No matter what the later commentators said ~ jonghyun stated at the concert that he did not think about referring to the relationship with fans when writing the lyrics, because the distance between him and fans was 0km. This song is just a pure work of art, describing a man who fell in love with the moon. Distance is not important, love is.
As another commenter said, this song was about falling in love with the moon and finding that despite distance, love prevails. However, it also became synonymous with the necessary distance between SHINee and fans (especially international fans). It's another song that is often performed during their concerts, along with "An Encore".
The four SHINee brothers have written an extremely beautiful song together to commemorate their feelings for Jonghyun. It's called, "Our Page". The MV is gut-wrenching yet touching at the same time. It is the final song/MV in a three-part series from their 2018 "Story of Light", 3-part album. The songs/MVs series is comprised of:
"Good Evening": In the opening, we see the things each of the brothers did with JH or what they were doing at the moment they got notification of what happened (i.e., Minho on a movie set); going through the stages of grief; the insensitivity of the press; and how they are dealing with everything. The MV is filled with symbolism of JH through his favorite book, "The Little Prince". At the end, we see them running freely through the forest where Key stops, turns to look into the forest and give a little smile. They are going to be okay.
"I Want You": While the music is upbeat and the MV on the comedic side, you need to read the lyrics which belie the tone of the MV. Once again the brothers pour our their desire to rewind what happened and produce a different outcome. They would rather live in their dreams than face reality. All they want is to get him back and be whole along with SHINee World (symbolized by the word "blue" in the song.
With the reuniting of SHINee, again, a tribute song to JH was penned. This time it was Minho who put together a song strung from phrases of past songs -- some written by JH -- to convey how they are still coping with JH's loss and what it feels like. This song is "Area" and is featured on their repackaged album, "Atlantis". Again it is an absolutely stunning song well worth the listen.
Then we have Taemin, who, while all the guys were devastated by JH's loss, Taemin was the one who knew JH the longest, as he trained with JH prior to being assigned to SHINee and the other members. JH took a 12 YO Taemin under his wing, helped teach him how to sing, was his greatest fan when Taemin debuted as a soloist, and deemed himself Taemin's fan club president. JH even said on his social media that he was Taemin's second mom. Well, Taemin has honored JH in his own way through his songs, "Under My Skin" (MV available and very touching live performance: ua-cam.com/video/3vR7hg1zLS0/v-deo.html ) and "Identity" (VCR + live performance: ua-cam.com/video/EWzMMlCS9_U/v-deo.html ) where Taemin again pays homage to the memory of JH through representation of the book, "The Little Prince". Both are phenomenal songs and also worth a listen.

Romeo + Juliette performed in 2017 eventhough this song is from their 2009 Romeo album. They literally performed this song live only 2x in their career it is a must watch. It was Taemin's favorite song for many years. He also has performed this song in solo concerts. He also performed this as his firsr solo performance at age 16. It is a really cool song.

I'm a pretty new shawol, and somewhere in the masses of shinee clips I've been mainlining I remember seeing a video from sometime after 2017 (maybe a shinee anniversary one, I'm not sure), where the guys were asked their favorite Shinee songs. Replay, View, and An Encore were named by Key, Minho, and Taemin. Onew sat there for a moment then sang the opening to Selene 6.23. You could see on all their faces that they were hearing the rest of the opening in their heads and hearing Jonghyun coming in with his first lines... My heart won't seem to stop breaking a little bit whenever I hear this song. It's so beautiful and powerful and has so much extra meaning now.
