@@tella117 well, lets look at who just made up some facts right here! Although the earth does has a cycle, that cycle is very long and has stable changes in temperature. From the industrial revolution onwards, the amount of Co2 humans release into the atmosphere as boomed. Now you might be thinking " well trees will take care of it" but they don't. Durring the summer is when there are the lowest points of Co2 in the atmosphere because all trees have leaves. During the winter, the Co2 levels rise. This causes a continues heating of the earth because of the output of Co2 humans produce. If you look at recorded graphs, you will see a rise in Co2 emissions. You may say this is just a cycle. Its not. Look at previous Co2 cycles and their rate of change. Nothing compares to the current rapid rate of increase. I would advise you backing up your claims with reasoning and evidence before spewing false facts.

palm oil is VERY EFFICIENT though. If you ban palm oil, companies or whoever will still use other oils. Palm oil tree is magical tree that westerners jealous for,,, they're cheap, quite healthy, every part of the fruit is can used for every type of product, no waste, can produce for a whole year, 15 year life span,,, that is the truly magical tree,,
Even if people stop using Palm Oil for food or cosmetic products, palm oil production will increase because palm oil also can be transformed into Biodiesel fuel.
People who use cosmetics, really don't check the ingredients and where they come from. They don't check the back story, how many people are exploited in the process.
Two years ago palm oil and its products were dirt cheap. No more. The Russo-Ukraine War had upset the World's cooking oil market. Indonesia banned export of palm oil to tackle rising domestic demand hit by high prices. Ironical that this video's main emphasis was on palm oil's "cheapness and abundant supply". Manufacturers of food products must now find an alternative to palm oil. Or change food processing techniques to reduce use of palm oil altogether.
@@harukrentz435 This is difficult to say. Consumers of course want cooking oil to be cheap but the medium should also suit the food that is being cooked in it. In Europe, people use olive oil as it gives a unique taste to the food and salad dressing. Palm Oil has numerous beneficial nutrients, In Asia we use coco nut oil, sunflower, safflower, corn oil, soya oil, rice bran oil etc. If palm oil goes off the market, the consumer will be forced to seek an alternative cooking oil available in the market and affordable too. I think lard made from animal fat ,butter, clarified butter (ghee) and hydrogenated fat(margarine) can be used as a cooking medium.
For comparison, soy bean needs a lot more land compared to palm tree. If the palm tree is banished, more land will be required to plant soy bean to produce an equal amount of oil
There is no "magic" in agriculture. All the nutrients a plant produces and packs into its seeds, fruits or leaves must come from somewhere. In this case, an intensive plant like the oil palm drains the nuitrients from the carbon-rich mass of the freshly slashed and burnt rainforest biomatter. Once the freshly cleared soil is drained by the palms, the whole process must be moved - you cannot do it repeatedly on one place, hence it's not sustainable. You need more and more rainforest to slash and burn and turn into oil - that's why it's problematic. You are consuming primary plant production (the original rainforest) that took centuries to form at a breakneck speed.
@@Kamamura2 You must keep this in mind that the lifespan of palm trees is about 18 to 25 years which is much longer compared to other alternatives and that is the reason why they are called sustainable. It's funny how first the west started all this, and now when comparitively economically weaker countries like India, china and Indonesia are using palm oil, they also are the ones blamed for the deforestation. Idk the exact numbers but I'm sure India, china and Indonesia, together make up 38-40% of the world's population. So, using 40% isn't wrong. Highlighting the region for its palm oil use and trying to blame it on certain countries is stupid. You should rather be talking about reducing the deforestation due to palm oil production across the globe and keeping every country in mind.
While you are very correct in pointing out the hypocrisy of the west as they wag their fingers at the developing world for trying to reach the level of prosperity and power that they are already at, you are overlooking the fact that Germany, Denmark, Canada, and the UK do 0 tropical deforestation within their countries. There was a lot of heavy lifting the word "tropical" and the phrase " within their countries" was doing in that sentence.
How come this video is means to demonize China and India? The researcher literally said palm oil is probably the best oil in terms of deforestation. What this video imply is that China and India should started to focus on environment, not purely just cost. It's definitely a complex problem, so nobody can really give a real answer here.
Whats your problem ? Atleast there are palm oil trees being planted They still give us all the properties and benefits of trees. Unlike just useless grass for cattle to eat. This is much much lesser of an evil. There are other areas humans should be look at first, instead of picking up arms to fight one kind of tree being planted over the other.
Because tropical forest hosts thousands of different plants and animals. Palm tree plantation does not. If I am not mistaken, palm tree plantation also causes soil degradation and erosion. Main problem is fast burning and destruction of tropical forrests. There should be plan to keep some of it.

1) 62.3% of Malaysia is forest with 32.6m population & 52.1% of Indonesia is forest with 270.6m population. Your ratio?

3) Palm oil tree is a jungle/ forest tree not like corn, wheat, canola, sunflower etc.
4) Oil palm (Elaeis guineensis) is an African jungle tree, rubber (Hevea brasiliensis) is a Brazilian jungle tree and the durian (Durio zibethinus) is a Malaysian jungle tree. Over the years, Malaysia & Indonesia has planted billions of these wonderful trees.

There is nothing that we can called perfect method and palm oil is a better option as the recycle time to replant the trees is much longer compared to the other options.
