I think clarence is one of the best shows of the slice of life genre, not even just between cartoons but one of the best of the whole genre.
Back when I was a kid watching Clarence, it weirdly encouraged me to go outside and live life. As a kid I hated going outside until I would watch an episode of Clarence and think, Hey, maybe I can do some unhinged stuff and make some memories just like these characters.
This show was criminally underrated and underappreciated. I was way beyond the target age when I watched it (I'm 37 now), but it gave off great feels of nostalgia of being a kid at that age. Just kids being kids, and doing both fun things (like the Fun Dungeon) to the mundane, everyday things (grocery shopping), and how doing those things were like as a kid. The realism in how they represented all of the different family dynamics was excellent. I had friends growing up who were poor like Sumo, and friends who were rich and unfulfilled like Belson, but we all were just kids being kids in the end. As an adult, I loved all of the different styles, and how each character was based off another well-known IP--for example, Chad being modeled off of Donkey Kong, one kid was like Charlie Brown (even with how his spotlight episode was told), Belson was like a Muppet, etc. Really cool details put into each character and how their stories were told!
I loved this show. It was weird at times but it was so relatable. There was a time where I had such a stressful job as a teacher, I would put on this show and it would relax me. Especially the ending theme song was so soothing. ✨
this show will forever remain one of cartoon network's hidden gems. very overlooked but to those who paid attention, it's very enjoyable and heartwarming (for the most part)
Remembered this cartoon as my friend's favorite. Every year on his birthday, I always draw his favorite character, Clarence, as a gift since this show is very nostalgic to him.
This show was so fun to watch as a kid, the hate it got was unnecessary and I remember being made fun of for watching. Its so nostalgic and sweet rewatching it these days. Also its just funny and creative. Another W for CN as always when it comes to their cartoons. Very Special. This and FlapJack were underrated shows I knew by heart where people didn't know what I was talking about.
Clarence did something right that no other show did… being Clarence. It’s such a unique show that I think it deserves a sequel Clarence, Sumo, and Jeff are all in high school, we see Jeff’s relationship issues and how he’d become distant from his parents, how Sumo handles the stress of the work, how Clarence deals with staying naive even in high school
By far my favorite modern show on Cartoon Network. More people need to know about it and I’d be really interested to see if they ever make anything else, or where those creators go off to.
I used to love Clarence, and it was one of the last cartoons I loved watching as a teenager. I remember putting one of my other homegirls onto it when I was in high school, and she loved it too
Oh my god, Clarence is *chef's kiss*. When I watched the first episode, I immediately loved it. It was such a chill yet fun show! I was also in elementary when I watched Clarence, so seeing the show just be about kids having fun was relatable and really hit home for me. Clarence has a really special place in my heart and never fails to give me nostalgia. Even until now, I never get bored of rewatching my favorite episodes. Clarence is based
Clarence was a half and half favorite. They were ups and downs about it and more nasty scenes which made me uncomfortable. But the show reminds me a lot from my childhood. I liked most characters that Clarence made friends with in the show such as Jeff, Sumo, Chelsea, Kimby, Dustin, Nathan, Belson, Percy, Amy Gillis, Breehn, and more. I really wish they made a Clarence movie on HBO Max or another streaming service due to WB Discovery having some incidents. Overall, I am thankful that we had a show that taught us about our childhood.
I loved Clarence I really remember the espiode Little buddy it shows that anybody even as positive as Clarence can have a breaking point and sometimes showing a little kindness can get them through it
I love this cartoon, it really sucks people brought it down. The character designs, background art, soundtrack, and writing is all good. The art style isn’t everyone’s taste and people just don’t like watching kids act like real kids but people just called it bad because of it and it’s a shame. The cartoon gave me a nostalgic feeling for how well it portrays different childhoods. It’s a shame the creator was a sleaze but I still love this cartoon.
I Loved watching Clarence a lot back then when there was new Episodes on Monday. Clarence, Jeff and Sumo always reminded me of Ed, Edd n Eddy. Clarence was an underrated show and one of my absolute favorite Cartoons!
I started watching this show again a few weeks and now I’m obsessed with it. It’s very well made And legit funny word a lot of adult jokes and references you would not expect to be in a show targeted towards kids
I wasn't that interested in this show that much but I remember one episode called "Dream boat" that was incredible. It's rare that I root for a character as much as I did during that episode. Sumo just wanted to build a boat, he slaved away for days despite everyone either ignoring or laughing at him and his dream. You really feel bad for him and in some respects relate to him alot during that episode. Its one of those weird rare episodes of otherwise cheerful shows that get super serious just for that one story. Another that comes to mind was "Burrito" in we bear bears.
Clarence's humor and sweet nature was such a comfort and got me through the most monotonous and grim time of my life called: broke university student ✨
This one’s one of my favorite cartoons growing up I actually acted a lot like Clarence when growing up My dad wasn’t in my life and still isn’t but my set dad always remember me of chad I really love this show alot
My thoughts on clarence is that i love it, each episode is just 10 minutes which I personally like because i have a short attention span, then also because there's so much happening in each episode that also helps. Furthermore i don't really like growing up so seeing this kind of takes me back to my childhood aswell. I can also relate to some traits of the characters, like how jeff doesn't want to be touched. A moment that stood out to me the most is probably the way they show each character and how different their lives are. Overall i enjoy watching clarence and i would watch the whole 4 seasons again and again and again and again... and so on...
clarence is one of my fave new cartoon. I can imagine this cartoon being popular during my childhood days aka the early to mid 2000’s. I feel like this cartoon is slightly underrated and deserves more recognition imo
Clarance was my childhood, At school I got bullied because I was basically a real life Clarance and my friends were exactly like sumo and Jeff, Me and my friends went on awesome adventures but through it all I loved Clarance.I am 13 now, I’m still like Clarance in many ways but now I’m not builled people just think I’m whimsical.
If i can add something to this. Clarence was the last Cartoon Network show i had a close attachment to before i turned 18, and started to move away from the Network. and i will say. it felt close to home for me. the characters really take you to a time you were younger. if i can be honest. i mostly relate to Jeff the most based on how dress right dress i want stuff to be. thanks for covering this!

And i was like “Oh damn.. i used to do that as a kid.”
Although i imagined Sonic the Hedgehog running and jumping over everything.
Dondake!!!!

Quite ??? ITS GOATED UNDERRATED !!!!
Clarence is like Ed Edd and Eddy without the cynicism and negativity. It’s SUPER slice of life an I really need to get back into watching it
Except it was kinda off-putting to me how plain it was, i didn't like Clarence as a character because he is kinda stupid. In one episode he saw his teacher eating in a restaurant which confused him because he thought she was a robot. Clarence man did you not know what a job is? She has a life outside of work and yet nobody thought to teach him about that.
@@codyholley i mean i used to think that teachers lived at school when i was younger lol
@@killerapteer6312 jeez i guess I'm strange because I've always seen teachers as people
@cody holley I see the point though, that's why my favorite character in Clarence was Jeff.

The inconsistencies of the characters made our friend group all sort of gravitate to different characters and who they liked more, and it just made it that much more enjoyable to watch. we finished it tonight and it was a sad moment for sure, but an amazing time while watching !
i've seen it as Clarence walked so Craig of the Creek could run when it comes to really honing in on how to portray a realistic childhood that can make it nostalgic for adult viewers while still being a cartoon that can get silly and weird when it shows how the kids view the world. i didn't watch this one religiously but i'm in the same boat of catching it whenever it was on and thinking it was pretty fun
this is one of there more underrated Cartoon Network Shows from the 2010's era and it was pretty good of Clarence
True that!!!!
Omg poor Joshua, I remember that poor bastard
Exactly my opinion, the freaky stuff kinda shows how far that creators have strayed so far from the norm of cartoons.
Clarence is such a vibe! It came out when I was in high school so I didn’t have much interest in tuning in to the new cartoons that I didn’t grow up on. I stumbled upon it at the end of last year and binged the whole series! Clarence is the sweetest character! I think what I love most about this show is it’s ability to make you feel a sense of nostalgia, even if you didn’t grow up watching it as a kid based on the way,
it captures the fun and innocence of being a child.
Clarence is so underrated and shamed for no reason at all, it's first place on my cartoon list (gumballs second respectfully)
This show is so good at making you feel for these goofy characters. Little Buddy, Dream Boat, Worm Bin, and tons of more episodes are surprisingly beautiful and I just love this show so much
Plant Daddies!
The tree episode is so good. That's the one that changed my perspective on the show and made me look at it differently
Clarence seems to really give off childhood in the 90s/00s and it's just gives me such a rush of nostalgia every time I watch it
It’s definitely one of the more underrated Cartoon Network shows of the 2010s and was easily overshadowed by a lot of other ones that came out at the time.
Honestly the entire show feels like a fever dream you have
This show was criminally underrated and underappreciated.
My favorite cartoon network show. I'm glad you decided to make a video about it. This brings back memories of me watching it.
I have crazy ADHD and could always relate to Clarence's struggles. The way he acted and talked literally mirrored me. Always love this show
I loved this show.
It’s such a unique show that I think it deserves a sequel
Clarence, Sumo, and Jeff are all in high school, we see Jeff’s relationship issues and how he’d become distant from his parents, how Sumo handles the stress of the work, how Clarence deals with staying naive even in high school
By far my favorite modern show on Cartoon Network. More people need to know about it and I’d be really interested to see if they ever make anything else, or where those creators go off to.
I love Clarence so much. Became one of my favorite cartoons ever immediately. My son wasn't sure at first, but loves it as much as I do now.
Glad to see the show getting love I watched while it aired and it’s such a comfort show
It's def one of my favorite newer cartoon network shows. So good. Thanks for the great video Jordan!
Clarence is my favorite. My step daughter and I loved it and we would always say “Beeeeeees!!” from the surprise piñata episode

Yeah, too bad it never got the same amount of love Steven Universe got. 😔😔😔
El creador de clarence fue arrestado.
I distinctly remember not caring about Clarence when they started advertising it but I got hooked as soon as it premiered.
I remember an episode where Clarence wakes up early and how everything is when almost everyone is yes to start their day, it was very cute in a sense
I loved Clarence I really remember the espiode Little buddy it shows that anybody even as positive as Clarence can have a breaking point and sometimes showing a little kindness can get them through it
I unironically love Clarence truly.
I can't help (thinking back on it now) feel like Clarence is the child pov of what bluey is idk how to explain it
This show is so good especially the sleepover episode that got super surreal
Some of the aesthetics at play here really make me interested to hear an episode on Pinky Malinky. The art style of that show was so utterly unique.
Clarence really hit home. It was like watching my childhood in cartoon from.
This cartoon really means a lot to me.
I started watching this show again a few weeks and now I’m obsessed with it. It’s very well made And legit funny word a lot of adult jokes and references you would not expect to be in a show targeted towards kids
Clarence gave me a lot of nostalgia for Ed Edd and Eddy. Just a cozy, funny series covering childhood
It really felt like, kids just being kids
I wasn't that interested in this show that much but I remember one episode called "Dream boat" that was incredible. It's rare that I root for a character as much as I did during that episode. Sumo just wanted to build a boat, he slaved away for days despite everyone either ignoring or laughing at him and his dream. You really feel bad for him and in some respects relate to him alot during that episode.
Its one of those weird rare episodes of otherwise cheerful shows that get super serious just for that one story. Another that comes to mind was "Burrito" in we bear bears.
I really love clarence, it always feels so nostalgic of me and my friends back when I was younger, doing adventures together and just having fun
I remember watching Clarence as it was coming out and personally really liked it. I found the show very cute and charming lol
Clarence's humor and sweet nature was such a comfort and got me through the most monotonous and grim time of my life called: broke university student ✨
